We had their Bánh mì and really enjoyed it. They use turkey in their spring roll, but was still quite nice. Service is great and seating is limited, but with both an indoor and outdoor area for dining. A very casual place, for sure. We will be back as it is neighborhood cafe style. read more

I'm not sure what to say. The meat portions are small and bland. There is zero pate or mayo in these sandwiches. I believe they do that for the travel ability. But the overall experience of flavor and sandwich was really sad. Growing up I used to come here and order the same chicken teriyaki bahn mi. And this time around it's really sad how I'm realizing there's no flavor. I used to drown the sandwich in soy sauce. But now I understand why I did that. Only got three small slices of jalapeño in my sandwich TOTAL, but that was not a big issue. The bread was good, but too hard on the outside for me. The Thai iced tea with boba was a little too sweet, but that's my fault for not asking for less sweet when I ordered. My issue was with the boba. This café has been here for a long time, and I just tried it for the first time in my life. I didn't order a big meal, unfortunately. I just wanted to test it out. I ordered the pork eggrolls and the sexy (lol) fruit tea. Both came out quickly. The eggrolls were hot, and the tea was perfect. Not too sweet. JenJons Cafe is a small Vietnamese restaurant with a big heart. They serve delicious sandwiches and Vietnamese cuisine. The bahn mi is made with fresh bread and feels like it's made with love. The owner went above and beyond. I mistakenly thought they closed at 10 PM when it was actually 7:30 PM. When I returned the next day, the owner immediately offered to remake my order, even though he had every right to refuse. I will definitely be going back and telling all my friends about this place. Came here because I wanted a Bahn Mi, plus this place was much closer then the one I normally go to. Their combo one is my go to for every place. It was good. Bread was not to hard and the veggies were not overly sour but had a nice flavor kick to it. Only thing I have to say is that I wish they were a bit more friendly. I stood back to look at the menu more so I was not blocking anyone if they came in. I told them I was not yet ready and they walked away. I walked up closer to the register and when they came back, they said "What do you want?" Not really a way to take orders. It just did not sound really nice. Our go to order is 3 passion fruit smoothies, 3 BBQPork banhi mi, and teriyaki chicken plate with fried rice grand total $65 ish dollars. It's a super cute small establishment with out door sitting which is also our go to. Good food next to Union city bart. If your in the area if nothing else the smoothies are a MUST! Service is friendly and nice. Food comes out quick and this is hands down my kids favorite place. The roll is on the smaller side, but had that perfect thin, crispy exterior and pillowy interior and the sandwich had tons of fresh veggies, pickles, and herbs, which I love. This is a long overdue review of one of our faves for over 10 years. It is a small restaurant that's easy to miss in a busy strip mall but once you try their food, you'll always go back. This is our go-to for Banh-mi, Boba drinks & Imperial rolls. We've always done take-out which is so appropriate during COVID-19. The french bread is always fresh & stays crunchy outside & soft inside hours later. The picked carrots & daikon is the perfect taste-booster to any meat you might like. I like the Combo, with headham cheese. The 2-in-1 BBQ pork & chicken is also a favorite of my hubby. Cilantro & jalapeno are optional. We're confident that the quality & flavor remains the same always. It hasn't disappointed us. There are other items in their menu you can try. Can't believe I just barely tried this place. So much food so little time. Disclaimer: I used Grubhub delivery which I usually never do. Had the combo sandwich or banh mi. It had a decent amount of meat and veggies ratio and that fresh jalapeño that I love. Was not as crunchy as usual because of the grub hub delivery factor. The vegetarian egg rolls arrived cold but were good flavor and size but more on the snack size. Same story with the shoe string fries they arrived cold. The taro smoothie was just the right amount of boba and sweetness but once again it was room temperature and not as good. This is why I hate food delivery apps it always takes away from the food presentation and taste. Next wIll definitely just go in and avoid this. I will update when I do. read more

Jenjon's Cafe is located in the Union Square Marketplace plaza in Union City. It is hidden off to the side, so it is easily missed if you are not looking for it - I had never seen the store until recently and I have been coming to this plaza a lot in the past few years. I am always intrigued to try their jasmine milk tea with boba, but I usually just order their combination banh mi to go. The banh mi is about $8 and the portion is decent - I usually split it in half and eat the other half later (it is a bit inconvenient that they do not cut the banh mi in half though, especially if you are out and about, and do not have a knife). The taste is decent for the price. They close pretty early as well (7:30 PM). read more

Banh MI is my weakness. I am always on the lookout for a great reasonably priced place to get Banh MI. I have walked past this shop many times and had never looked inside before. I always assumed from the name that it was simply a coffee shop. Recently I was at the nearby Safeway and on a whim looked up "Vietnamese Sandwiches" on Yelp and was surprised to find there was one within the same shopping Plaza. The restaurant is small and is at an odd angle but what they may lack in space and shape they make up with personality and warmth. They have succulents decorating the tables and counters. There are bars counters with barstools along the walls and a few small table. Behind the counter is a digital menu and they have paper menus for those who prefer to hold a menu in their hands. They have a lot of options from burgers to fried/steamed rice plates and vermicelli. For the meal plates I was told they would be happy to substitute stir fried veggies or salad in place of rice or vermicelli. I ordered the BBQ pork Banh MI and fries. I was blown away by how amazingly it was prepared. The bread was light and fluffy. The sandwich was filled to the bursting point with BBQ pork and a good amount of veggies as well. The pork was well prepared and practically melted in my mouth. I know I will be back to try their other menu items. I think this place is going to be my new guilty pleasure. read more

Let me just start by saying, I'm extremely happy to learn that they are now OPEN on SUNDAYS from 10a-3pm! *jumping for joy with my legs to the side! I remember all my many hang over Sundays where I was craving a Vietnamese sandwich, but with much disappointment to find Jenjon's closed on Sundays... not anymore! I feel safe now knowing that I can get my Pho, Vietnamese Sammy, mixed plate, boba fix on Sundays (hungover) from 10a-3p! HOoOoorrRrraaAaayYy! If you like boba and Vietnamese sammies, Jenjon's offers a really cool combo deal; for $7 you get a sandwich plus a boba drink. The sandwiches are large enough to share between 2 people otherwise you can have one half for lunch the other half for dinner. My favorite viet sammie has to be the grilled chicken! Why? Because the chicken is full of juicy flavor and the taste pairs well with the slices of jalapeños, carrots, soft French bread and more! Only downfall is that the service is slow. Only one person working the register and one cook in the back, so be patient and goodness will come out in the end. read more
