My spouse and I came here to enjoy a meal a few weeks ago and noticed that the staff was not very attentive. In the 40 minutes that we were there. For one of the first Vietnemese food place to pop up on Yelp's search list in Randolph, it's alright. I ordered online and got #67 bun w/ beef, shrimp, & eggroll and #70 bun w/ beef & pork + eggroll. I requested both to come with peanut sauce, but only one of them did. When you go to pay, the only option it says is to pay with cash, but when you pick up, they take credit. I got a confirmation text that they received my order, but never got one saying that my order was ready for pick up until way after I picked up my order. The restaurant itself is quite small, but there are a. few tables to dine in. An interesting layout for the take out containers with everything so compartmentalized. The shrimp was easy to peel and adding in sauce makes your noodles easier to mix up. This was a pretty standard bun, good noodles, beef was cooked well, and the lettuce, carrots, and beansprouts added a good crunch factor into the meal. We were on the way driving to going to the cape when we decided that we want some pho. We actually stopped by braintree mall but we didn't want to be going out of the way just to get food. So I ended up searching for some good places close by. I found this one in Randolph. And it was pretty good and also it's not out-of-the-way so we decided to give it a try for the first time. We got to the restaurant after like 15 minutes of driving from the mall and we got sat right away since it wasn't busy. We got some spring rolls and softshell crabs for appetizers. We got pho, two different types and a pad Thai to share. It was pretty good. Nothing amazing and out of the ordinary. Service was pretty reasonable speed. The staff was friendly too! We stayed for like half an hour and got the check so we can head back to the road. They also have a bar in middle which was pretty good and they make some cocktail drinks too! Some of you familiar with comedienne Ali Wong (Netflix!) will remember some of her tenets of a good, legit Vietnamese restaurant: 1) Must have a number in the name 2) Service so horrible, you'll cry into your soup, but it'll be worth it, because of the soup. Our server (cute young girl) was very friendly, knowledgeable, and gave us service that I expected from a place like a friendly, small-town diner. Because I have been to many a pho joint...and it's extremely rare to get what I call "Westernized" service, like you're at Chili's or the Cheesecake Factory. It was an awesome, very pleasant surprise. She even helped the couple seated behind us navigate the menu, since it seems like their first time truing Vietnamese cuisine. She had a sweet disposition, and was very patient about figuring what sort of flavor profile they liked in order to give recommendations. From what it sounded like, her reccs were a hit. We were served hot tea right away, along with the pot. We then both ordered large #30s with a honeydew shake for dessert. She said it was her favorite, and it indeed was good and melon-y flavored. The pho broth is slightly sweet, but still pretty good. It hit the spot. Lots of very fresh bean sprouts, and lemon instead of lime. They don't use jalapenos, but small habanero chili peppers. The basil they use is heartier. Their takeout containers are a nice thick plastic. This is where I'd recommend folks unwind after a long day at IKEA. This place is right around the corner from my favorite pho place, and I always come here whenever my favorite is too busy or closed. I'm a little biased, comparing the two since they're so close to each other, but on its own Pho 98 is pretty good. I always get a small 26: pho with round-eye steak. Don't let the small bowl fool you. I still got quite a few slices of beef and enough noodles to get me full. The broth is flavorful, and there's an assortment of sauces to the side like sriracha, chili paste, fish sauce, etc. My friends got rice dishes. It's kinda funny because they serve rice dishes on a gigantic plate. The beef with bones came in a huge pile but there wasn't as much meat for the beef without bones dish. We were in a rush that day to catch a movie afterward, so I was relieved the service was so prompt. We were seated quickly, got our orders in, and got the check while we ate. Good Vietnamese food, large portions, friendly service, attractive price. I started with the massive Bánh Xèo, a sizzling crepe filled with shrimp, sliced pork, and bean sprouts. This oily monstrosity was a massive rice-flour pancake colored with tumeric and resulted in a full belly. I then needed to try to force down my Bún bò Hue, a spicy soup from central Vietnam prepared authentically here with beef, congealed pork blood cubes, pig's trotters, chunks of Vietnamese ham (cha lua), vermicelli, and various garnishments. Fortunately, the piquant and somewhat pungent soup was tasty enough that not much of it went to waste and I was able to enjoy the strong flavors and diverse textures that it offered. I live in a city with the second largest Vietnamese population in the country (San Diego), and Pho 98°C is as good as any place we have there. I'll be eating here again, and you should too. First time eating in house (have done take out before) and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is kept clean and the servers are very friendly and attentive. They were definitely playing an Adele soundtrack cause I heard at least 5 of her songs go by. So we ordered nem cuon, ga lui, pho tai and a pho dac biet. The appetizers were awesome. The men cuon had, what I think was, freshly dried egg roll skin which added such a great crispy texture contrast to the rolls. The ga lui was freshly grilled, super juicy, marinated well, and a plentiful portion for the price. Hands down best ga lui out of all the viet restaurants I've been too. The phos, which are pretty much the main reason for coming due to the cold weather, were okay. I've cooked my own pho and have gotten into the habit of not adding any hoison sauce or sriracha into the bowl as a means of appreciating the broth (instead I dip my meats into the sauces in a side dish as I eat). The first few sips had a super sweet, tangy taste to them - this could've been skewed by my sips of Sapporo beer. As I ate though, that weird taste went away. The tendon could also be a little more tender, ie. cooked down to be more gelatinous and soft... I definitely enjoy the freshness and quality of the food, and will be back.
