We had to drop my sister off for an appointment and found this place across the street from her appointment. It was cozy with booths on one side and tables on the other side. We found a table and servers were attentive. We ordered tasty rolls with pork and shrimp, lemongrass garlic noodles which were yummy and House special vermicelli with eggrolls, pork and crispy shrimp. So much food that we enjoyed

Great value and delicious, considering the price point. Even though the meat on the rice plate was thinnly sliced and sparse, but considering it included shrimps, a fried egg and less than $20, what more could you ask for. The pho broth was a tad mild but it included all the bells and whistles as expected. Their garlic noodle had great garlic flavors unlike Pho Ha Noi, which tasted like sweet spaghetti (if there's such thing).

Came for dinner and everything was authentic. Would come back here if I needed some Vietnamese food in Union city.

In an age of Bay Area Vietnamese Restaurants charging $19+ for a bowl of Pho or Vermicelli, Pho Mama stands out from the crowd! The dishes are very reasonably priced and quite flavorful and tasty! I ordered a Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken & Egg rolls. It was filled with super fresh vegetables, perfectly charred chicken, and accompanied by a small bowl of the most perfectly balanced Fish Sauce dressing. The egg rolls were also freshly fried, warm, and flavorful. If I were to change one thing, I'd add a touch more chicken to the bowl, but for the price, I'm happy with what I got! One small thing that I didn't really like was that we were charged a dollar for "extra" limes - which happened to be a few small slivers of lime.

Been awhile since I been here! Inside seems the same, basic setup with all the necessities on the table. Nice staff, food comes fast. The pho broth was lacking some flavor. Chicken combo plate was good, the shrimp and chicken had lots of flavor. The portions seem to be smaller than I had remembered from before. I loved the milk tea! Food tastes fresh

Our go to spot for Vietnamese food in Union City when we're up for a small drive. I usually choose the dishes based on what I'm craving that day, and I always order a side of spring rolls to share. My partner usually goes for a rice or vermicelli plate, and he enjoys the consistency in the meat flavors. This time we called for pick up and food was ready within 10 minutes. Staff is friendly and there's plenty of seating for those who choose to eat in!

The place is great if you're looking for pho, with a convenient location and plenty of parking in the complex. Place was pretty nice inside, I would say it's more casual dining. We requested to be seated at a larger table since we had senior citizens with us, but they refused and seated us at a table for four, despite the restaurant being somewhat empty. Otherwise, the service was good and fast. The pho was flavorful and came with a generous portion of noodles and beef--enough for two meals, though I was able to eat a lot of it because I was really hungry.

My partner and I were craving pho and stumbled upon this place. Friendly service and the quality of their food was good! There's plenty of parking since it's on the other side of the plaza. I got their bun bo hue and didn't think it was too spicy or too sweet, it was just perfect for me! My partner got their combo and said it was good! Definitely would come back again!

I would give this pho joint 3.5 stars. I went with my go-to order of bun bo hue during my first visit, and while the bowl seemed big, there weren't as many noodles as I would have liked and the portions seemed a little low for the price point. The flavors were decent albeit on the spicier side (which I sometimes crave). It wasn't very busy when I went but there was plenty of seating and the wait staff seemed to be handling all tables with ease. Food came out quickly, and you pay at the front as in most Vietnamese restaurants. Next time I'll try the pho and see if that merits a higher rating. The dish was good the service was fine but I think there are better similar restaurants nearby if you're craving something flavorful and fresh.

Piece of aluminum found in our chicken pho

My fiancé and I love pho mama for all of our soup cravings, but this time was such a huge food-handling no-no. We bought chicken pho for our LITTLE ONE, as we mixed the noodles a piece of aluminum flew out of the bowl! Thank goodness this didn't become anything more, but pleaseeee be careful!! It would have been 1 star, but the food itself is good.

Decent food, fast and friendly service. Menu isn't too big so it's pretty easy to decide. Portion sizes of the plates in many of the pictures on Yelp looked a bit lacking compared to some other Vietnamese spots. I was hoping for a bit more variety of broth flavors like they offer at other pho spots, but they've got the basics here. The fresh spring roll was tasty.

I only had the pho dac biet which was solid. Good-sized portion with plenty of meat. The lime slice in my ice water was noticed and appreciated. Easy parking in the plaza.

Came on a Tuesday night and there were plenty of table available (as well as easy parking) The price to portion ratio is amazing! I got the the Eggrolls and Grilled Chicken Vermicelli Bowl ($11.95) and it tastes just as good as other places but the price was definitely lower than what other places are charging these days. The person who took our order and served us was unbelievably nice and had the sweetest service!! Would definitely come again :^)

This is my local go-to spot for Vietnamese sandwiches and drinks for take out…read more I've visited for over a decade and appreciate how their food is no nonsense and solid. They are consistently very good at what they do! Sure, this isn't cutting-edge, fusion type of Vietnamese sandwiches and drinks but through all these years their tradition of delicious foods are stellar. In addition to their various selection of sandwiches and fresh-made drinks/desserts, they also have hot foods at their hofbrau section for various sides of carbs (rice/noodles), proteins, and veggies. Tips: - no credit cards establishment so bring cash for easiest transacting. - try to visit during non-lunch windows as the store gets quite busy. - their rice rolls with pork or shrimp, in addition to their vietnamese rolls are sneaky addictive. I recommend to try this spot if you're ever in the mood for yummy Vietnamese eats!

Their bánh mì is simple in the best way: really good bread, the perfect amount of meat, and a generous amount of fresh, crunchy veggies. I also tried nem chua for the first time, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I thought it was really yummy. Next time, I definitely want to try their shrimp rice rolls. I sat in there while I waited for my sandwich to be ready and watched what other people were getting. Everything looks really good and fresh. Good portioned pho bowls with delicious broth for those looking to fill up regardless if it's…read moremorning or night! Pho VN is located in one of Union City's popular Asian cross street malls, sharing a large parking lot with other outstanding eateries. The space inside the restaurant is large and can comfortably fit small and large parties alike. Reminiscent of the classic Vietnamese restaurants in this area, you'll find each table stocked with utensils, napkins, and sauces and staff scurrying around with bowls or trays of them toward their hungry patrons. As we walked in, we were motioned to sit at any of the open tables; the staff greeted us with menus and got us started with waters. Their menu is comprehensive and includes all your Vietnamese staples including popular appetizers like spring/egg rolls, noodle dishes like pho and vermicelli, rice plates, and delicious iced drinks featuring the traditional phin filtered Vietnamese coffee. For the pho bowls, you'll have the option of a medium or large portion with the primary difference being the amount of noodles you'll get and a slightly smaller protein portion. I ended up getting a large and it was plenty filling but the medium seemed reasonable as well. With each bowl, you'll get a platter of bean sprouts and basil leaves to spruce up your meal. Highly recommend dumping those in right when you get the steaming hot bowl! I also ended up getting an ice coffee - the flavor was strong and balanced out as the ice melted. It was a delicious indulgence! When it came time to pay, we did so up front at the register. They are cash only but I believe cash apps are also accepted. The staff were quick, friendly, and thorough in their service. You'll have a pleasant time here with your party and minimal interruptions from the staff unless you're looking to refill on waters. Overall, Pho VN checks all the boxes for when you're craving a hot bowl of pho and meaty pieces to go with those bites. I haven't had a chance to try their other dishes yet but this location is conveniently located, easy to get to and park, and accessible to other activities and eateries nearby making it very likely I'll be back soon! This watering hole will surely host someone you know if you're a local and if not, get to know the owners as I hear they have origins in the community!

TWO PHOS AND TWO RICE PLATES…read more The first time I came here was about a couple of months ago for Sunday dinner with my family. I'm not a fan of pho so I decided to order a rice plate, which was Combo Plate #2 that included one grilled pork and two fried chicken wings. The rice plate I ordered was ok. Even though the chicken wings were cooked inside the meat tasted bland. I wasn't planning to come back here anytime soon. On the menu however I saw a pho item that consisted of chicken quarters. The next time I came here was a couple of days later for lunch. I ordered the pho with chicken quarters. With the addition of the ginger scallion sauce the dish is basically Hainan chicken pho. I've had this type of pho at another eatery and is the best chicken soup I've ever had. Since the chicken isn't shredded, the meat isn't dry. Usually for Hainan chicken I would dip the chicken in the ginger scallion sauce. I did something different for the first time. I added the scallion ginger sauce in the broth. This brought more flavor to the broth. I'd rather have scallion ginger sauce in the broth than sriracha. I'm not a fan of pho. Having the chicken quarters pho provided me a different perspective on pho. When I started having pho I would order get rare steak and beef tendon. What I noticed is that the rare steak changes the texture of the broth, which becomes murky. Maybe that's why I never craved for pho. I find well done beef atrocious. After having the chicken quarters pho I thought why not try the well done brisket. About week later I ordered the well done brisket pho for lunch. From the outset I noticed the broth from the well-done pho is clearer than any beef pho before. How did the broth taste? The broth was the best tasting pho with beef ingredients. I think that has to do with not having raw slices of beef. The blood from the raw beef makes the broth murky. Since the brisket was well-done there was no blood that made the broth cloudy. Also the flavor of the broth enhanced due to the fat from the brisket. The well-done brisket give me a different perspective on pho. Maybe in the future I just order well-done brisket for pho. My last visit I had another rice plate. As I already ordered the chicken leg quarters pho I wanted to try the rice plate version. This dish is Pho Nation's version of Hainan chicken. Even though the scallion ginger was served this dish is different from Hainan chicken as chicken at Pho Nation is steamed and served hot. I ate two phos and two rice dishes. Normally at pho eateries I tend to like the rice dishes more, but at Pho Nation I enjoyed the phos more. If I want to eat pho with a clear yet tasty broth I would come to Pho Nation for either the chicken quarters or well-done brisket pho.
