Came by for lunch the other day. Was pleasanty surprised at the late hours that this places closes, esp. on the weekends! Ordered a #1 Large which had everything in it. There were plenty of noodles and meat. Also ordered the rare steak on the side. The broth was okay. The noodles did become a little soggy towards the end. The Egg Rolls were also okay. They gave us plenty of lettuce along with fish sauce. The Iced Vietnamese coffee was delicious. It came out strong and full of flavor. Food came out quickly and service was very prompt. Cash only. Went here last night, they closed at midnight on Friday & Saturday, and 'til 9pm on Sunday-Thursday. So went here two days in a row! It's that good, well for me it is.. used to live in OC, always go to Bolsa to get good Vietnamese foods, now move here to Riverside and found this place... its a BIG DEAL!! :) I had pho yesterday, ordered the combination, but added meatballs... and had the eggrolls (fried) not to thrill on this one, but the Chargrilled Pork rolls... that's good!!! My bf even love it (he's not asian). He also choose the chargrilled rolls over the eggrolls. The soup or broth of the pho is light and good amount of flavors. No dine in allowed but there's basically a full house of people waiting at every table for their food too. I know it's Pho Ha so I know the food will taste good, but the service is very poor. If you can afford to go the distance, just go to Pho Ha on University in Riverside. Calling in won't make sense here, it's freezing inside and there's a table full of orders made way ahead of schedule, waiting to be picked up. Just waited 30 mins for this. Came here last night with my dad for dinner and honestly wish I had read all the one star reviews because they are all pretty accurate. I came in and was ignored for the longest time (even though there was an empty table). The people working there were not very welcoming at all. When we were seated, they threw a menu down onto the table and walked off. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue and my dad ordered the #1. We waited before anyone even came to take our order and it took a long time for the food to come. The tables and chairs were not clean and the servers were pretty much nowhere to be found most of the time, so good luck trying to flag them down if you want extra limes or utensils. Sure enough, when the food came it was steaming hot and smelled pretty good. It wasn't until I saw a long eyelash in my dad's broth that I lost any sort of appetite I had. To make it worse, I ended up finding a short eyelash in my broth as well near the bottom while I was eating. I was super grossed out because I could've eaten that without knowing! The meats in my bowl were chunky, thick and did not taste good or flavorful at all. The quality of the meats tasted so bad I'm surprised they can serve something like that. I wouldn't even feed this crap to anyone else. Health inspectors should really check this place for cleanliness. If they can't even keep the restaurant tables and floors clean it makes me wonder if it's like this in the kitchen. The cashier was lazy and told me to walk to the other side and get my own togo bowl. What kind of person says that to a customer? I used to come here quite often, but stopped coming after food and quality of service continued to go consistently downhill. Overall, I do not recommend coming here if you truly care about your health and do not want to get sick. It is not worth it. So good! It's hard to find a good pho with tofu. Their tofu was crispy on the outside & a little soft on the inside and it was so bomb! I always add lime, siracha and that brown sauce in my pho. I see some people complained about the soup ... pho is plain to begin with, so ... maybe they've never had pho before? You're supposed to add your own stuff to it. My friend got the fried rice and we shared spring rolls. She ate the rice with no complaints so that's that on that. The spring rolls and the peanut sauce were fresh. Regarding the customer service. The server came to our table when we asked to take our order. I'm very lenient on judging customer service. It's not like they ignored us. Not necessary to dock a star or two for that. The food items are good. The service is pretty bad, if you don't speak Vietnamese. The waitresses could all have some sort of uniform because they all just look like customers. The Thai tea with boba is good here, I would recommend. Personally, one of my favorite Pho places, it's good and has two options I usually get there. They have this fried red rice with marinated fried chicken and egg that is very good. It comes with a broth so it's not a completely dry dish. When this place first opened, it was the best place to get pho. Now it's a disaster. They seated us at a dirty table, the waiter didn't come till 15 minutes later after trying to flag him down multiple times, when I went to the bathroom, the smell of sewage was SO OVERWHELMING, I threw up multiple times till blood came out . The smell is now slowly creeping to the back of the restaurant, and there's no air conditioning..The waitresses are very rude and disconnected. You tell them no ice and they bring you an extra cup of ice. The well done flank looks like it's been sitting there for a while. We asked for to go bowls and the guy has disappeared for 15 minutes. I go up to the cashier area only to see how dirty this place is and how dirty the kitchen is with noodles and soup all over the floor to the point someone can slip. I'm not coming here again. If you don't mind having waiters roll their eyes at you, never check if you're OK, or just don't care whether you stay or go this is it. There were many things I was dissatisfied with. #1 we were new to the area and the menu, the lady rushed us into ordering; if it wasn't for my food knowledge I probably would've had the lady wait 10 mins. The food came very fast but the attention to detail was lacking severely. The best service came from a lady that didn't speak a bit of English. I asked for a Jasmine tea and 15 mins later I had to remind our original server for it. I understand she's an elderly woman and maybe she was tired, but pay people for customer service. Pho is so good here! You can taste the quality and time spent on the broth compared to other pho places in the area. I also recommend you try the egg rolls, it comes with lettuce to wrap the egg roll in and fish sauce as dipping sauce add a little hot sauce and it's perfection . If your not really a pho person they have rice dishes to choose from and the sauteed shrimp and chicken with egg noodles is delicious. The resturaunt & restrooms are maintained clean. The set up is nice; booths on the left tables on the right. The atmosphere is casual, they have a tv and music playing for ambience. Atm is located in the back near the cash register. The only reason why this Pho place doesn't get a 5 star review is because of the service. 3.5 stars for a better than average, but not spectacular, meal. We ordered a sampling of things that are our usual choices at another spot in Norco (Pho Amore): a Pho (Chicken Noodle), fried egg rolls, and sizzling steak. Everything was good. But, I was already hooked on most of these foods in Norco and I could not help but compare. The pho broth with green onion slices was too thin, missing flavor. There was a lot of chicken, but unfortunately all breast meat and overdone for a dark meat-lover like Mr. B. Plenty of noodle, but not a repeater. The egg rolls were ok, but the filling seemed rather mushy to me. But the lavish platters of fresh greens for both the soup and eggrolls made everything crunchy, bright and fresh tasting. We are talking bean sprouts, basil, and jalapeno for the soup, crisp Romaine lettuce, mint, cilantro, cucumber slices, tomato, carrot shreds and radish to either wrap around or nibble with the eggrolls. Abundant amounts. And of course the eggroll dipping sauce, that lemony, sweet, salty fish sauce was perfect. I just wish I wasn't so sloppy. My son, a frequent customer here, swears by the cubed filet mignon steak that comes sizzling to the table. That was my order. It was very tender, and had some basil leaves fried with the meat, but the sauce was too understated for my taste. Adding some soy sauce helped. I loved the pickled cabbage that came with the sliced tomato, cucumber, and lettuce on my plate, even saved some for one of my last bites (Confession: I always save the best(s) for last). And I appreciated the complimentary small bowl of beef broth seasoned with a five star anise flavor. Perhaps this is the better of the pho broths? A mountain of white rice, of course enough to feed a whole "white" family of 4, was my other side. Pho Ha has a very nice dining room, pleasant background music (albeit very American, not ethnic), and excellent friendly service. What Pho Ha had that my Norco place did not was a very extensive menu. Lots of choices, I was impressed. You cannot go wrong here. But truthfully I shall continue to be loyal to Pho Amore for my pho, egg roll, and beef bahn mi. read more
