First visit to Saigon Taste, and I'll definitely be back. I ordered a Beef Pho special, it arrived promptly, and was very tasty.

Every time I come to Saigon Taste they never disappoint! Spring rolls had a crispy shell with a smooth but light filling. I always order the Curry Chicken Soup which is full of flavour and one of my favourite things on their menu. They recently have done some renovations and have a new drink menu, which I did not order today, but definitely excited to try. They are a family owned business and their customer service is always on point. Super welcoming, friendly and attentive. Always a 5/5! read more

Just stopped by this Vietnamese saloon. Its a rainy October day, so I figured a hot dish was a no brainer. Its a small place downtown. Nice decor and pretty chill music. The service was great, despite there only being 1 server. Right to the point but didn't rush me out the door either. I will say, there didn't seem to be a lot of Pho options but I might be mistaken. The dish was delicious! The price was pretty standard. I will have to swing by again in the near future. read more

I was disappointed in this as the experience definitely didn't live up to all the 5 star reviews. I went with two other persons for lunch. They ordered vermicelli bowls and I order the beef stir fry with spicy satay sauce. My stir fry was good, if a little lacking in flavor. But the fresh veggies were great. The people who got the vermicelli bowls weren't very happy with them - they said the meat had an unusual taste (and the "meatballs" were some sort of sausage) and the spring rolls were burnt. Maybe the pho here is great, but the dishes we ordered were definitely subpar compared to other vietnamese restaurants. The service was good though. read more

Since I wrote this review, the restaurant has changed management, and has gotten even better. I have become a regular and Saigon Taste has become my default noodle joint. The food is delicious and much more diverse, with some Thai dishes in the mix for good measure. The Papaya Salad is sublime. Saigon Taste is a great place to introduce your farang friends to Vietnamese cuisine, as it beautifully appointed, and the menu is not too challenging. Sadly, I must go further afield when I want tripe or tendon in my Pho... I have tried just about everything on the menu, and have not found anything I would not order again in a heartbeat. I tend to lean toward combo Bun dishes, but am currently on a Lemongrass jag. Ultimately, what brings me back is the service. It is a family joint, but the staff are all outgoing and friendly. The lady who runs the whole show, Loan, is one of the sweetest human beings I have known, and is running a top notch restaurant. There are a ton of family run noodle shops in this town with great food, but the ones that make you feel like part of the family are the ones that will always get my business. read more

This has become my new go-to when craving Vietnamese food. Normally we do Skip the Dishes but came on Sunday as they had a happy hour promo going on. If you ordered a beer and entree, spring rolls were $1 each, and green onion cakes were $3. They also do $12 lunch specials that would be good value. We shared the spring rolls & green onion cakes to start, both were great. Crispy and hot but not oily or heavy. I also got the lemongrass tofu vermicelli with extra veggies ($3) which they really packed on there. Total bill came to roughly $20 for a beer, 2 split appetizers, and entree with added extras which I found totally reasonable. Will be back next time to try out one of the lunch specials! read more

Popped into Saigon Taste for a little nibble after having my nails done at the salon next door. The restaurant is fairly new and I hadn't even heard of it until that day when my girlfriend suggested it. It is located in the space that used to be occupied by Wild Tangerine and the decor is almost exactly, if not exactly, the same, which is all good with me as I find it quite nice. We were there in between meal times, at about 3:30pm, so there was nobody else in the restaurant. Therefore I can't really comment on the service because of course they were attentive and our food came out in a timely manner. Both of the people who attended to our table were pleasant and professional, though. We ordered spring rolls to start and a wor won ton soup to share. The spring rolls were hot and crunchy and flavourful, not too oily or heavy at all. The soup was packed full of veggies as well as pork, shrimp and the won tons themselves. It was bursting with rich flavours in every bite - it may have been the best won ton soup I've ever had! There was plenty for the two of us and we didn't even quite finish it off. I like that the prices are comparable to other Vietnamese restaurants in town ($11.95 for the soup) but the atmosphere is much nicer and more welcoming than some other places. Got delivery, so I cannot comment on the atmosphere of the restaurant or staff. I can comment on the food though. Not good. Got wonton soup. "Traditional chicken broth filled with wontons and vegetables. One order comes with 12 wontons." There were lots of wontons, to be sure. And one piece of broccoli. Maybe update the description to read "vegetable," singular. The wontons themselves were okay. Not the best I've had, but it's also pretty hard to mess them up. Presumably these are not hand made or anything. And it's a simple chicken broth... Luckily I also ordered One Colour Rice Dish. It was one colour. A brown colour. It had some broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots though, so I tossed those in the soup. I ate a bit of the chicken and the sauce was kinda... Well, I saved it in the fridge anyhow. I'm going to use it as a base to make an actual good sauce later. I would have been pretty disappointed if I had to eat what was given. Had a spring roll. Was crunchy and passable. You won't weep with pleasure or anything. You'll be like, "I suppose that's how a spring roll tastes." Had some green onion cake. Was doughy. Not very crisp. Lacking in green onions. Also only came with soy sauce, not any fancy stuff. Strangely overly salty, even though soy sauce is suppose to be salty. I would recommend avoiding these. Unless you're into what I just described for some reason, then go for it. There's better nearby, so why bother? read more

The restaurant decor and atmosphere was nice, and the menu us very extensive, but the food itself was nothing exceptional. We ordered they were cooked well and crispy, but still pretty typical of any restaurant. I also ordered the chicken stir fry with rice noodles and mixed vegetables. The vegetables were hot and fresh, however, the noodles and chicken were not even warm. The flavors were nothing spectacular either... so I don't think I will be returning, We were the only people in the restaurant at 6pm on a Friday evening so it was very quiet and the waitress was very polite and service was fast. read more

Saigon is a well located Vietnamese restaurant. It is right across of Macewan university. There is parking available but not lots. The restaurant has about 10 tables. I ordered the mixed vegetable vermicelli bowl and an appetizer of the green onion cakes. The bowl is about 11 dollars and the onion cakes are about 8 dollars for two pieces. The food came promptly and the service was courteous. The food was also delicious and well priced. Overrall Saigon is great for a good meal. The only recommendation is to make dishes a bit more interesting. This place was good but so are other Vietnamese places in town that serve the same food. read more

What a pleasant surprise Saigon Taste was! I was driving around down town in search of some pre gig scran unsure of what to grab when I spied this establishment. In I headed and some great food was had. I tried the deep fried wanton followed by the beef vermicelli bowl, so tasty! A little bottle of Saigon 333 beer on the side goes down nicely as an accompaniment. Service was great, and the price is awesomely cheap. Grand all round. It's a shame that there weren't too many people in here, definitely a hidden gem. read more

I was just planning to go for a burger in the area I instead came to Saigon Taste. They advertising at the door stated a $9.95 lunch menu. I ordered the vermicelli with chicken, green onion cake, and a Vietnamese Coffee. The green onion cake was a bit of fluff pastry meet onion cake the dipping sauce a sweet n' sour that was great. The main entree the vermicelli with chicken was amazing the fish sauce was smooth the mix of peppers, bok choy, and chicken was delicious, I used a Asian soup spoon to get the juice at the bottom, tasted like butter yet they said they didn't use butter, well that was an amazing new taste for me. I finished with my Vietnamese Coffee while writing this review. I gave it five ! Great in every way, even great Wi-Fi reception. read more

I came here looking for Wild Tangerine but was somewhat saddened it was no longer at this location. But my expectations were surpassed! Feeling a little under the weather I had a serious need for some Pho. My go to food when I need to sweat it out! We were greeted by a happy, smiling Asian man and I was immediately brought back to my time spent in SE Asia. Cheesy Asian music and high school dance disco lights swirled across the walls... Decor is modern and very clean. We started with Green Onion Cakes which were the best I've ever had! My sweetheart chose the Pho with rare beef, well done beef and beef balls in a beef broth; I had the Pho with well done beef and his daughter had the vermicelli bowl with pork and beef. While I can only speak for my own food their food looked fantastic! The pork (which looked way too good for me not to steal a piece) was exceptional! The Pho was served with bean sprouts, basil and a lemon (wish it had been a lime...) it was piping hot and the broth was a little under seasoned for my taste. I added a heavy spoonful of chilli paste and some soy for salt, I like spicy!! The beef was perfect, thinly sliced and not greasy at all. The noodles were perfectly al dente, and after sitting in the hot soup they softened up just right. This is exactly what I needed to battle the sniffles! Not quite as good as what I ate everyday in Vietnam but, I will be back Pho SURE!! Haha!! read more

Well I have finally found the place that lives up to the Legendary Tai Bhin that was near St. Joes High School which was a secret to most. This place has wonderful new owners that must have learned from the best!! They new of Tai Bhin very well and to me there is no surprise. Wonderfully prepared bowls and great Pho on two ocasions so far. I will be back to try the rest of the menu which includes dishes not found in many Vietnamese restaurants. Went at lunch hour on a Wednesday and the service was fast, the food was very plentiful and good and I will go back! Was able to eat and get back to work on time and the menu is similar to places like Doan's with competitive prices. The restaurant itself is beautiful. This place is a hidden gem! I found it today by accident. I was craving noodle soup and the place I used to go was closed so I found Saigon on yelp and decided to give it a try. Everything is amazingly fresh in here! I had spicy beef noodle soup and spring rolls. The spring rolls were so fresh and tasty, even the small salad beside the spring rolls were very fresh. The soup tasted really good and was not overly spicy. The decor is simple and nice and makes you feel so comfortable and at peace. The music is very nice and not too loud. Last but not least, all these were a part of their lunch special and the prices were so amazing for the quantity and quality! Their lunch special menu is quit large and you can find almost anything for any taste in it (about 20 items). I will definitely go back. It is worth being your regular place for lunch or dinner. read more

I was not very impressed. I was excited to try a new pho joint in my neighbourhood but it definitely will not be my new go to place. The decor and the service are the two positive factors that earned a 3 star review from me as the food itself was a solid 2 star. Decor is very nice; clean, modern and welcoming. Great lighting and good music set a pleasant atmosphere. The service is very quick, friendly and attentive. But.....the food. I had steak pho and salad rolls as I always do at Vietnamese places. The salad rolls were ok, nothing special and more boring than many I've tried. The waitress brought out the pho fixins which were abysmal. The sprouts were waaaay past their prime, brown and borderline slimy, which I think is totally unacceptable to serve. There was a slice of lemon instead of lime which I found odd and I just avoided the whole plate which I've never done before. The add-ins are my fave part of pho. The soup itself, underwhelming. Broth was kinda wimpy, the beef was sparse and the noodles were mushy. The whole thing didn't didn't feel nice in my mouth. I won't be back. read more

I ordered from Saigon Taste through Skip the Dishes today for my lunch and I was really disappointed. For years now, I have been looking for Vietnamese spring rolls in the Saigon style (deep fried with rice paper instead of the thicker batter) and their website shows such rolls but the ones that came were the regular ones! So gutted! Also, I ordered a won ton soup and it came with a bunch of vermicelli noodles and only three... yes three... won tons. That is not acceptable in my book. So yeah, I will not be ordering from them again... nor go eat at their restaurant. Very disappointed. read more

I popped in here the other day for lunch, as it was located conveniently close to where I needed to be that afternoon. I ordered off of the lunch special menu, which was basically a collection of noodle soups, vermicelli bowls, and a few other items. Several of them were the same price as in the normal menu (since pho doesn't tend to be on the expensive side anyway), and other items were at a discount, like the green onion cake. I ordered one, along with a bowl of pho with medium rare beef - always the first thing I try when I am in a new-to-me Vietnamese place. My onion cake was nicely crispy, not greasy, and served with a sweet and spicy soy sauce. My soup was very hot, a good portion, and the beef was tender - all good things. The broth was not that complex in flavour, and mostly had a bland, beefy taste. I prefer a broth that tastes more from cilantro and other seasonings, but this was still a satisfying bowl in a good location at a decent price. Also, the place is very nice - clean, spacious, and I love how the faucet in the washroom changed colours like a disco ball when it was in use. I'll be back when I am in the area. read more
