Was definitely happy to hear about a late night Pho joint in Alameda. Pho nation has super fast service, strong drinks, and a decent bowl of Pho. The Pho itself was alright. Nothing special. A fun spot on Park Blvd in Alameda! They have a dj and a very reasonably priced private karaoke room! You have a choice of dining in the front with the bar and music. If you're looking for a quiet spot family friendly pho shop, this isn't it. This venue is a bar that happens to sell pho. The good: - Really big venue, lots of seating and standing room. Would be great for a huge party. - Open really late. Nice if you have a pho craving after 10pm but they close at 2am so you gotta plan ahead if you want some pho after the club - Pho broth was good, was it worth the price not really. The bad: - The noodles were lumped up like they were taken out of a Ziploc bag. The noodles broke when I unlumped then. That's ok if it's takeout but $17 at a sit down restaurant, unimpressed. - Severely understaffed. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume I got unlucky and came on a busy Sunday but it was very noticeable. There were 2 bartenders and a busy boy/ waiter. Tables that were not cleared. There was not one to flag down so we sat ourselves and got our own menus. Bartender was helping serve the food and taking orders. - Wobbly table. Not sure how that's possible given this is a brand new restaurant but if you're asking $17 for pho and $15 for cocktails that's pretty disappointing. - Weird restaurant layout. I enjoyed everything else we got and everything tasted good. Service was nice and the place was spacious but I liked the lights they had flashing on the wall and the music they were playing. Second time I had the food ordered through door dash and the food tasted the same, nothing bad, and we got exactly what we ordered. I'm glad that it was on DoorDash for me since I do live quite a bit far from this restaurant and I was craving to have it during a time that I couldn't go out there to get it. Probably one of the worst dinner experiences I've ever experienced in my life. Service is non existent. The waitress didn't check on us once, picked up my dirty chopsticks and then proceeded to give my table our food. Disgusting. The service was also so slow. There were barely any people. She took forever to greet us and the table that sat after us. They were all just talking amongst themselves behind the bar, and forgot about us. She even asked us if everything was okay at the end, laughable. Also, the food workers are NOT wearing food safe shoes. Converse and jordans? Inexcusable and shocking to say the least. The combination pho was missing half of the items it was supposed to come with, like the tripe. We settled for this place because it's open late but we regretted it deeply. Because the waitress didn't check on us at all, we sat for about 10 minutes waiting to see if she would stop by to check on us so we could ask for the check. Not surprisingly, she didn't. Surprise hangout in Alameda on Park St. From the name you'd think it is just a typical Pho spot but once you get inside you'll find a spacious full bar, VIP room equipped restaurant/lounge. They have comedy shows, feature bands that embrace southeast Asian culture and DJ's. There are plenty of seats in this place and during nights with DJ's spinning they would open the floor for dancing. It's definitely not a quiet place to dine in but more of an ambiance as if you were in the street venue in Asia. From all the items I've tried and ordered, I haven't had one bad dish yet. I really like their pho and the liquid gold (pho broth) is well seasoned. My second favorite is the pork belly for sure. You can go wrong with ordering anything here when it comes to the food. If you're having a group event, you can rent the VIP room equipped with screens and mic for karaoke or just listening to music. The food was priced a little higher than their competitors, but overall the value is average. The restaurant itself has an amazing club ambiance and the environment really does make it feel modern. It sometimes makes it feel like it does not fit a restaurant, but it seems catered for those that enjoy that atmosphere in the first place. The service at the restaurant was good, the one heading the floor seemed to be very attentive and the others were very nice as well. This place definitely has the vibe of one of those shady San Jose Vietnamese restaurants that employ scantily clad young women and cater to the gangster clientele. The windows and door are all blacked out. They had techno music going, and a back of the house dance room. They even have a bouncer at the front door. What restaurant business in Alameda have a bouncer? The food was mediocre. It's more of a late night party joint than a serious family restaurant. Portions are small, and you just don't feel comfortable eating in the cavernous hall. What really annoyed us were the karaoke singing in the back room. The music funneled through the tunnel area toward the dinning room. They were playing really loud Vietnamese techno music already. So the two loud music sources clashed and were really distracting for diners. We had to yell our order to the waitress. The owner dude was standing by the front bar and he was oblivious to the jarring acoustics. His gangster buddy friends continued to sang and party in the back dance room. It was a very weird dining experience. We'll probably won't ever be back here to eat. I might to my friends to get a drink at the bar and gawk at the young servers, just like how the do it at the San Jose Viet "coffee shops". I went in here and got sat down pretty quick. Went to the bathroom and found there was a back room which had a lot of people there to dance and music was fire. We ordered pho and chicken wings (lemon Pepper) The pho here is to die for. Extremely flavorful and the ambiance was great for a friends group gathering, there was a lot of people here when we visited around 11pm for late night food. I can't stop repeating that they had a dance floor in the back of the restaurant and I was jamming out to the music! They also have a karaoke room too!!! They have a bar in front which was packed and drinks there were good. I highly recommend coming here and bring friends because it's just a fun Saturday night at Pho Nation. This is my second time coming to Pho Nation and this place has sealed the deal for me! I saw another post asking if this was a club or a restaurant and it made me laugh because this is definitely a place for a younger crowd, don't hate cause you can't keep up! I had the rare steak and well done brisket pho this time around and it was so flavorful and tasty. You can tell that they put a lot into their broth and they have a generous amount of broth + protein unlike other places I have had in the area. In addition to the pho, we ordered the fried calamari and the fried chicken skin where were such a great choice, not too greasy and seasoned just right. We ordered a pitcher of beer that carried us through the meal and a great deal overall. This place has made its way up on my list of favorites and I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more of their menu! read more

The fact that I ordered pho in Vietnamese and the waiter gave me a blank stare and had no idea what I was asking for. They apparently do not carry nạm, hành dấm or hành béo and they did not know what bánh tươi is.
