Okay. I tried it again. I like to support the local small businesses, especially nowadays. Was pulled in because I was really wanting banh mi and a friend said they had it here. And bonus, they were having a bogo for milk tea this week. :) The milk tea was okay, I got the green tea with boba. The tea wasn't great, but wasn't bad. The boba itself was an odd texture, super duper soft on the outside, almost hard/not fully cooked on the inside. Could've been that it was sitting too long in the ice? But then I don't think that the outside would've been so mushy. Now the banh mi... They do the buy 5 get 1 special like a lot of banh mi places, so a few friends put an order together. Opening the paper (we got it to-go) and seeing the sandwich was a HUGE disappoinment. The "banh mi" came on what was obviously store-bought sub bread. It was soft and mushy- no crust, no airy-ness, no crunch. I ordered the nem nuong, and the meat itself was fine. Sweet and salty as it should be. But the sandwich itself tasted overall salty with the butter and then the lack of vegetables. I think if there were at least more veggies it would've balanced out the saltiness from the meat and the lack of crunch from the bread. To me, what makes banh mi is the bread and the veggies. The protein can always be switched out, but it's the balance of flavors and texture that makes it so appetizing. This failed in all aspects. Previous pictures of the banh mi looks like it comes in the normal bread, so I don't know if this is a recent change or they just ran out of bread and decided to serve us something else...? If it is the latter, they should've said something. And if they just straight up changed their bread, then they should change the name on the menu from "banh mi" to subs". Just a heads up also, they charge 50 cents extra per item you order off the menu when doing takeout. read more

When I went vegan over a year and a half ago, I chose to say bye to many of my favorite foods. One of them was Pho. Until I found this delightful gem that caters to a vegan and vegetarian customer! I am so grateful! The decor is lovely, it's clean inside. The staff is attentive and had a perfect balance of taking orders, checking in, cleaning up, and getting the check. It was a crew effort and everyone was welcoming! The menu has a dedicated vegan and vegetarian page, so you can easily tell what to order, instead of digging through the rest of the menu to find options. The vegan pho was AMAZING! LOTS of fresh vegetables that had great texture and crunch! I also got a young coconut drink - always a great choice! The green tea was lovely, and so were the super crunchy springrolls. Great location, in the middle of the action at One Loudoun. Food would get a 5 rating, I had the white meat chicken Pho and loved it. Also had 2 summer roll (rice paper kind) which were great. Couple negatives, but small? Wife's red wine was served chill, when she mentioned it, they corrected it. Too much bleach..I get it, COVID pandemic, and doing a superior job of wiping down the tables between customers, but the smell was a bit overwhelming. Is there a solution that is less odorous? This spot is well worth it, and out of my 20+ experiences here I can't complain. One of my favorite local Pho go-tos. We both ordered the pho tai nam, and the food was out in about 5 minutes, even with how busy they were! Surprisingly busy for a Tuesday, but once you order the food it's not too surprising. Menu selection is moderately extensive, the tables were all clean, the staff were friendly, the mints were full. Probably the best Pho in the Ashurn area. Have tried 2-3 other Pho joints nearby (including one that is 100 yards from my house). But this one is the best by far. Pho broth is the best. This place has some of the best Pho around Loudoun County and it's a great experience overall, IF you dine in. The whole takeout and delivery process has been wildly inconsistent and seems to be getting worse. Sometimes, you'll end up talking to an employee on the phone who either hates his job, or has no interest in being pleasant. That sets the tone for the rest of the experience. Other times, food portioning is definitely off: nothing like coming home and finding out your Pho has 3/4th portion size compared to normal (And yes, we have eaten here at least 2 dozen times to know what's "normal"). And if that's not enough, you'll end up waiting to pick up your food, even if the restaurant texts you that your order is ready. Today was the perfect trifecta: The employee on the phone was rude; the food portion was terribly off, AND I showed up 20+ mins after my food was "ready" (per their own text message) and still had to wait. Our server was very gruff - when we sat down he never greeted us. He just slapped our menus on the table and walked away. He rushed us through our order and seemed annoyed when I asked him the difference btw the accompanying sauces. The bowl came out all wrong but luckily still tasted good. Checked out Pho-nomenal for the first time one afternoon for lunch this past week... As per my usual - I ordered the large Pho-Ga - with white meat only. Pho-nomenal offers choices for Pho Ga that include white and dark meat, or white meat only or dark meat only. The order came out fairly quickly, accompanied by a very fresh looking plate of aromatics: bean sprouts, lots of thinly sliced jalapeños, a large, juicy lime wedge, and lots of large, fresh Basil! I tasted the broth first, then added I all of the aromatics. The chicken broth was steaming and tasty. I added squirts of Sriracha sauce to most bites as I made my way through the bowl - and slurped down every last drop of broth! The restaurant is located in a fairly new retail complex in the Ashburn area - the interior looks fairly new - so I am guessing this place is fairly new - perhaps a year or so old? Not sure if this place has changed ownership or something else. I ordered a pho with specific directions with brisket, tendon, & meat balls and the other is rice combo. Total for the pho was $15.49 However, when I got home and unpacked the order, the pho was missing meat balls. I don't want to be petty, but very disappointed that I got charged for the full price and the meat balls were missing! Lesson learned, always check your order before leaving, which, I did check with the server when picking up the food and twice while I was on the phone ordering. Please do it right!! I have been coming to this place since I moved out of DC. I am not a pho expert by any imagination but I have been to over 50+ different pho places and experienced good bad and ugly. This place is solid. They don't skimp on meats and good portion with rich but CLEAN broth. I have tried most of phos there including chicken and they are all pretty solid. Clean ambiance and decent service and it's what you would expect. $~15 for pho is still little hard to swallow but everything cost more these days. This might sound weird but I like clean water especially on pho or any kind of broth places like ramen, hot pots, Korean soup places. If they use filtered water I feel much safer but if I taste tap water on my water it doesn't begin or end well. This place use filtered water. Then it renovated and reopened under new management as the new and improved Pho-Nomenal. This is an awesome Pho spot; menu is more extensive, a mini bar is added, looks cleaner, and the pho is quite tasty. Recommend #6 (pho-tai nam) with the eye round steak & flank. The broth has the right amount of richness from the boilings and meat with a nice hint of flavor from the herbs and seasonings pho perfect balance! If you want really spicy, ask for their secret spicy sauce. You've been warned! Appetizers have also taken it up a notch with more variety of spring rolls and additional apps such as chicken wings, beef roll, and crab puffs. The A6 (shrimp & roast pork) & A5 (roast and grilled pork) spring rolls are delicious and wrapped nice and tight; like a Cuban cigar... or something like that. I enjoyed the peanut sauce very much. I would give 0 stars if could. I frequent Vietnamese restaurants often and the food was subpar. However, the main reason I writing this review is for the despicable service. It was our first time here and we were looking to find out our menu options especially since we had come with our 6 year old. Right off the bat, our server did not seem to have the time of day for us, despite the restaurant being almost empty on a Friday evening - that too, a restaurant in one Loudoun. When asking about any of the items he was so abrupt, yes/no answers and not willing to even slightly accommodate us in any way. He forgot about our beverages and condiments and remembered as we were wrapping up our meal which we didn't bother finishing due to feeling unwelcome, lack of ambiance and with the food being so average. We came to know there is no kids menu and he simply did not want to make our lives any easier. We got the Seinfeld feeling of "No soup for you" if you will. When this restaurant is packed on Sunday evening, and we are one of three Asian families, we begin to wonder if we are at the right pho place? My mother in law seems picky with her pho and this is her favorite pho spot. So we decided to check it out. I have to say they make good pho broth. The beef broth for the regular pho is good and the chicken broth for the seafood & shrimp pho have a comforting sweetness. I also like how tender the tripe is and how generous they are with the noodles and meats! That also includes the shrimp! I think my shrimp pho had about nine pieces of shrimp and they were all deveined. I like how they have a variety of summer rolls. Shrimp, pork, grilled chicken, sausage, it's amazing. The shrimp and grilled pork summer roll was wrapped well, and my hubby, who is the judge of all summer rolls, approves. They have vermicelli, rice, other noodles such as bun bo hue, and various appetizers. I like the variety. I think service needs improvement. The servers were nice but they seem flustered when it gets busy. I asked about popular appetizers and couldn't decide on which noodle dish. One of the servers got a little impatient and hastily said he will come back. I was also served a dirty plate to share the summer rolls. I think they accidentally grabbed it from the dirty pile. But somehow my hubby got a clean plate. The lady that brings the food out speaks very basic English. She didn't quite understand what we needed - an extra bowl and fork.
