To the owner lady I assume was working the register, The worst show of customer service with no accountability. Our pho was served cold, no steam, nothing. banh pho was still hard. We told the waiter. He asked us what would you like us to do? Reheat? How about you give me some more hot soup? Ok. He brought out a small bowl of hot soup, maybe 4oz. When we went to go pay and was charged extra for soup. I told her the reason why we asked was because you served us pho cold. Banh pho was still hard. She said you wanted extra soup. We have to charge for it. Should've let us reheat it. Well, you asked me what I wanted to do. She stated again, You wanted extra soup so you will be charged. I told her we wouldn't need to if you had originally served us properly. How you going to expect me to eat pho that is still hard and soup was cold? Should have better quality control before you serve it. She got hostile and said next time you let us reheat your food, don't ask for extra soup. Well, I didn't come here to eat microwaved pho. There won't be a next time. Have some accountability when you made a mistake, how about saying we apologize how can we make it better next time? I have been here many times with my family Pre-Covid. I think the pho is normal tasting, mediocre. It is not extraordinary delicious. It is okay if you are on a whim and this is the closest place in your neighborhood. I live pretty close to this place that is why I have been here a lot with my family. Today, my uncle ordered takeout. He brought a couple of the Pho Tai dishes. I think he bought the small sizes. I liked how they packaged the takeout order and included the vegetables and lemon. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with a lot of the herbs. Instead, It has mostly bean sprouts and one small slice of lemon. They also gave me raw green onions. I don't know what to do with them, but my mom puts it in the pho booth for flavor. The dish was good. I have to say the booth was favorable and the meats were soft and tender. Overall, I have to give this place a 3 star because the prices were kind of expensive for the amount you get. Since there is so many Pho restaurants places out there in the OC, I have to put Pho on a higher standard. My mom said they charged her 18 dollars once for a large Pho and a Penny worth drink. This is BF's favorite pho place because of their peppery broth. He said this restaurant was opened by a singer/song writer so you'll see the décor throughout the restaurant with his lyrics and composition pieces. Very beautiful. BF ordered #2 Pho special combo for $8.50 and I got Bun Bo Hue $8.99 small. Peppery broth? Yes, it was very peppery but I don't think there's anything special besides from tons of pepper! So if you go anywhere else, you can put a bunch of pepper and you'll get the same broth! Reason why I say that is because my Bun Bo Hue came out with tons of pepper sprinkled on top too. Both soup bases were tasty and I'm sure there's msg so drink lots of water after. I love how the meats fall off of the bones in the Bun Bo Hue and there was no shortage of meats. Their was a promo going on for buy 2 drinks get 1 free. BF got fresh squeezed orange juice. I got the soda lemon and that was watered down and the soda was flat. For our free cup, we got penny worth and that was also watered down. Which is why the 3 not 4 stars. Would I return? The food is average at best, but the worst part is that they treat you like you're coming in to ask for free food. The way the owner behaved herself was despicable not indicative of any person who should even be running a business. It was over a simple issue. The following is what occurred. When we put in our order, I asked the server if they still give out the herbal tea for free, to which the server replied with an affirmative yes. I admit our server is a bit younger and seems like he was newer to the restaurant. My mom actually had to ask again for the free herbal tea as we had to wait 10-15 minutes without any drinks. Other then that, everything was fine until we went to pay. The owner usually handles this and I saw that she charged us for two herbal tea that was supposed to be free. I told her that the server told us it was free. We asked him the first time, and my mom reminded him to bring our "free" drinks the second time. It was also free the last time we were here, that is why I know it was free. She immediately argued back and said this is not free and asked if I read the menu. I don't know why I needed to look at the menu when the server told me it was free... I told her that it was free last time and that is why I asked if you guys still gave it out for free this time. I wouldn't have asked the server and my mom would not use the word "free." The owner then yelled to the back for the server to come out. She then tells me that this drink has never been free and if it was free one of the employees secretly gave it to us! I actually called my mom over to confirm with the owner that it was free last time and that we asked the server to confirm this time. My mom did and also said just forget her. After we paid, I told her that it is not right and that she is cheating the customer. She then replied that you can't expect promotions to run "forever." Then said that I was the one who is scammer. She said I came in to her restaurant to scam her. Here, she just admitted that there was a promotion that took place. She had to make an entire scene and absolutely denied that the herbal tea was ever free for a good 5 minutes. Remember she said that it was never free and if it was free then the employee secretly gave it to me. The kicker is when she said I was scamming her. Yes, I have been going to your restaurant on a regular basis but for some reason I am going to scam you for four bucks with my elderly mom this time... This is not a business deserving of any support. The owner has no idea how to deal with such a simple issue. She then caused a scene and accused a customer of scamming her due to a mistake her employee made. She simply could not handle a simple issue To the employee that was involved. This was a cheap bowl of pho ($6.75). So cheap that it only comes with 4 pieces of meat. I'm all for great broth and natural flavors but really? If you want more meat, you have to add it a la carte. The bowl is tasty but I'm not that much of a fan of them skimping on the meat. My parents seem to dig the place though. And they have some great banh cam (fried sesame balls with mung bean centers) at the register. The service is typical of Vietnamese restaurants. If I weren't meeting my parents here, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to get pho at this restaurant. Oh and in case you think I'm too cheap to go out to dinner, think again.
