3* for food. I'm Vietnamese and I know my food!
My friends said this place is good, that's why I wanna give it a try. I had the Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio (vermicelli with eggrolls and grilled pork). It was ok, nothing special. The bowl was too small for you to mix all the vermicelli and veggie and meat. And about 40% of my bowl is bean spouts. I'm like wtheck =='
My bf had #3, Pho with well done sliced beef. I think PhoEver in Vista is way better thou.
The only dish I recommend is Banh Xeo (fried savory pancake with shrimp and pork). Kinda oily but yea the best dish of the night so far.
I don't recommend you to try any of the desserts thou, way too heavy and sweet and not even taste like what Vietnamese desserts should be.
2* for service
To be fair, only the old lady pissed me off, other staffs were polite and friendly.
As soon as we sat down (there were 4 of us, my 2 friends, my bf and me) and began to order, the old lady came and kept asking "you guys want seperated checks or 1 check". It was kinda awkward because we haven't even eaten anything and our asses just touched the chair like 5 seconds ago. Ok so we told her 3 separated checks, each for my 2 friend and 1 check for my bf and me. Idk if she was still sleepy or not very good at math but she kept asking if I was sure that I wanted 1 check for my bf and me.
Furthermore, when we order dessert, we all wanna get the D9 (I think) Suong Sa Hot Luu (dessert which has coconut, jelly, red beans and water chestnut) but she kept saying "you want red beans or no red beans". I said "red beans sound good", then she said "so you want the D8, Che Rainbow" (note that the D8 Che Rainbow doesn't have water chestnut). I said "no we want the D9" then she said "oh we are out of 3ater chestnut. But D8 and D9 are the same, just that D8 has red beans and D9 has no red beans". So BECAUSE the restaurant didn't have enough ingredients to make the D9, she still wanted me to order D8 instead without telling me in the first place that "oh we don't have D9 today". Why the heck did she told me that those 2 are almost similar? Because they are freaking not :| Here's the link for your information abt the differences.

I don't think we will ever come back to this restaurant again. I don't like pushy waiters who tried to make me order what she wants instead of what I want.
One more thing, last time my host family took my friend (Vietnamese, from North of Vietnam) to this place bc my friend misses Viet food. My host mom was so excited because she always wanted to try Viet food with a Vietnamese so she could ask questions abt the food the culture and etc. So she told the waiter (an old guy, i assume he was also the owner) that "oh this is Katie she is from the North of Vietnam" and then that guy gave my friend an 'attitude' (yea in Vietnam some ppl from the South and some ppl from the North don't like each other, for some stupid political reasons shit I'm not sure). My host mom felt so bad for my friend, and that was the first also last time they ate there.
So yea, the old employees at this restaurant are pretty rude. Food is not that good to be worth coming back for. Not a very good experience. I was embarrassed by the old lady's service because I took my Indian and Mexican friends there for a 'Viet appreciation day' and was hoping for good food and friendly service but nah. Overall we all were not impressed and kinda disappointed.
