I have been looking for a local place to eat good Pho and I'm so glad I tried Pho Lavie! The Pho was perfect, the usual huge bowl that could easily serve two. I really enjoyed it and the service was great. The summer rolls were the usual as well, didn't enjoy the sauces too much. The egg rolls were good, but very oily. Always always amazing. Fresh beautiful food. We try to eat there once a week. The take out service is fast. We have never had to wait for more than 25 minutes. The restaurant is always clean and it is nice to just bring friends who are always happy. I personally love this place and yes it's ran by real Asians so don't expect them to be at your beck and call. I'm married to an Asian and have traveled around Asia and the service is what I would expect. Curry is great and so is the Pho. Get the Pho Tank! You will be #feasting your heart out and will look like you did not even make a dent. Flavors are different then Basilic but still great. I'd say this place is more authentic and less aimed at Americans. You never know when it will be packed or almost empty. They have a bar and one tv. It's usually on Ion. But overall great value and great quick bite with leftovers. And the fried rice is made fresh so if you are a bit picky get it instead of white or brown rice. Unbelievable. Absolutely delicious. Stunning, sublime, and delectable. I got the Egg Rolls which contain a combination of ground beef and shrimp and fried to a perfect crisp. To accompany the rolls, they provide a side of fresh grated carrots, lettuce, cilantro, rice noodles, and chili sauces. You wrap the egg roll, with the accompaniments in the crisp lettuce and indulge in a sensory voyage to Vietnam. Following the egg rolls I had the beef pho. My goodness. It was perfect. The depth and balance of the broth completely blew my mind. I then filled the steaming bowl of heaven with fresh lemongrass, Thai basil, cilantro, bean sprouts, and fiery sliced jalapeños and chili sauce. It was already a flavor explosion as I began to devour it, but the best part is how it began to change and morph in to an even better concoction as the flavors of all the fresh herbs and spices began to become one with the broth. Definitely the building does not look very appealing from outside due to big neglect from whomever owns the plaza however this place has great food. It was my first ever taste of Vietnamese here in US and I really liked it. Very authentic for sure. I am not sure if due to low staff but service was extremely slow. Took over one hour to get served. Pho soup was huge but was really good. Had few other things from appetizer menu that didn't like much but because of personal taste. My husband thought the appetizers were great and healthy. Restaurant located in a shopping area in a small store. Restaurant opens at 11:00; I arrived at 11;30 when there were no patrons. Stood waiting a bit, a man came out and asked what I wanted so I told him I would like to have lunch. A woman came out to take my order; when I told her what I wanted she stammered a bit saying it wasn't ready, etc. I mentioned my order again, pointing it out to her and asked if it was not available for some reason. She told me it would take a long time; I agreed to wait whereupon she said it would take 10 minutes or so. I agreed to wait and asked for a soda. She asked me if I wouldn't like to have soup - I didn't she left with my order. I sat reading, not minding the wait but wondering why she didn't bring my drink . The food was indeed delicious but the man and woman (?owners?) were not at all friendly. My plate was brought out and that was it for me as far as they were concerned. They both sat down and themselves ate. The restaurant became busy. I finished and asked for my check, paid and walked out, leaving a generous tip without a word of thanks from either, Just an acknowledgment that I was a customer and not a bother would have been a 5 star review. Foods not bad and it is right down the street from work so it is convenient. We used to go here about twice a month. That is until the new wait staff lady started. She is not very pleasant and takes forever to get us the tab about 5 different times I was there. Having to be back at work I'd get up and get it myself. The straw the broke the camels back was when me and some co-workers went in and sat around for about 8 minutes with nothing. She then proceeds to go the table with her stuff on it and start eating. Three of us had ordered pho and were experiencing the same thing, "The broth has no flavor. It's just hot water seasoned with salt and MSG." I am not a local of the area (just a tourist passing through) but was craving Pho and this spot had good reviews on Yelp. Having come from the Bay Area (CA) we have a plethora of pho joints and I certainly have high expectations and know what I like and dislike. I ordered the Rare Steak Pho, and my bf had the garlic noodles with prawns. I enjoyed his more as it had wonderful flavors of roasted garlic. The Pho here was good, but not comparable to what we have back home. This is probably the best you can find out here in an area like Pompano Beach though. The ambiance, service and cleanliness is ok. But twice I've been disappointed of their banh mi sandwiches (pork or beef) because the meat is not the usual grilled style of a Vietnamese sandwich. It has too much sauce/liquid and quite salty too. One piece cucumber, a couple strands of cilantro and the quality of the bread they use leaves a lot to be desired. Vietnamese coffee seems like made from instant powder kind not the traditional with real condensed milk. However, the other 2 items I ordered are ok. My boyfriend and i found this hidden gem while we were going to get his oil changed across the street, I saw "Pho" did a quick search on Yelp (of course) and decided to trust my fellow yelpers high rated reviews and head on in. The votes are in folks: this is THE best vietnamese in south florida I've tried to date. I've been searching for the perfect pho place around me, and I believe this place will be my new go-to spot! I tried the Pho Tai (Rare flap steak pho) which is steak with beef broth topped with fresh green onions, cilantro, lime, basil and bean sprouts. The steak was SO fresh and flavorful which was a huge plus as I've noticed some pho places their meat does not seem like its fresh. It also had just enough salt flavor as I've experienced other places having too much. Pro tip get extra limes for great flavor. My boyfriend got the banh mi/vietnamese combination of Grilled Pork, Grilled Beef, and Grilled Chicken. I had a bite of it and it was amazing.. same as the pho the quality of meat is great and it is very flavorful. I would consider ordering the banh mi our next visit but the pho would be hard to pass up... maybe I can get both and eat the sub later (it is THAT good my friends!)
