The flavor of the soup, and the things having added into the soup are all different. Today I have large vegetarian noodle soup costed $15. I have added shrimps. Good pho, but... I went here for the first time just last week. This review was only about vegetarian Pho nothing else. The Pho itself was very good. Quite flavorful and came with a generous portion of raw bean sprouts, some noodles, seitan, basil, and a too-small lime wedge. What was missing, and that I've gotten from almost every other pho place I've been to, is other vegetables. Other places I've been to had nice chunks of carrots and mushrooms as well inside the pho. Worst Pho I've ever had. Period. I'd give Pho Hot zero stars if I could. I had lunch here today - this Pho Hot is much more spacious seating-wise compared to the new Centreville location. I sat down and ordered the Pho Ga with white meat. My server informed me that they were out of white meat - so I told him to bring me the Pho Ga with dark meat, and an order of Garden Rolls. When my food came out - it all came out together - but instead of Garden Rolls, I had some sort of fried rolls. I was hungry so I ate them - they were good. Then on to the Pho. I added all of the aromatics and veggies to the soup - then started eating. The "dark" meat was disgusting: chunks of chicken with gobs of skin, cartilage, and fat. And what meat I could find - was like rubber. It was inedible. I fished out all of the crap I could and continued eating the noodles and bean sprouts. Then I grabbed my spoon and tasted the broth. Ugh! It was so strong, I felt like I had anise, ginger, and garlic erupting from my pores from the moment I ate it. It was like Pho broth super concentrate. I could not even eat half the broth - it was so bad. I left it and paid my bill. $10 and change for crap. For several hours afterwards, I felt like these odors were just pouring out of my body from eating the broth. A lot of folks I know and whose opinions about Pho I respect - like this place and have given it good reviews - which means I am open to the fact that someone screwed up - I will go back at some point - and give the place another shot/chance - with other folks in tow! read more

Omg, this place was awesome! It's really more like a 4.5 I ordered the short rib pho and my boyfriend ordered the number 1. We also ordered the ground pork fried rolls ( that they claimed came with crab meat- but I didn't taste any-hence the 4.5) and the rock shrimp fried roll( my bf LOVED) this, lol. First time here tonight and will definitely be back! We started with the Summer Rolls and the Imperial Rolls which were both amazing. I got the Pho Tai and my boyfriend got the Shrimp Pho Spicy. The Pho Tai was delicious! The broth was super flavorful, the noodles had the best bite and the meat was tender and perfectly prepared. My wife and I have been to more than a dozen Pho restaurants in Northern Virginia and Maryland. (No good Pho restaurants in DC.) Pho Hot has the best Pho! Their soup tastes consistently good. The portion is large enough to satisfy a hungry stomach. Their veggie garnishes such as bean sprouts, lemon slices, jalapeno peppers, and basil leaves are quite fresh. I think they have a place to grow them. At Pho Hot, I normally order "#1 small" on the Pho menu, i.e. Pho soup with everything. Sometimes I will have their crispy spring rolls. Occasionally, I would have beef stew with French bread for a change. I highly recommend all of them. On a personal note, I get a chance to know the owners somewhat as a regular customer for nearly 10 years. The daughter and the mother take turns to stay at the cashier's desk. I was just there yesterday nov 10, 2020 ordered some Pho from their current menu and when it was time to pay instead of the price shown on their menu I was charged more. I asked the cashier about it and he said in broken English that it was because of the Covid-19 situation! Just so you know.. the prices shown on their menu are not the current prices! I usually don't feel the need to actually review a place because typically they're pretty on point but unfortunately when I walked into this specific restaurant I got the menu where the prices were not at all reflecting what was being charged to my card. Their POS system was completely off and the waiter did not care to adjust any prices. I was told by the menu that the prices for a Vermecelli bowl was 11.50 per the menu which i thought was good and not a bad price. So I give my card to the waiter and he proceeds to almost charge me $17.50 without telling me. I correct him and I'm like look here clearly the price is $11.50 on the menu. He then rushes through 3 other menus to find one where they literally crossed out the price to $17.50 with a pen. I was already at the restaurantant and was expecting to get some food so I decide to get the "Banh Mi" which was marked as $9.95 yet somehow I got charged $11. Even the "adjusted" menu wasn't right... ridiculous. I tell the waiter just have a manager adjust the price and there is simply no justification for it to be a whole $1.05 more for "to go" orders with a sh*tty paper wrap which you can see. As for the taste of the food, the cilantro in the sandwich was not at all cut. It was whole chunks. As I bit into the sandwich I felt like I was trying to slurp up spaghetti... in a sandwich! It also tasted like soap, i guess from the "attempts" at cleaning the cilantro. Of course improperly but "an attempt." To say the least I will never recommend or go here ever again. Plenty of seating for small or large groups, open late-night and meets the standard for pho. I got the brisket and tendon pho and it came with so much meat! Broth was great and the server fulfilled our request for sliced onions in the side in addition to the regular veggies and herbs. Summer rolls were just basic; not sure if I'd order those again, but I will definitely be coming back for more pho sometime. I've been to a bazillion pho spots around the area. I guess I should start reviewing them. Issues with this place: **Thin, watery broth. **The regular bowl is probably the smallest I've seen. **I had a strange chicken-like meat floating around in my beef noodle soup. **It was busy, but it took almost 15 minutes for us to get water and have our order taken. That is unheard of--usually you are halfway through your bowl of soup after 15 minutes of walking into a pho restaurant! Pros: **Clean, with a semi-attractive (for a pho joint), although slightly bizarre, interior. I do like how they give you chopsticks so you don't have to pluck from the container at the table that a million children have probably touched. **Nice selection of hot teas (the ginger tea was good). **I wasn't thirsty after my meal, so no extremely high sodium counts here. **Noodles were not mushy and cooked well. This isn't a terrible place or anything, but the differences are so slight between pho restaurants, this one gets a 2 compared to others. This is my new favorite pho place - let me count the ways: 1) Tasty, dark, beefy broth. I'm sure there's MSG in there, but it's not an overwhelming amount. You can smell and taste the spices they'd used when making the soup (star anise, a little cinnamon, onions and garlic and other yummies, oh my!) 2) MEAT! They do not skimp on the meat. Decent quality thin slices of meaty goodness. 3) Tendon. Oh good lord, the tendon. Again, not shy about adding the tendon chunks, which are perfectly cooked and just melts in your mouth. 4) Nooodles are not clumpy and claggy - I hate it when I get a bowl of pho and the noodles are a giant clump at the bottom. These are nice and loose and perfectly cooked with that slight chew. Yum. 5) Herbs! THis is the first time I"ve had an herb plate that has sawtooth herb (Ngò Gai). The basil is fresh, not limp and spotty. The bean sprouts are crisp and fresh. 6) Clean restaurant and kind of cute. It's a huge space, but they keep it spotlessly clean. I like that my shoes don't stick to the floor when I'm walking to the cashier to pay up. 7) Fast and efficient service, but they don't hover. They actually give you a few minutes to look over the menu before coming by to take your order. If I lived closer, I'd be eating there every day. A large bowl of pho is about $8.00, but it's a huge bowl with enough meat for 2 people. Thumbs up! read more

In my opinion, the broth was very good; it had a nice balance of sweet and savory. However, the meat can be chewy depending on what you order. I got the TAI (raw meat) which came out basically cooked and BO VIEN (beef balls) which had a lot of fat or tendon inside, making it tough. We also ordered the CRISPY EGGROLLS which were large (an order came with 2). The CAFE SUA DA (iced coffee) was good as well, with a good amount of condensed milk. I love this place. It is the only pho place I know of with an awesome vegetation pho. The meat substitute is awesome as well. My husband loves the number 1 or 2. They are with various cuts of beef. Do not expect five-star dining. This is a cafeteria like experience at best. The people will be responsive and will get you what you ordered. They will nickel and dime you for anything extra. My rating is based solely on the consistency and quality of the pho. Also most of the waitstaff do not speak good English so it is hard to customize your order. I love it that the patrons at Pho hot are very diverse. People from all over the community go there at all times to get a nice satisfying fulfilling meal. read more

I love these kind of places: Walk in, enter the dining area, make eye contact with the multi-tasking host/hostess/waiter/waitress, indicate with a show of my hand how many in my party, the waiter/waitress points at a table, take a seat, and instantly and efficiently menus and glasses of ice water are brought to the table. I actually deplore having to be told to wait to be seated when I can clearly see tables that are open. Shouldn't it be the hostess' job to already know which tables are ready to be occupied so when patrons come in they are seated right away? Been here twice, both times between 11-11:30pm, and so far consistently good. Place is spacious, super clean, and service is fast. Had pho both times, and the second time we also ordered the grilled pork with broken jasmine rice. These items are typical in these pho joints and I don't expect the menu to be much more extensive. If you're looking for more variety outside of this, try the Eden Center. It's only a few miles off the I-495, and easy to get to and plenty of parking (free). read more

Run do not walk... their pho is the best, hands down. We added the summer rolls tonight and they were scrumptious. The soup is so fresh, the broth so flavorful. They do takeout during covid so nicely and will meet you outside with the soup for payment / pickup. We have never been disappointed. The patrons consist of mostly Koreans and Hispanics, and the food here is quite greasy, not what you would have expected for Vietnamese food. The pho broth had a good flavor, but as the picture showed, it was not very clear and there were a lot of oil droplets in the broth (indicating sloppy defatting of the broth). The grilled pork on the bun was marinated in a slightly sweet lemongrass sauce. Nice flavor, but again too greasy especially topped with the scallion oil. Their iced coffee was also premade, which different from most Vietnamese place that give you the coffee dripper, ice, and condensed milk assembly to make it fresh. read more

The pros: -Comparable if not identical, prices ($6.99 for regular bowl here, $7.99 for large) -Has menu items other than pho, like vermicelli with various kinds of meat. -Ample parking, though it can be little hard to spot from the road unless you know exactly what you're looking for -Large dining area, lots of seating -You're right in Annandale and close to all sorts of Korean bakeries - Shilla, Le Matin de Paris, Breeze Bakery Cafe - so it's a perfect set-up for dessert right afterwards. -Longer hours of operation than Pho 75. Pho Hot's open until midnight. (Note: I've never been here at late hours so I can't speak for the quality of their late-night pho) Now, the cons: -Wait staff just serves you the food, then you're left to your own devices for the rest of the meal. But that's no different than Pho 75 or most authentic Asian places, so just putting that out there. -Seems a little drafty inside. Thankfully, though the pho will warm you right up read more
