I'm working my way through pho in the neighborhood in search of my new favorite and this was my first stop. Popped in for lunch and got my standard order - eye of round pho. Portion was good, service was fine if not a little over bearing (I was asked a couple times too many how things were), and food was fine. We've all got personal preference in broth and this was too sweet for me (even after some generous lime squeezing and chili and Sriracha adding). Food was good. Service attentive Crawfish was a mixed bag of small and medium. Chicken wings were good The rolls were really good. It was 3 different meats. Pork, chicken and beef with vermicelli noodles, lettuce and rice paper. I didn't use the peanut sauce but I did use sriracha sauce. Our first visit to the Pho House was unfortunately a bit disappointing and didn't meet our expectations. As soon as we stepped inside, we noticed that the servers were gathered near the cashier area, casually chatting amongst themselves. It took a little while for one of them to come over and greet us, asking if we preferred to dine in or take our food to go. Opting for a dine-in experience, we were then told we could seat ourselves wherever we liked, which was a nice touch in terms of flexibility. One notable oversight was the absence of a designated kids' meal section, which left us a bit disappointed, as we were hoping to find more child-friendly options. After some deliberation, we decided to try the Combination Pho, drawn in by the enticing description that promised a variety of meats, including brisket, eye round steak, flank, tendon, fatty brisket, and meatballs. When our dish finally arrived, we were surprised to find that it didn't live up to our expectations. The soup contained only a few of the promised ingredients, specifically the meatballs, fatty brisket, and skirt flank. We felt somewhat shortchanged, as we had anticipated a much heartier and more diverse selection of meats. The flavor of the pho itself was average; it wasn't terrible, but it didn't stand out either--it landed squarely in the middle. Perhaps I was just used to a more aromatic and flavorful broth, leaving this particular bowl feeling somewhat lackluster. For my child, we ordered a chicken soup priced at $11, under the impression that it would be a satisfactory portion for a kid. However, when it arrived, I was taken aback by the small serving size and the overall lack of flavor. It certainly didn't deliver on the value for the price, which was disappointing. This is a little confusing because the Restaurant name doesn't match the pictures according to Yelp. We originally were looking for a seafood boil type food place and the pictures for this restaurant showed it, but when we pulled in, it was a full on Pho restaurant. :/ Although we didn't get the seafood boil, their Pho was still amazing. Broth was hot and the meat was delicious. Noodles weren't mushy or pasty and were pretty firm. The cooked dishes weren't what my niece was used to because it seemed overcooked, but she still had a few bites. First time ordering Togo and I should've known better when the person taking my order did not know what Pho Dac Biet is when it's listed on their menu. This was our first time here. I had pho with chicken and my husband had the beef vermicelli. We love Vietnamese food. Have had it at other places, but this was the best we have had in a long time. POOR MGMT. YOU DO NOT SERVE SOUP WHEN IT IS BOILING HOT. Period. I ordered a Banh Mi with a side of broth. They brought out a big bowl ahead of the Banh Mi. I let it sit about 10 minutes to cool, I took a sip from the metal spoon and it was SO hot that I dropped the spoon immediately and I had immediate welps on my tongue. Had to spit the soup out in a napkin. I looked up and the manager was looking at me from over the counter. I was sure he was going to check on me as I dropped the spoon like a hot cake. It was like a branding tool. No. Never came to check. Then, our food came out. My Banh Mi french bread was so overtoasted that I had to break pieces off like a rock. Upon finishing our meal, I told the young female waitress to take the broth that burned my tongue off my ticket. She tells the manager, and he comes to our table and says, "Is there a problem?" (Great customer service, guy. How about a friendly introduction first?) I said, "As you saw, the soup was entirely too hot and I have welps on my tongue. I only asked her to remove the soup from the bill. He said "Well, we DO have to boil it first." I said, "But, you don't serve it right from boiling." He said, "You have to be careful when you have soup." WHAT???!! Me: "Is this your apology?" He stumbled on his words and left our table. HOW IN THE WORLD IS HE IN THE BUSINESS!!?? Been eating Pho as a non Asian person for about 25 years, and this was some of the least enjoyable we've ever had. It was very bland. It had too many noodles which diluted the little flavor in the broth. There were no sauces. I've never ordered Pho to go and not gotten Hoisin and Sriracha or chili sauce with it. My daughter has the spicy beef soup, and she said it was spicy but not flavorful. The egg rolls and spring rolls were just so-so. There are a lot of Pho places in this area. The Pho House is located in Brazo Town Center almost directly in front of Kroger facing Frontage Road/59 N ramp along restaurant row. I called my order in for take out and told pickup in 15-20 minutes. Surprisingly when I arrived the restaurant was fairly empty at 8:30. I went directly to the counter to pick up my order which was ready and sitting on the counter. The staff was friendly and had me in and out in a matter of minutes. The restaurant was comfortable with many 4-top tables, clean lines and low lighting. When I opened my order everything was perfect (no spills either) including all the sauces for each item as well as the soup condiments which I so appreciated. I ususally get irritated when the order is incorrect starting the meal off wrong. Not tonight, everything was thoughtfully packaged. I ordered 2 Shrimp Spring Rolls that were large and extremely fresh. The peanut sauce was a larger size cup, 2 ozs maybe, and enough for both rolls as long as I didn't over dip. Next time, I'll order an extra peanut sauce. I also had the Seafood Noodle Soup which comes with shrimp, crab claws, imitation crab, fish balls and fish tofu. The Soup comes with a small bag filled with soup toppings of bean sprouts, lime, jalapenos and fresh herbs. I loved the hot soup was separated with the filling in an actual serving bowl while the broth was served in a large styrofoam container. There was enough broth and protein for two servings. Everything was delicious, fresh, arrived at the correct temperature, packaged well and affordable. Looking forward to checking out more menu items and dining in. read more
