Really cute restaurant. Family owned and several generations seem to be working when we were there. They have different specials running both for lunch and dinner where you can get soup, an egg roll, and a slightly smaller entree portion all for $15. That was a great deal! We also ordered the general tso's and orange chicken - both were very hot and seemed to be made fresh. The flavors were pretty subtle for both. I was recommended by my friend who knew about Pearl Dynasty at their old location in Sugar Land. Her family often order delivery from this restaurant. She wanted to check out this place as we were just finished our teas next door at Haraz. We were greeted by the employees after we looked curiously through the glass windows and while having a hard time to open the door. I heard from the owner, this location is smaller than the previous location. They have a larger restaurant located in Pearland. I really like the dining room layout and the traditional Chinese painting decors. Those movable tables can be rearranged for larger party. Yeah. That was what I wanted. My friend didn't stay for lunch because she had to run errands. So, I ordered Chili Lemongrass Chicken plate. The menu is well organized and all in English. Although it says chili, but it's not spicy hot. I enjoyed this dish because of lemongrass added savory to the dark sauce. I was told they don't use MSG but add little more sugar to enhance the flavors. These lunch plates can be served during dinner, just $2 more. Oh yeah. I went here for lunch a few days ago and they have such an extensive menu that it took some time for me to actually pick what I wanted to eat. However, I settled on the Mongolian Beef! It was such a great dish. The beef was tender and seasoned perfectly! This location is nestled in a newly built shopping center right off 59 in Telfair of Sugar Land. I ordered takeout at lunch time and ordered the Hunan Triple Delight. Very tasty especially the sauce. During lunch you also get soup, vegetable roll and choice of rice. So the portion is very large and can feed 2 people even though it was only me. I didn't have to wait long at all to get the order. Here's the kicker: a local paper had a $10.00 off coupon which I used. So my total with tax, etc was only $10.00! What a deal! Even though I ordered takeout I would not have minded eating there. Came here during lunch time on a Friday. Staff could have been a bit more welcoming when we entered. I wanted to get fried rice but it was made with pork and I don't eat pork. They would not substitute it with chicken so I just said don't give me the rice as I don't believe I should have to pay full price for the chicken fried rice ($12). I don't know why I didn't check YELP before deciding to order their 2 for $9.95 entree deal to be delivered. If I did I would have saved myself a lot of heartburn and frustration! That's what drew me in because I thought it sounded like a good deal! But being a first timer, little did I realize how small the portion sizes would be and how awful the food is.. Now to add insult to injury, when I called to have it delivered because you have to at least order $20 worth of food, I was told I was 10 cents below $20 so I had to order something else. Well I ordered a won ton soup at another $5. Then, the guy tells me 45 minutes for delivery. I think OK, that seems reasonable. Fuming at an hour and a half later, I call wondering where my order is and this gal gives me some poop about Friday night and delivery times of 1 to 1 1/2 hours! Well at this point I'm pissed but hoping my food should be here any minute. Nope! Another half hour later I call again and it's the same guy who took my order initially! He tells me they upgraded delivery times to an hour and a half and I'm like why the hell did you tell me 45 minutes then? Anyways over 2 hours later my food finally arrives! My family is starving and I'm really in a foul mood. But after seeing what I bought, I was even more pissed! The lo mein looked like it had a whole bottle of soy sauce dumped on it and was salty as hell! The orange chicken was about 4 pieces. The beef with broccoli engendered a response of "where's the beef?". And the fried rice tasted like they scraped the leftovers off of someone else's plate. Plus the won ton soup I had to order for $5 more was the worst I've ever had! It tasted like the whole salt shaker was dumped in it! I took pictures to show just how bad this food is! Decided to try this place out. Edamame to me tasted old and did not enjoy the sesame oil drizzle that they put on top. Egg drop soup was good but missing the crispy crunchies I usually put in the soup. Crispy quail was really good Hunan delight was ok. Little lack of flavor. Was caught off guard when I asked server to take back the edamame due to weird smell and tasting old, while I appreciate them taking it off my check since I only ate a few, coming back to the table telling me he tried the edamame and it tasted fine and that's how it suppose to taste wasn't something I was expecting. I have been eating edamame for years at restaurants and never had a restaurant drizzle sesame oil on top not look the way they did here. Seemed a little aggressive when questioning their food. Not sure if I'll return but hope they be more transparent about what how they cook their food or at least add the ingredient on the menu. A nice Chinese Restaurant around Pearland and the Sugarland area. I frequent this place often with my friends and decided to write a review of the dishes and service I usually get. overall, my visits are always good, knowing I go to a familiar restaurant in the area. The Sugarland location has suitable parking and more than enough seating for parties of 1 to 10. The overall atmosphere, screams comfort and homey Chinese restaurant, unlike other new places in Houston, this one keeps to its roots and its owners which are a small family. Lisa the owner is always glad to serve me and my friends whenever we come over, as we know one of the employee's well enough, Jason. The last time I visited, I, of course, ordered a starter of Egg Drop soup and Pan-fried pork dumplings. Our main course housed a variety of dishes such as salt toasted pork chop, tossed fried flat rice noodles with beef, chicken and snow peas, beef and broccoli, general tso chicken, and yu choy with garlic. The manager seemed a bit irritated when I asked for a paper to go menu, no problem I scanned the code and decided to order the General Tso Chicken. It was a decent portion for $11 but lacking in spice and flavor, the pork fried rice was just as "ok" and same for the included pork egg roll, the one surprise was the WontonSoup, for some reason it was flavorful and loaded with chicken and wonton. At this point I am wondering if anyone can understand this guy. We are brought our egg rolls. They taste of freezer burn and seem to be direct from Sam's club. Two teen girls at the hostess stand/office area/cashier: "So, the form asks for my activities... but all I do is drink and party". She continues to talk to her friend about drinking and partying. Then one of the very friendly waiters (we didn't get him) walks up to the girls and says something. One girl says to the other "Of course he has an accent, he's Asian and all Asian people have accents". At this point my husband and I are just laughing at the evening. Our food arrives and it's all mediocre. The pork fried rice is very very dry. The sesame chicken is decent chicken but is in a thick gelatinous goo. I ended up eating some but eventually just couldn't eat anymore. $23 for a strange unintelligible waiter, completely inappropriate host girls (who were very very friendly when you deal with them one on one, but do not know what is appropriate to talk about when people can hear them), dry freezer burned food... The 2 for $10 is a neato deal but for those with big appetites, don't split it with someone! As each entree comes in the small to go container I loved the orange chicken. I'm giving this restaurant a two star because the food is good but the service is terrible. There's a strategy about this place. They add pork fried rice every combination. Therefore, if I'm ordering chicken that means I really don't eat pork so if ask for just vegetable fried rice, they tell me that I have to buy an extra rice (with much attitude as If I'm getting on their nerves by spending my money) which is almost $10 so therefore the strategy is to get you to pay more for your meal, and,is making me as a customer to debate if I'm not going back to them. I used to come here for lunch all the time about 4 years ago I worked nearby. I brought my nephews this past weekend after a bit of school shopping. We probably won't be coming back. I should have driven in a different direction for Chinese food. The main problem was my nephews lo mein. They used spaghetti as the noodles and gave him a tiny portion. Most (all other)places just give you a lunch size portion of lo mein no rice. He didn't want rice. I guess it was our fault. My other nephew who has only ordered chicken fried rice in his lifetime, doesn't need to ever see a menu. He said their fried rice was the best he ever tasted. That's saying something. read more

Ordered BBQ pork and chicken lettuce wraps. The sliced pork was so dry & tough it was inedible. Even though there was sauce on it, it did nothing to improve it. It seemed like it was old and had been sitting around. When I called to let them know, I was told that it is pork tenderloin, like that is supposed to be the excuse for it being tough. I was also told that I must have the problem chewing. You have got to be kidding me!! the other item was a little better, but more celery and sauce than chicken.
