Cashew chicken

Quiet, attentive and delicious. Can't complain. It hit the mark and checked all the boxes. Food was affordable and it even has a lunch menu available 7 days a week. There are also family-sized combos on the back of the menu.

Spacious dining area

I was recommended by my friend who knew about Pearl Dynasty at their old location in Sugar Land. Her family often order delivery from this restaurant. She wanted to check out this place as we were just finished our teas next door at Haraz. We were greeted by the employees after we looked curiously through the glass windows and while having a hard time to open the door. I heard from the owner, this location is smaller than the previous location. They have a larger restaurant located in Pearland. I really like the dining room layout and the traditional Chinese painting decors. Those movable tables can be rearranged for larger party. Yeah. That was what I wanted. My friend didn't stay for lunch because she had to run errands. So, I ordered Chili Lemongrass Chicken plate. The menu is well organized and all in English. Although it says chili, but it's not spicy hot. I enjoyed this dish because of lemongrass added savory to the dark sauce. I was told they don't use MSG but add little more sugar to enhance the flavors. These lunch plates can be served during dinner, just $2 more. Oh yeah. I am coming back and bring some friends too.

Lunch menu

I went here for lunch a few days ago and they have such an extensive menu that it took some time for me to actually pick what I wanted to eat. However, I settled on the Mongolian Beef! It was such a great dish. The beef was tender and seasoned perfectly! This location is nestled in a newly built shopping center right off 59 in Telfair of Sugar Land. I am unsure on when they first opened but it hasn't been here too long. If you're in the area, make sure to visit. It was clean, the service was fast and the food was good!

Egg drop soup

First visit. The staff was so attentive and polite. My entree and spring roll were excellent. My egg drop soup was amazing. It had tremendous flavor. Next time, i will order steam rice, as I didn't care for the pork fried rice.

Edamame
Michael B.

Decided to try this place out. Edamame to me tasted old and did not enjoy the sesame oil drizzle that they put on top. Egg drop soup was good but missing the crispy crunchies I usually put in the soup. Crispy quail was really good Hunan delight was ok. Little lack of flavor. Was caught off guard when I asked server to take back the edamame due to weird smell and tasting old, while I appreciate them taking it off my check since I only ate a few, coming back to the table telling me he tried the edamame and it tasted fine and that's how it suppose to taste wasn't something I was expecting. I have been eating edamame for years at restaurants and never had a restaurant drizzle sesame oil on top not look the way they did here. Seemed a little aggressive when questioning their food. Not sure if I'll return but hope they be more transparent about what how they cook their food or at least add the ingredient on the menu. The entire time I only saw one customer pick up food and 1 group eat at restaurant. Place was clean from what I saw but didn't go to restroom.

Yuck!

I don't know why I didn't check YELP before deciding to order their 2 for $9.95 entree deal to be delivered. If I did I would have saved myself a lot of heartburn and frustration! It has been eons since I've done a 1 star review. Actually if zero were an option I would probably have chosen that. To say this was the worst Chinese food I've eaten would be an understatement! To start, the 4 entrees I ordered were Chicken Lo Mein, Beef with Broccoli, Orange Chicken and Shrimp Fried Rice. Remember this was 2 for $9.95. That's what drew me in because I thought it sounded like a good deal! But being a first timer, little did I realize how small the portion sizes would be and how awful the food is.. Now to add insult to injury, when I called to have it delivered because you have to at least order $20 worth of food, I was told I was 10 cents below $20 so I had to order something else. Well I ordered a won ton soup at another $5. Then, the guy tells me 45 minutes for delivery. I think OK, that seems reasonable. Fuming at an hour and a half later, I call wondering where my order is and this gal gives me some poop about Friday night and delivery times of 1 to 1 1/2 hours! Well at this point I'm pissed but hoping my food should be here any minute. Nope! Another half hour later I call again and it's the same guy who took my order initially! He tells me they upgraded delivery times to an hour and a half and I'm like why the hell did you tell me 45 minutes then? Anyways over 2 hours later my food finally arrives! My family is starving and I'm really in a foul mood. But after seeing what I bought, I was even more pissed! The lo mein looked like it had a whole bottle of soy sauce dumped on it and was salty as hell! The orange chicken was about 4 pieces. The beef with broccoli engendered a response of "where's the beef?". And the fried rice tasted like they scraped the leftovers off of someone else's plate. Plus the won ton soup I had to order for $5 more was the worst I've ever had! It tasted like the whole salt shaker was dumped in it! I took pictures to show just how bad this food is! If you value your money don't go here. I should have ordered from Domino's which was my first inclination. Absolutely the worst experience I have had in a long time... YUCK!

General Tso's Chicken and Wonton Soup

Yet to find a good Asian Food Restaurant in the area without going back to Missouri City. I was headed to Jersey Mikes and thought I would give it a try for lunch. The manager seemed a bit irritated when I asked for a paper to go menu, no problem I scanned the code and decided to order the General Tso Chicken. It was a decent portion for $11 but lacking in spice and flavor, the pork fried rice was just as "ok" and same for the included pork egg roll, the one surprise was the WontonSoup, for some reason it was flavorful and loaded with chicken and wonton. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you have a desire for very good wonton soup, otherwise, the search continues...

UPDATE: The star of…read morethe menu is the boiled fish! Always numbing and tender pieces of fish. The spicy cubes chicken was crisp and tasty. The green beans were as expected. We ordered two of the sweet & sour ribs. Always goes so well with rice. The shrimp were exceptional - big, pump, tender and full of flavor! The only issue was the amount of oil used, even after we asked for less oil. I guess they need lots of oil to make Sichuan dishes. Our son came home after a big Cantonese dinner in Chinatown and tried the shrimp, then the other dishes. He couldn't stop from having a little second meal! Said the dishes were really good. We must have picked a good combination of dishes as I loved this meal!

Very heavy handed with salt even though the person in my party that placed the order specifically told the waitress to tone down on the salt. We also asked for no MSG but they turned to sugar instead so the dishes were a little altered beyond recognition. Specifically, I ordered their Szechuan peppercorn beef. As far as I know, this dish is always all savory and there should not be any sweetness. But, when I took the first bite, it was mildly sweet. Weird! Looks like for the rest of the dishes that has sauce, they used the same dark colored sauce; so, they tasted the same. Not a lot of imagination and creativity in their cooking. SERVICE: They are quite attentive in this area. So, I would give them 4 out of 5 stars in this area. VERDICT: Would I return? Probably not. When it comes to Chinese foods, the dishes need to be superior in their taste. You really need to have skills to survive as a Chinese restaurant.

On the table was a holder with chopsticks, soup spoons and napkins. It was a chilly, blustery day - I so enjoyed the Henan-style lamb with noodles soup! Three kinds of noodles: wide, hand-pulled with a nice chew; thin, textured tofu; crystal. Happy with the two quail eggs. There was a nice amount of wood ear fungus, kelp? and fresh cilantro. The lamb was tender and the broth flavorful. I saved half of the soup for dinner and chowed down on the pork bun. It was hot and toasty from the bun being grilled. Had to eat it right away as the bun was crispy crunchy and the sauce inside will eventually make the bottom mushy. "Yum!"

It came out hot and the aroma of garlic hits you hard. They have chili oil and vinegar available at the table if you want to add some to your food. I thought it was solid and it is actually enough for 2 meals to be honest. Noodles were chewy and soak up all the chili oil and garlic flavor. Even on weekdays, this place is consistently busy. The staff are always very friendly, the food tastes fresh and made to order, and I have never had an unpleasant dining experience here. Whenever I come here, I usually order the Cheese Crab Puffs. While this is a fairly standard appetizer at many restaurants, I genuinely think Dumpling World does them better than most places I have tried. The wrapper is lighter and airier while still staying crispy, and the filling leans slightly sweet, which I personally really enjoy. Of course, I also have to order the Pork Xiao Long Bao. The wrappers are impressively thin, and each dumpling is packed with soup. Another must order is the Pan Fried Pork and Scallion Thumb Buns. They are addictively crispy on the outside and filled with juicy, flavorful pork. On this visit, I also tried the Eggplant and Minced Pork Noodles for the first time, and I would definitely order them again. The pork and eggplant were very flavorful, and the hand pulled noodles were thin and satisfying, though slightly overcooked. The sauce was also a bit oily, but that is fairly common with dishes like this, so it did not bother me much. It is just something to keep in mind. Overall, Dumpling World continues to be one of my favorite casual Chinese spots. Between the consistently fresh food, friendly service, and standout dumplings, this is a place I would gladly keep coming back to.

The pork xiao long bao was DELICIOUS; possibly one of my favorites I've ever had! There is a generous amount of soup in there with amazing flavor and unlike many other XLB, it doesn't taste mushy and the broth is very clear. I would come back and just order a bunch of this! We also ordered the beef noodle soup which was just ok to me, the beef had a lot of fatty pieces and less meat and the soul could've haf more flavor. We also ordered the stir-fried green beans with minced pork which was also just ok; the beans were a little on the hard side and we felt that it needed to be cooked longer. For dessert, we saw their specials menu at the counter had chocolate hazelnut dumplings, so we ordered them at the end so it was fresh and hot. It came with 6 dumplings with nutella filling. They were delicious but the amount of nutella definitely starts to hit you after awhile and you have a big mouthful of nutella (not complaining though). These were best when they first brought it out, so definitely wait to order these until the end. Will definitely be coming back for their xiao long bao!!

Sugarland is not exactly a destination for Cantonese cuisine, which is all the more reason I…read moreappreciated what Regal had to offer. Whether it was weekend dim sum or an evening Canto feast with fresh seafood, I was simply thankful for the option. Now that option is toast since Regal closed last month. Looks can be deceiving. The exterior makes me think of a fitness joint more so than a Cantonese spot. Stepping inside is a complete contrast, with a mix of specialty murals, modern decor with a contemporary edge. There were plenty of large group tables, which made this place perfectly ideal for a feast gathering. Bathrooms were also clean, but this is the only place I've seen that had ice cubes all the urinals. (#1) Dim Sum was solid. The highlights for me were their stir fried XO rice rolls, which had a nice char and some good flavor. The Malay style rolls were also suprrisingly good and I felt strongly about their bbq pork puffs, durian rolls, and glutinous pork dumplings shaped to look like pears. The shrimp dumplings, beef balls, and spare ribs were average at best, I was also very impressed with their overall variety and the fact they had an extremely defined picture menu. The Canto speaking staff was friendly and the parking was plentiful. While the food wasn't all a hit, I do think there was some potential, which was not realized in the end. I am sincerely hoping another Canto spot will emerge in the Land of Sugar. __________ (#1) Yes, really.

I imagine it would be less if we would just stick to dim sum only. 3. Ambiance - this place is industrial looking. Modern and pretty hip. It's not massive. Not sure if it's the same owner as the previous Regal on 59. But it's a smaller footprint than the previous location. Dress code here is casual. 4. Food - I will say that the dim sum here is legit Hong Kong style dim sum. This is delicious and not greasy. I really like their CHA-SIU-BAO (BBQ Pork Buns), HA-GAO (shrimp dumplings), SIU-MEI (Pork and Shrimp dumplings), and Egg Tarts. Because it was our first time there, we wanted to try out their roast duck. It is also very authentically made. There are definitely other dishes that were good too, but these were the few worth mentioning. 5. Cleanliness - Dining area appears clean. SUMMARY - I recommend this place and will likely return for more dim sum in the future.

That combination is harder to find than you'd think, and they execute both perfectly. The food is consistently excellent. The chicken fried rice deserves special mention--when you order it, be prepared for a massive portion. It comes piled high on the plate in a huge, rounded mound, and it's very good. You absolutely get your money's worth here. As for the ambiance, it's much more no-frills than the Galleria location. The dining area is small, with seating lined up and an almost direct view into the kitchen. The staff usually consists of a cook and a female cashier who also acts as the server. She's efficient, focused, and pretty much all business--no small talk, but the service gets the job done. If you're looking for fancy, this isn't it.
