At the moment I think this is the Best Vietnamese Restaurant! We love Vietnamese food and we go to multiple places! We used to go to this restaurant more often but since they moved to the new location, it's harder for us to plan and go there after work since it's not on the way anymore! But the new location is pretty nice! The customer service is always great! The food is truly the best and delicious! It's really hard to think about calories when I go there! Compared to other restaurants, the price is pretty good too! I think although I have to drive further, but going forward I'll go to Pagolac more often and I highly recommend this restaurant! read more

Pagolac on the south side used to be the go-to pho restaurant when it was in their other south location. Overall, they have a nice selection of food to choose from. In terms of pho, they have good quality pho with nice portions at a good price (especially number 26). However, their soup is not as good now. This is a great little hidden gem for veitnamese food that I just recently found out about. When we went in there we were welcomed with smiles and let to a table to sit. The room is fairly open and bright. The menu has many options on it, giving a nice variety to choose from. The service was fast, there wasn't much of a wait for our orders after we placed them (however the restaurant was fairly quiet when we were there). The food is great! Fast, fresh, full of flavor! I ordered the seafood pho, and it was so good, that i want to go there again just to eat it again!!!! That being said, there were some other great looking options to choose from, so I may just have to go back more than a few times! I had a good dinner experience here recently. They followed the standard covid protocols and we were seated promptly when we entered. The location is a bit hole in the wall but don't let that deter you from going. The menu consists of a mix of Vietnamese and Chinese dishes. My favourite dish here is their beef satay rice noodle. Their satay is is probably the best satay I've tried in the city and very flavourful. Their pho is pretty good as well and meat came tender. I also tried their beef pan-fried rice noodle and it's comparable to other Chinese restaurants. Although it has more onion in it compared to the normal beef pan fried noodles. One of our favourite restaurants. We order take-out these days so can't comment on dine-in service. It seems they have closed their other locations, so be sure you are reading reviews of the Argyll location! Some reviews seem to be for the old locations that won't be the same as this one! If you are ordering gluten friendly (celiac) they are not able to make the meals with grilled meats because the meat is pre-marinated. All is not lost! Choose the pan-fried meat options. #71 turned out to be absolutely AWESOME! These meals are usually large, we get two meals with the leftovers. This time, we were famished, so we ate it all in one sitting. Ooopsie. No pics this time - we ate too fast! Salad rolls!! They make them with shrimp AND pork. PRO TIP: If you are planning on ordering take-out for lunch - call at 11:30 because by noon, there's a steady stream of dine-in customers! It's very popular. You know you're in the wrong place when you enter a Vietnamese restaurant, and there's not an Asian to be seen. First of all, the menu ran the gamut from pho to Singapore fried noodles, which was already a red flag to the quality of their offerings. Secondly, my pho arrived as a big lump of noodles. The broth wasn't bad, but the pho was a clumpy mess. I ordered the Singapore fried noodles and it was so dry. Lastly, the service sucked. I was barely acknowledged when I walked into the restaurant, where the customer after me was greeted enthusiastically and showed to their table with some friendly conversation. I was just waved in the general direction of a table. I told my friend that I had suspected it was because I was Asian that I wasn't getting the friendly service. Then when it came down to paying our bill, we repeatedly flagged down our server and asked for the bill, but she was too busy serving her other customers that we just got up and paid at the counter instead. Excellent food! The green onion cake is one of the few I've stumbled across that actually has lots of green onion in it! The Bun dishes are awesome - the pork sausage is my favourite part. Excellent spring rolls - large, crispy and tasty! Pho on the other hand is pretty standard in my opinion. Decor is unchanged and old since I can remember but you generally don't go for pho to admire the decor of most places. I don't mind the old decor gives it a bit of character. Service is fast and efficient. Parking free outside in the parking lot. Service was disappointing. Asked for water with no ice and the waitress didn't bring any water. After asking her politely for the water because the adults needed medicine, she didn't respond and started giving me attitude. Afterwards she comes out with cups filled with ice and a bit of water in each cup. She took the order from us as well and confirmed 2 dishes but didn't input it correctly. When we asked her where the other order was she said "who knows" and walked away. We had to ask a different waitress for the order and new water. I'm not sure what her problem was. She was the bigger lady working on Friday, september 3. We were very polite and she acted like she had a vendetta on us. The food was alright but the service was disappointing to say the least. This is probably our favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Edmonton! I get huge craving for their vermicelli bowls. They are some of the best I have had anywhere. We usually end up going here later at night so after the supper rush time. We have never had a problem getting or having to wait for a table. The staff are great and kitchen gets food out to tables pretty quickly. There was only one time when the restaurant got pretty full that food took a bit longer to come out but it wasn't unreasonable long. Salad rolls are great! The peanut sauce you get is also very tasty. They put Thai Basil in the dishes which I appreciate. I am disappointed in places that cheap out on that. read more

First off I want to say the food was delicious. But the positives stop there. The place is not only dated, which could lend it well if kept clean and maintained, but it has an air of neglect for its former glory. When entering there is an entrance to a lounge to the right and a long hallway to the restaurant. Everything is floor to ceiling brown wood. There are two sad looking fish tanks in the entrance hall and the ceiling is dusty. Everything seems to have a layer of grime on it, while supply boxes and the dirty dishes are piled up at the entrance to the restaurant. They were short staffed on the day we went for lunch. It was a work day so our time was limited. The staff were slow to take our order and brought mine out 15 mins before my friends. They forgot the coffee. The food was great but I didn't enjoy the experience at all. When it was time to pay they simply gave me a total without the bill. I asked for the breakdown to make sure they didn't charge for the coffee and the cashier was annoyed. I wouldn't bother going here again. read more

It's been extremely difficult finding decent Asian restaurants in Edmonton. We tried two dim sum restaurants so far and were quite disappointed. However, my VIetnamese co-worker found this place and said the pho is pretty good. So hey, if he's saying it's good then it must be worth a try. Glad I did because the broth of the pho was tasty and the meat was tender. The following night we came here for dinner and ordered the 7 beef course. It was my first time so I was excited to try it out. It was lots of food, eating beef in different ways. I enjoyed it but not sure if I would order it again just because it was tons of food. Their homemade lychee ice cream was not bad either. This is our go-to place for Pho. We tried Lemongrass Grill the previous week and it was not good. I noticed that food prices in Edmonton is double the price in LA. For example, a cashew chicken dish in LA would cost $8, but in Alberta it's $16....I guess it's because of the scarcity of Asian restaurants here? read more

We usually order 2 to 3 times a month from them, and usually decent food, today we ordered again for take-out, when you pay ask's for tip, we don't tip as we order and pick it up ourselves, once the lady seen no tip she frowned, ordered for 3 people today so when asked if we could have extra soy sauce she tells me its extra charge if you want more, we were supplied 2 packets for three meals, I said no thanks and left, we will no longer be ordering from them in the future over something as petty as soy sauce packet's. read more

The parking lot here is small, and the area looked industrial. I don't know how busy the restaurant gets, but the inside is bigger than it looks from the outside, so I imagine the parking lot could get quite full! The decor of this place is so outdated. I can't tell if this is on purpose or if they just got lazy and kept it as was from whatever it was before.. I tried the 27 here - the pho tai. I thought it was strange they don't use cilantro at all in the restaurant - but maybe just me that likes cilantro in my pho..? I think the base prices here are pretty expensive - 12$ for regular and 15$ for a large??? I think this may be one of the most expensive pho I've had other than up North in Yellowknife..??? I got a regular size pho tai with extra beef (+3$) and they did fill it to the top of the bowl, but the bowls were pretty small in the first place, so I paid 15$ for a reg size pho with extra beef which I consider quite expensive for pho. The cuts of beef tasted actually pretty good so I had no complaints about that, but the noodles were overdone and a little too soft for me. The broth was ok but nothing to write home about either.. The only reason we ended up here was because it was 8:30 and all the pho restaurants in Edmonton closes at 8:30pm. I would recommend going elsewhere if you're eating pho at a normal dinner time and would only come here again if I wanted pho for a late dinner. read more

I think the bad review of the Beef Satay soup was coming from the completion. Only an idiot would say this soup "lacked ingredients", perhaps certain people only have the palet that finds McDonald's to be amazing and flavorful food. We've been coming to Pagolac for 15 years and have sent 100's of customers to enjoy the authentic Vietnamese cuisine and 100% have enjoyed the menu immensely. I come here pretty often for lunch. It's best if you come early to get parking because the lot gets full way before the restaurant does. This time when I was there the bathroom was out of soap and the hand sanitizer by the door was out of sanitizer.... It was a little unnerving knowing that no one in there had washed their hands properly.... But if you can get past that: Their salad rolls are good, but the peanut sauce they come with is even better. I usually get the satay beef noodle soup when I go in. I highly recommend it if you like spicy. It's the only soup in town that you eat with chopsticks and are full long before the bowl is empty (why do I order the salad rolls and a full sized bowl of soup again?) This place is definitely worth walking down a long dark hallway for, so if you are in the neighbourhood for lunch you should check it out..... Maybe just bring your own hand sanitizer. read more

Love the soups at Pagolac ! I enjoy the authentic flavours and the kitchen always makes extra spicey etc with no problem. The curried chicken vermicelli is great, as well as the beef tendon Pho. Maybe not the truest pho broth but quite nice still. If I want a take out meal..it isnt in a drive thru...it is the #68 combo from Pagolac. This combo has lemongrass grilled pork (thin smokey flavour) la lop, crispy spring roll, tangy meatball...served on rice noodle, shaved lettuce, cucumber and thai basil..they add extra crispy shallots if you like and it is a great meal. Had the Satay soup and the broth had a lot of different ingredients. Vegetables, ETC. Something you don't find in a lot of restaurants who serve Satay soup. Sign of quality in my books. The broth was also nice and thick which is the way I love it. Some don't. The noodles were hot temperature wise. Another bonus. If you like it spicy you'll have to add more chili oil. Yes Im a fan. I use to always come here for Lunch when I was at the U of A. There was like 10 of us and we got our food fast. The portions are huge and at a real real good price. The food here is always consistently good. If you're in a party and you're each ordering your own dish, you may want to specify that you'd like them served all at the same time. Otherwise the dishes will come out at staggered intervals and you'll have to play the awkward waiting for everyone to get their plates while the delicious food smell is wafting around game. Not the most fun thing to do when you're hungry. The staff isn't overly friendly, but they aren't rude either. They are just in the grey area of service. Although I've only eaten here twice, both times I was quite impressed with the food. We usually have another restaurant that we go to regularly for pho but they are closed for a few weeks for vacation so we thought that we would search for another spot to fill the void until they return. Those of you who were born in the 70's and 80's will feel just at home coming into Pagaloc South. Located in the used hub cap district of the city, the location of Pagolac is very unassuming and just straight up weird. Walking into Pagolac is even weirder because everything is brown and made of planks of wood. You'll travel down a narrow hallway lined with aquariums and the washrooms. It's odd that this is what you would see first rather than the host. I guess that's just the nature of the old building. Upon entering the dining area, you'll see chairs that were probably from the same hotel as The Shining and fake fish trophies lining the walls. It honestly feels like you're eating in a wine barrel. It's quite unique to say the least. To be on the safe side, I ordered the beef noodle soup with sliced beef. The bean sprouts that accompanied it was a little yellow and wasn't as fresh as other Vietnamese places. The dish came out pretty quick but my friend who ordered a grilled pork and rice came out very very late. We had to ask for an update with the waiter to see where the dish was. To their benefit, this place was extremely busy for a Sunday lunch. Although they had apologized for it, I do not believe there was any compensation. He had also ordered a bowl of rice additionally and this was also forgotten. I think because this was an "authentic" Vietnamese restaurant, I wasn't really taken back by their lack of attention to detail. For some reason, I always think Asian restaurants pride themselves on quality of food rather than quality of service and have just grown accustomed to it. Back to the food. My beef noodle soup was okay. Nothing to rave about, there was a hint of stale broth and old meat but it wasn't anything to stop me from eating. Add a dash of Hoisin sauce and lime juice and you should be good to go. Table of four with mostly soups rang in at about $56.00. A decent place to get your Vietnamese on in this city. read more

Yum, yum, yum and more yum. I came here on a recommendation from a friend and I will most definitely be back. The decor is really great. It's very warm and cozy and clean. The fish tanks are beautiful. Service was outstanding, very quick and friendly and attentive. I had pho and salad rolls but on my next visit Id be tempted to deviate from my usual order as the menu was huge and delicious sounding. The salad rolls were tasty but had this weird ham in them which was very unappetizing and I picked it out. The pho was hot and yummy, the broth was nice, good firm Noodles and a good cuts of beef. Now the thing that blew my mind.....homemade soft serve ice cream in the most unusual and delicious flavours. I took home a container each of avocado and coconut and just wow. Creamy tasty heaven. Pretty disappointed overall. The waitress just pointed in a general direction for us to sit, we sat, we ordered food, and it just went downhill from there. We got our main meals before our appetizers, our food all came out at separate times, we weren't given water, and we had to ask for our coffee and it was forgotten. The spring rolls and green onion cakes were good, but the lemongrass beef vermicelli bowl was not spicy as advertised and it was very salty and not enjoyable to eat. We waited a significant time for our waitress to clear our plates and ask if we wanted it packed up. We never received our bill but instead had to go to the cash register when we were ready to go, and even then still did not receive a bill. I will not be returning and I do not recommend this restaurant. Two stars only because it was clean and the appys were good. read more
