Clean, modern restaurant. The restaurant was steady even though we were eating around 2pm. Service was quick and efficient like I find most Vietnamese restaurants. The beef satay noodle soup was creamy and rich and very full of peanut flavour. It was mildly spicy for my taste and the chili oil on the table seemed more mild as well. My partner got the beef satay báhn mì and he said it was ok. He just wished there was paté on it

I'm always eager to try new restaurants and sometimes it's a hit or miss. This one is definitely a HIT! For appetizers, we started with the Pork and Shrimp Tapioca Dumplings was so good that I had to order another round. The texture of the dumplings was soft and chewy; every bite was so flavorful. Their Beef Satay soup is a dream! If you love coconut and nutty flavors; I would highly recommend. I was also lucky enough to try their Vietnamese Beef Stew aka Pho Bo Kho ; the flavour was so powerful, it would be the Beyoncé of Beef stews. Every bite had a lasting impression. Not only that the food was superb, their staff was very friendly and helpful. I love the decor in the restaurant, everything is so blinging, I forgot I was in Edmonton for a hot minute. Congratulations to the new owners! I will definitely be back to try more items.

We dropped into Pho Thanh for a second visit, this time for supper. Their restaurant is impeccable with an amazing menu selection. The service is efficient and excellent. We chose the vermicelli bowl with chicken and egg roll, which is ample portioned, fresh and very tasty. We will definitely return to try our other dishes! Monday night football is on the large screen...yea!

A brand new family owned Vietnamese restaurant has opened up on the south side of Edmonton. I can probably count on one hand the Vietnamese restaurants I like to eat pho at, and this is now one of them. The broth was quite clear and flavourful with a good balance of all the spices. I ordered the large Pho Dac Biet and it was a generous portion. The beef was very nicely sliced thin and came out rare to medium rare as it should be. The vegetable garnishes were your standard Thai basil and bean sprouts, but there was also some purple cabbage on the side so that was a little different. The staff were all very welcoming and attentive. I would definitely recommend trying this place out to see for yourself!

I use to come here when this location use to be 'IPho', and then I stopped because I noticed that the quality and the taste was just not there anymore... I drove by recently and noticed that it was a new restaurant called Pho Thanh, and I was intrigued and I has to try this place. I was not disappointed. I found out that the waitress that served me use to work at this other pho place that I went to and her mom recently bought this restuarant and changed it to Pho Thanh. I am so glad that I stopped in! The service was not only good, the food was delicious. I think this might be my new go to place for pho! We ordered the classic beef pho and the bun bo hue. We also got a vermicelli bowl. Everything that came out was delicious tasting and definitely hit the spot for us. Now that the weather is taking a turn for the cold, I'll be making my way here lots for some nice hot comfort food. Definitely go here for food, Pho Thanh is a must if you're looking for a good Vietnamese restaurant on the Southside.

Best beef satay soup in the city. I have tried many and never one with as much flavour as this. Best broth ever.

This is one of my favourite vietnamese places for soup and appetizers. The rice and vermicelli dishes are mediocre in comparison so make sure to order what they specialize in. If I come with a big group I like to order as many appetizers as possible as it's similar to vietnamese street foods like crepes, tapioca dumplings and deep fried goodies. All of it is authentic and delicious. My must orders here are the duck salad and soup combo. It's what I come here for as no other place in edmonton has it on the menu that I know of. And it's pretty darn delicious. If I don't get that. The bun bo hue is loaded with so many meats that I never can finish it! I can't wait to go back to this locally owned business run by a family. Although service is not the greatest. They do provide whatever you need if you ask for it. They definitely won't bother you when you visit here. As most people just eat quick and leave. It's not one of those places you sit and chat and have drinks at. But for what they offer. It's affordable fast convenient and authentic. One of the best in edmonton!

Little has changed on the interior, except for the addition of a large fish tank. The menu is very typical of Vietnamese noodle houses, featuring a good selection of pho noodle soup, vermicelli noodle bowls, and rice dishes. I opted for a bowl of pho with medium sliced beef and brisket. My soup was full of meat which was reasonably tender and lean, and came in a broth that was well-seasoned. Colleen, my co-Volunteer Coordinator, ordered a bowl of Thai spicy pho, and she ordered it without any meat. She was happy with the flavour of her soup and its abundance of noodles. I started with a green onion cake, finding the two large rings of fried dough and green onions to be large and not too greasy, as well as a bit cheaper than I've had elsewhere. I also decided to do something I rarely do when I order pho - even though I find the complimentary green tea and broth from the soup to be more than enough liquid intake for one meal, I decided to try one of the iced drinks. Being a dreary winter day I felt some extra vitamin C was in order, and opted for a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice. It was incredibly fresh and full of pulp - I literally felt like I was drinking an orange in liquid form. Prices are in line, if not lower, than other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Our entire meal, which also included a can of pop for Colleen, cost less than $25 before the tip. Service was fast and friendly and neither of us had any complaints about the food. Winter is the perfect time for a steaming bowl of pho, so consider heading to Viet Huong.

Service is fast, but minimal. Nobody came to check on us at all during the duration of our meal. I had the beef satay soup, which, unfortunately, is only available in the regular size. I normally don't find the regular size filling enough to last me until the next meal. The soup was good though; not overly spicy with a nice peanut flavor to it. Not a fan of how lean the beef was though; I prefer some fattiness to my meat. My brother and mom both ordered a large bowl of pho and they felt the broth was watered down and bland. My mom felt the large size just meant more broth and did not feel full at the end of her meal. My mom also did not like how lean/tough the beef in her pho was either. For 2 large bowls of pho, a regular size bowl of satay, a small bowl of noodle only and a side order of spring rolls came out to just over $56. The Groupon is a good deal, but I don't know if I'd make this place one of my go-tos for Vietnamese food as there is definitely better out there. Staff won't allow happy hour specials at discounted price despite being in happy hour time frame. Hoang long is a modern clean space with bamboo accents and a newly renovated area. There is a large patio out front for summer. But it being closed off made the entrance kinda blending in. I was looking for the entrance and walked right by it. Trying to figure out how you get in is a slight challenge. As the door blends in so well and it appears it's just the patio. But that's the entrance. I visited quite early during happy hour at around 6pm. The place was entirely empty except for staff which was slightly disheartening. But I'm sure this place is bustling during the lunch hours. Wait staff were slow to greet me so I sat myself and grabbed my own menus. The menu Is vast. A huge range of thai and vietnamese foods. From soups, sandwiches, grilled meats and stews. Looking through the menu was overwhelming but at least there is something for everyone. We decided on trying the chicken satays with peanut sauce. These were a famous item popular during the taste of edmonton. They did not disappoint. They charred them so nicely I could hear the fire crackling in the dead of winter. But the best part was the peanut sauce. They don't provide this during the taste of edmonton. But it brings the dish to new heights. I would say...stick to the grilled meats here. They don't disappoint. I throughly enjoyed my bun bo hue. It was authentic and tasty. It made my list for top 5 in edmonton for sure. Portion was perfect and the ratio of meats and noodles were just right. Another great dish. My only vice was that it was happy hour...advertised from 3-7pm. But the staff would not allow discounted prices despite it only being 6pm. They had decent options like wine, beer or a customized cocktail for $4. The server states happy hour is over despite it clearly stating it is until 7pm on the menu. I point to the board and he says it's full price. Whatever. I don't like misrepresentation on menus. And discrepancys are misleading. For this I minused a star. Service was haphazard. I seated myself. Got my own condiments and even got my own drinks. I had to go to the counter to order my food and pay at the register. All the server did was put the food on my table and clean it up afterwards. The whole process downgraded the whole modern vibe to more of a cafeteria style establishment. I felt jipped tipping bc i basically served myself. So minus another star. Overall. The food was great. Slightly overpriced. But the atmosphere reflects the price in the heart of downtown. Service was okay but the whole happy hour misrepresentation was a huge turnoff. I won't ever be buying drinks here in the future. Bc hey...they don't follow the advertised prices on the menu. It's decent. I would revisit if I am in the area. But it definetly won't be a go to place that I would drive to if I was hungry.

Inside there was just one table occupied but there is a decent amount of seating for the lunch time crowd. It seemed cleaned. The combos they offer are a rice or noodle (pad thai that didn't look very appetizing) and then up to 3 or 4 items. The food was under heat lamps so I could see what the options were. I decided to get the fried rice and a few items. I choose a chicken first and looked at the other items before deciding on the vegetables with cashews. The woman serving me had the rectangle take out container about 2/3 full and she kept suggesting food such as the green beans and then the sweet and sour pork. Both didn't look very appetizing. I think she was hoping I would pay for as much food to get rid of since the lunch time crowd had passed but she wasn't generous with the quantity. I decided on the beef skewer and then was done. At half price I paid $7.35. I brought the food home and heated it up. I liked the beef skewer but the rest of the food wasn't very good. The food tasted greasy and I had to use my fingers to eat the chicken was it had lots of bones. I'm not sure if it's from this food, but I didn't feel well after. Definitely would not pay $14 for the food I had as lots of other great restaurants around. It would probably be better to go during the lunch hour when the food is hot and fresh but I'll pass next time I'm in the area.
