Stopped by on the way from Miami airport after a long flight from Europe. I was starving, so I ordered the grilled pork banh mi and the pho with rare beef and meat balls. My boyfriend ordered the pho ga and Vietnamese iced coffee. The coffee came out pretty quick, but the sandwich came out with the pho, so I was eating it while I waited for the soup to cool down. The banh mi had lots of veggies and a good amount of meat. The pho broth was very flavorful and they give you large slices of lime and a good amount of the soup garnish. Hoisin, Siricha Ana the chili oil were all readily available at the table. They also use paper straws for their to go cups! read more

So good I went for a second time in the same week! I always get the grilled chicken pho which is always tasty but I've been wanting to try bahn mi so we ordered the beef bahn mi and they did not disappoint, great price too for 5.95. I also ordered the fried eggs rolls for the first time that came with a "spicy" fish sauce, they were amazing and perfectly crispy ( you are supposed to wrap them with the lettuce and dip them in sauce) and also had the beef rolls for the first time with peanut sauce. This was all shared between the two days I went with my boyfriend so don't judge I did not have this all at once lol FYI If you do order a platter with fried rice - don't expect a standard Chinese fried rice, maybe it is the standard Vietnamese style, it was just a slightly fried white rice with eggs. I ordered number 29, Which is the sugar cane shrimp. And then they gave me just normal shrimp. When I called back they said we do not have that on the menu anymore. If they don't have it on the menu anymore why would they still take the order and give you something different and when it's a take out you don't know until you get home that it's the wrong dish that they gave you. So when you order please make sure you double check your food because they're gonna give you a different dish just because they don't have it and Do not tell you that they don't have it.. Still a five star in my book. It's been awhile since we've been back (or out in general really) due to the pandemic, but I'm so glad my husband decided to treat me to Pho Lavie once again today. This small, unassuming restaurant is really the highlight of this very unassuming strip mall. My husband and I have yet to have a bad meal here. In fact, the food here has been so delicious and authentic we have rated it our number one Vietnamese spot. Our favorites Phos are the grilled pork & chicken. And the lemongrass beef bowl is CRAZY TASTY. The broth in the pho has that deep complex flavor only indicative of a broth that has been steeping for quite some time- which is EXACTLY what you want in a Pho. It's that awesome herbal scrumptiousness that leaves you with a warm feeling inside as it detoxes & purifies too! I can always tell how amazing a Pho is if my nose runs a bit after haha. So good to clear any sinus issues! And the hint of lemon that hits you when you eat the lemon grass beef is perfect. We drove 25 min to get some Pho as we are visiting family in town. We walked in at 8:57 because Yelp says the restaurant closed at at one. And they turned us away because they said they were closed. Their sign did say 9:00 pm, but it was not 9. I guess they don' t want business. I'm so glad to have a decent local Viet restaurant. Very nice decor. The chairs were so comfy and nice. They were leather covered chairs. Looks very modern rather than the typical Asian restaurant where very little goes into decor. The food was very good and the portions were impressive and genreous. They do not skimp on meat portions. The prices are fair for the portion size and the area you're in where there isn't much competition for Viet food. So it is a buck or two more than you would find in an Asian neighborhood. Not bad I had the bun thit nuong and cha gio (vermicelli rice noodles with grill pork and egg roll). My hubby had the pho tai and bo vien (beef noodle soup with beef slices and meatball). He liked the broth and didn't think it needed hoison. They were generous with the veggies too (bean sprouts, Thai basil and culantro). Plus, they serve you Jasmine tea rather than water. That's so authentic! When I went to Vietnam all the restaurants or should I say food stands served tea rather than water. I loved it! However, they don't tell you it's tea but just give you a tall glass of it. So, it was a surprise. I can see though that other customers didn't know what to do with it since they weren't familiar with the tea custom. It's just tea people, don't be scared!!! I took off one star because it took very long for them to give us menus after we sat down. Admittedly they were busy but we waited so long that another kind guest across from us at another table pointed out to the waiter that we haven't been helped. We never got any napkins but I always have some in my purse. So no biggie. Also, we didn't get the complimentary shrimp crackers that all the other tables got. Which was a bit disappointing because I love those. I think the staff needs to be more coordinated and check on the tables/customers but understandable because it's a new restaurant so it's a bit chaotic. 5 stars on the beef pho but only like 3-4 on over all experience. I'm a pho-natic, I've tried so many different places in south florida and also in other states. I enjoyed their beer pho, the steak was very tender and good. When I arrived there though it was pretty hot inside and on an 86 degree hot day and going to eat a hot soup the AC would've definitely been appreciated, i don't know if it was because it was a slower time of the day for them (I was the only customer) and they just turned down the AC or maybe there was an actual issue with the AC. Also because i was there by myself, the place was kind of awkwardly quiet and i noticed they had a TV but wasn't turned on, that would've been kind of nice to have something to look at and or listen to. The waitress could've been a little more personable and attentive as well, when i walked in there she was sitting at a table listening to something on a phone or tablet I guess, there was no greeting or anything so i just sat myself after a minute, no water brought to the table or at least been offered. The shrimp chips are complimentary at every other pho place I've been to, which really didn't bother me too much just making a statement. This is an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in a difficult to locate shopping center at Sample Road and US 1. The food is prepared by a family who seem to really place emphasis on quality and cleanliness. There are little extras, like real mint sprigs, fresh bean sprouts and genuine sauces that are included included in your meal without charge. I usually get take-out, and I've never been disappointed with the quality and quantity of the food. My favorite is the Bahn Xeo ($9.95) (Vietnamese crepe) which is so delicious it has to be experienced. My husband gets the Pho Ga ($8.95) and a Banh Mi Ga Nuong ($5.95) He is not an adventurous diner, yet he finds the food here to be completely satisfying. It is worth the effort to find this little place in a nondescript strip mall in Pompano. There is a Winn Dixie in the same shopping center. TLDR: the food basically tastes like it caters to just an American audience and it's fairly pricey here decor/ambiance: a super clean and well lit restaurant with a beautiful bamboo decorated wall! Other small details that were really cute were the green chopsticks and plenty of condiments displayed for every table. Service: greeted with a warm welcome and was immediately seated for my large table. The waitress was friendly and responded fast to all my parties requests (refilling water, extra nuoc mam, etc) Food: now here's the downfall. Possibly it was my fault for ordering this dish (hu tieu) bc it can be a hit or miss at a lot of places, but after trying the other foods (banh mi thit nuong, banh xeo, pho dac biet) it confirmed that the food was mediocre at best. I would probably only recommend the rice dishes or appetizers since those had the most authentic flavors to it. I found it kind of odd that my hu tieu also had like lettuce carrots and broccoli in it too.. not sure if this is a Florida thing since I'm from nyc since I've seen other places here do that too? Non-traditional Vietnamese restaurant, we ordered hot tea, egg rolls and 2 bowls of Pho, 1 combination and 1 meatball. First of all, not sure what kind of tea they used but extremely bitter. Second, no basil serve with Pho which is a no no in any foodie book. Third, their Pho's broth was super bland, no flavor whatsoever. Extremely disappointed especially after a long day of flying considering it was our first real meal of the day and we were starving, still the food was not good. I was pretty excited that we stumbled upon this restaurant, it was pretty good overall. So when we got there in the later part of the evening like around 7pm or so on a weekday it was pretty packed. There seemed to only be one waitress for about 15 tables, and she was rocking it... it just took some time to get service which i'm not going to blame the server. We ordered some Vietnamese pancakes as well as some pho and OMG!!! it was delicious and so satisfying that we ended up taking half of the pho home because it was so much!!! We decided to sit at the bar to make it go faster, but in reality that didn't help much. The prices are very reasonable for what you get and flavor and amount go along way!! I def. recommend it to anyone - but what I will say, be patient with the staff if not then this place isn't for you.
