This restaurant scammed my family, specifically my great uncle by refusing to cook an order that we have paid for. Their excuse was it was 8pm so they couldn't make the food, although it was only 7:45. I drive by here so often but never thought of eating here untill recently. It's hard to find decent pricing for a bowl of Pho in Edmonton these days, and guess what, a bowl of Pho here was under $10! We ordered 2 bowls of Pho Du Special Noodles ($9.95) and one order of the Taste Everything Vermicelli Bowl ($11.85) and all that food for under $34 including gst. The size of the bowl wasn't large or small, rather medium size in my opinion and it had the right amount of food. I didn't leave still feeling hungry but also didn't leave feeling very full (food coma style...lol). Definitely worth a try if you love Pho and on a budget! read more

As a long time dweller of 127th street and a Vietnamese food fanatic, Pho Du is my go-to place for vermicelli. The inside is extremely clean, modern, and lets in a ton of natural light. The owner and the woman that's always at the front are extremely friendly and eager to please. And, well, the food....it's fantastic. Everything tastes flavorful and fresh! Meat and springrolls aren't charred to death like a lot of other places. When Pho Du first opened I immediately became a regular and the owner would often sit with me and ask me what I found good and bad about his establishment and what I would change and leave the same. I was extremely flattered that he was genuinely interested in what I had to say and that he even bothered to asked me at all! I was further impressed that he actually took some of my suggestions! It's really great to know that some restaurants value customer opinions and put their needs first. I have been to dozens of Vietnamese Food restaurants (I love them so!) and Pho Du is definitely #1 on my list! read more

I really like how this place is set up. You walk in, order your meal, get your beverage, and sit. They will bring the food to you. It is quiet and relaxed place to enjoy your pho. Went here after a jiu jitsu tournament with some friends from the gym. We were starving after a long day of competition. The place is clean and nicely decorated in a contemporary fashion. Pho Du has cafeteria style ordering with a very small menu displaying a handful of different options for pho, vermicelli bowls and appetizers. The prices were average and the service was friendly and smiley :) My soup came out in a smaller portion to what I'm used to, but had good portions of perfectly cooked noodles, rare beef, chewy tripe and a piece of savory tendon. I asked for chili oil to be added to make the broth spicy and it came out perfectly. I ate the whole thing! As an appetizer, I ordered shrimp spring rolls. I didn't really like the sweet chili sauce they came out with, but the rolls themselves were very nice. No vietnamese coffee :( read more

The need to try their Pho Sate brought me back to Pho Du. The place is still pretty new, extremely clean and well maintained; possibly the cleanest Pho restaurant I have seen in town. Ordering was easy, #2 Pho Sate for $10. The place was empty, it was a little after the lunch hour but I was somewhat surprised how empty the place was. The staffs were really friendly and the pho came very quickly (perhaps because I was the only one in the restaurant). When the pho arrived, I could truly smell the heavenly aroma of Pho Sate, it smelled like they have the right blend of chili and herbs in the broth. The broth was fiery red with loads of green herbs floating in it, it looks good and smelled great. The first sip brought tears to my eyes... it was good and spicy!!! I was somewhat expecting a toned down, Canadianized version of Pho Sate. Not so, definitely not for anyone who does not like spicy food. I love my food spicy and this is right in the sweet spot for me in terms of heat level; for many, this dish would be too spicy - order it at your own risk. Condiment wise, not all of the usual suspects were there: basil, lime, fresh chili... but no sprouts; highly unusual for a pho restaurant to not offer sprouts. Portion wise, there were 4 slices of raw beef on top of a small handful of noodles. I think I can easily eat two bowls for lunch so I would suggest that the portion is inadequate for $10. So what is the verdict? Place is awesomely clean, the service was friendly and fast, the broth is good... really good, the portion was small, no sprouts & limes... I really have mixed feelings about this place so I can only give them a 3 stars rating. read more

Went to Pho Du late last night for the first time. Place was pretty much empty except for another person or two (we were there at around 9:20pm). Was a bit suprised when I saw that the menu only consists of 11 or 12 choices and you order it fast food style. Couple of appetizers to choose from (fresh and spring rolls), one vermicilli option and the rest were pho (only beef options from what I saw). Place is very clean and bright. As for the food, we had: - #4 vermicilli noodle bowl ($12) - came with a ton of meat in it (three shrimps on a skewer, lots of chicken, peanuts, bean sprouts, etc.). It was good and hit the spot for me after a long tiring soccer practice. - #11 pho ($9) - my friend had this and he liked it. Only came with a few bits of basil leaves and a hot pepper (didn't come with the usual side dish). Overall, decent place for pho if your in the northside but like someone said, I'm sure there is better in the area. Was worth a try and good for newbies I guess. 3.5 stars would be a fair rating. read more

This is the best pho place I've ever been to period. I've tried pho places in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Halifax and Toronto and none even come close. The staff is super friendly and know exactly what we order when they see us. Our favorite is the sate beef, it's spicy and so flavorful! Also their vermicelli bowls are delicious too. Located in the north side, I rolled my eyes when I was recommended to eat pho off 127 street. Surprisingly enough, Pho Du is by far the most cleanest Vietnamese establishment I have been in this city. Lights were actually fully on making the restaurant bright for once. Colors were white with splashes of bright lime green gave a warm a tropical ambiance. It seemed like the only employee there was this one Vietnamese woman. She was exceptionally welcomingand made funny small talk. Unfortunately, the beef pho I had wasn't exceptional. The flavors didn't jump out andhug me like most pho bowls. What was also interesting was the broth was very cloudy. This could mean either the pot was heated too aggreasive or there was too much bone marrow that seeped out and was not collected. My friend's chicken pho bowl was questionable. It was a beef based soup with strips of cold chicken served on the side. Chicken pho need tobe made from chicken bones to give it the lighter and less earthier taste. Lastly, the salad rolls were very odd. They had an abundance of carrots and were cut in half which was unusual. I was told this was an off night so i would like to return to give the final call. read more

I was craving Pho and this place was close to my parents house on the north side of edmonton so I decided why not try it out. I got take out and went to my parents asap which is just a couple of minutes away. When I opened up the noodles there was a few dead fruit flies cuddled up in the middle so I threw them out. I was happy that we had noodles that can be boiled fast. So we took out the meat topping and added them to our noodles that was freshly cooked at home. The broth was Luke warm so we reheated it and added it on our noodles and meat when it was hot. The whole process took about 5 - 8 mins which was ok but I was disappointed that we had to substitute our own food when I paid for the meals. When we ate it the broth was off and so was the meat but I was soo hungry by that time I just added hot sauce to it. Ok this is when the nightmare begins... Everyone who ate the meat got sick! My brother who only ate the noodles and broth was fine but omg my whole family was in pain! Talk about food poisoning! Never never again will I eat there and I will always trust my instinct to stop eating something if it has an off taste, no matter how hungry I am. Please beware when trying new places out, I never even looked at the reviews before I decided to check it out. Lesson learned! read more

Looking for some place in the North for pho, my trusty yelp app guided me here. With a four star average my expectations were high for Pho Du. Unfortunately, this is just an average place. I had the sate pho. The broth wasn't bad. It did have decent flavour and was a good spicy. The noodles, unfortunately, seemed rubbery. It isn't in the upper echelon of places I would recommend. In addition, when we were first given basil it was of terrible quality. In fact, it was rotting. I had to ask for fresh ones. I really hate doing this because you figure restaurant service 101 is don't give rotting food to customers. The place is very clean and the weird quirk here is you order at the counter near the entrance and they give you the noodles at the table. Never seen a place do this before. All in all it is an average place that I would normally give 3 stars. But the basil incident rubbed me the wrong way. Not sure I'll be back here. read more

My family eats here regularly. The owner is wonderful and so pleasant and the food is amazing. I have never had a bad experience here. Some of the items are a bit pricey but it's very worth it. My 5-year old eats it up too. It's amazingly clean newly renovated and a great environment. I plan on going back as often as we always have. Delicious!! read more

I'm a big fan of pho and this place has changed many of the things I like about pho... Cafeteria style ordering is different and not my favorite. I also think that they lose out on tips by making people order this way. No chili oil/hoisin/sirracha at the table?! I don't want to have to ask for each sauce that I want. Otherwise the broth is decent but not my favorite. I'd say this place is the fast food version of pho and regular pho is pretty fast already. I also think it's meant to make pho mainstream. Stunned this place has such good reviews. Pho is not great, have had beef & chicken here on a couple separate occasions. When a name has "pho" in it, IMO it should concentrate on it's pho. To be honest I haven't tried the vermicelli bowl, so can't comment on that. Service is fine, but to anyone that hasn't been here, it's almost a fast food experience where you order at the front counter and if it isn't busy they will bring it to your table. If I want that, I'll save myself a couple bucks and head across the street to the lucky supermarket where IMO it has much better tasting broth. If you want a clean inviting restaurant for your friends that don't know what Vietnamese food is about, this is a good starter place, I suppose. It is not intimidating at all vs. say a place in china town, but if you are looking for authentic, good tasting pho, I absolutely cannot recommend it. Very hard to see a reason to go here unless the lucky supermarket and co do hue have both closed... (other nammer restaurants extremely near this location.) read more

This is my FAVORITE pho place in Edmonton! Reasons why: 1) The service here is excellent. The co-owners Twee & Dave are great, super friendly and make an effort to get to know their customers, which is why I have become a regular at this location. 2) The soup is second to none. The broth is always hot and fresh and tastes amazing. It is not watered down like a lot of other places, and it isn't overly salty. I would say the broth is what keeps me coming back, because it tastes so good! 3) The rolls and vermicelli bowls are great. Like I said, always fresh and full of flavor. Try the salad rolls, you will NOT be disappointed! 4) The atmosphere is nice, it is a very cute and clean place. The prices aren't too bad either compared to other pho places in the city. I would DEFINITELY recommend Pho Du to anybody and everybody who likes soup or just wants to try and great dining experience. I will keep going there for as long as they are open! read more

Dropped in here to grab pho with a buddy, this place is drastically different than any Pho place I have been to. There's no physical menu but rather a fastfood McDs type board behind the counter that features a limited selection of items. Just like a fastfood joint you order at the counter, pay and wait for the food. There is no service besides them bringing over the bowl once it's ready In comparison with any other Pho restaurant, there is no complimentary tea or bean sprouts served with the pho & no condiments such as chilli oil, siriracha, hoisin sauce readily available. Serving sizes are small while prices are high for what you get - basically pho fastfood. Golden Bird Restaurant, Tau Bay, King Noodle House and ect are much better as they offer greater quality, value and service! read more

This is the BEST pho in all of Edmonton & area! We come here at LEAST once a week, usually more. A small menu means they can really excel at what they offer. The prices are similar if not a bit less than competitors. The service is absolutely incredible. I get the feeling this place has a lot of regular customers and they really make you feel at home when you walk through the door. I feel like they are open more days and longer hours than most other pho restaurants (lookin at you, Tau Bay...) Finally, the food is just amazing...and they put the bean sprouts right in the soup so I don't have to fight with my boyfriend over who gets more sprouts. It's win win!!!!! read more

This is my go to pho place. I come here at least once a month and have never been disappointed. The menu here isn't as big as other places, but what they offer is made very well. Their vermicelli bowl is to die for, as are their salad rolls. The pho they serve is the best that I've tried. The broth is never watered down so it full of flavour, and isn't too salty. I can't mention this place without forgetting the kitchen. It is immaculately clean! Floors, walls, appliances, and counter space are always sparkling clean with nothing out of place. The same pride in ownership is seen throughout the rest of the restaurant. The dining area and washrooms are always kept in a very high standard. Finally, the service here is outstanding. Fastfood & takeout type pho restaurant. Came here with a buddy couple weeks back, place is clean but is more of a fastfood restaurant than a traditional pho place. You order and pay at the counter from their super limited menu behind the counter and you sit down and wait while the food is prepared. Unlike all traditional pho restaurants, there's no table service or complimentary tea... The food arrived relatively quick but to my dismay it did not taste like traditional pho. The beef broth was bland and lacked the rich beef flavour of pho while the meat servings was puny. Overall, the serving size was reminiscent of a small at other pho restaurants priced at a large. In addition, there was no complimentary been sprouts and condiments were secured behind the counter while 2 bottles that were semi accessible was placed in a starbucks type station. Easily the best pho/vermicelli on the north side. The menu is limited to variations on those two themes, but the specialization pays off. The pho broth was light, yet rich. The vermicelli was topped with high-quality, fresh ingredients. Top-notch, for a dollar or two more than run-of-the-mill pho joints.
