This spot isn't super close to us but we saw the good reviews on Yelp and thought why not try it out. This is certainly a newer establishment and it's quite nice inside for indoor dining. We did takeout however and only had a 20 min wait for our meals. We tried out a variety of foods including the steamed dumplings, cream cheese puffs, combo fried rice, combo Singapore noodles, Mongolian triple delight, sweet and sour chicken, honey shrimp, and eggplant (dayum! That's a lot of food!). All of this food ran us about 80$ which I thought wasn't bad. Def will have some leftovers for the next couple of days. We enjoyed the cream cheese puffs a lot and my oldest son enjoyed the dumplings. The food was well portioned with plenty of meat in each dish. I didn't really feel that the food was remarkably tasty though. I've definitely had better Singapore noodles elsewhere. The honey shrimp was a unique dish and we were torn on whether we liked it or not. While I didn't care for this my kids did. If you like eggplant I thought theirs was good, pretty sweet tasting tho. Sweet and sour chicken was a large portion and crispy and meaty. Mongolian triple delight was underwhelming for me. While there was plenty of meat I felt like it wasn't very flavorful or spicy. They seem to have a large menu and venture into Thai food as well so next time I might try one of those dishes out. The food here is authentic & amazing!!! They have a lot of great options on the lunch menu and it is all priced really well. We had the sweetest waitress who took care of us quickly and she was so kind. It was very clean inside too. Definitely recommend trying the Pork egg rolls, Kung Pao Triple Delight, and General Tso Chicken! It was all sooo good!!! I called to order fried rice cooked fresh. The lady answered the phone was talking very loudly and rudely to tell me that the fried rice was cooked this morning and they don't fry the rice fresh. I don't know who instructed every Chinese restaurant in the Houston area to precook the fried rice and actually serve it to the customers as freshly cooked. I am a true believer that if the customer wants to pay for what they want it shouldn't be a problem. BTW, I also offered to pay extra. Food is ok. We have ordered from T Jins for years while living in the immediate area. While T Jins has changed ownership and the food seemed to change a bit, I thought giving L & A a chance would be a good idea. I wasn't impressed. I didn't take any pictures but here's what we ordered: General tso chicken Beef and broccoli Spicy combo (chicken, beef, shrimp, carrots, bell pepper, and onions in a spicy brown sauce) Kids sweet n sour chicken Hot n sour soup Egg drop pan fried dumplings. Everything was well seasoned and fresh. Wife "this is good and the chicken doesn't have any weird pieces". It has a lot of breading on the chicken. The sauce tastes more like orange chicken sauce, and the chicken wasn't even good. A friend and I ate lunch together at L&A China Cafe, the atmosphere is very nice, easy to have conversations without competing with the in-house music and on sight TV. We had the Mushroom chicken w/ stir fry rice and spring roll & beef & peppers w/ white rice and spring roll. The beef was too tough to enjoy, the other menu items were just right. The serving plates should be warmed and not cold. It was great they had spicey mustard sauce upon request. Since we ordered hot tea for two, I felt we should had had 2 separate tea bags and water, not one tea bag in pot for two people. Wait time was around 10mins. Very fast service. Food quality everything was fresh and hot! Chicken had good favor very saucy. Fried rice was lack of favor even with soy sauce. The pork meat quality and favor in eggroll was very good. Fried shrimp are battered in a tempura style. Very hot and fresh though had a strong oil taste, not old oil but maybe peanut oil.
