When I arrived I was greeted quickly and given a menu that is quite extensive. Once I ordered my PHO, I had P8, I barely had time to get a sip of water and my rather large regular serving was there. I was very pleased with the portions of meat and the quantities of condiments. For me the restaurant was very pleasant although it was a bit darker than expected. If you are looking for a sit down "eat in" experience then this might not be the best place for you as this is more of a take out type place with tables (but they will serve you at your table). I should have known better when I ordered in vietnamese and she looked at me like I was crazy. Aren't you a Vietnamese/Thai place? Another sign of a terrible restaurant is when they advertise for their smoothies more than their food. The plum sauce and Sriracha sauce were watered down that means they are skimping on all fronts. I ordered a large combination Pho and I think combination here means three meats max. Kinda weird. Visited here recently and really liked it! One of my favorite things about this restaurant was the decorations and atmosphere. You can tell that they spent a lot of time to make the interior look nice. The summer rolls and pho were delicious. The meat was a little more fatty compared to what I'm used to when I order similarly at other pho restaurants, but I enjoyed my bowl. The regular size was very generous and also had a lot more meat serving-size-wise as compared to other pho establishments in the area (nice!). The restaurant was not crowded when we went but the service here was not that good. Our waters remained empty on the table for some time and we had to repeatedly flag down our server for simple things. I noticed they had a lot of take-out orders though, so I would definitely guess that is most people's preference when eating here. read more

I visited Pho Char for the first time recently for lunch on a warm Saturday afternoon. Pho Char has been open for a couple of months now - according to my server. It was in the mid-70's outside when I walked in - and it was absolutely sweltering inside the restaurant when I walked in. It must have been in the upper 80's inside. I mentioned this to the server, I think they somehow did not anticipate how warm it would get inside - with the kitchen contributing heat into the dining area, on a warm day outside - and with the AC not turned on. I ordered the fresh garden rolls, and a large Pho Ga. I asked that the rolls come out first. They were rather average. Next came the Pho Ga. I first tasted the chicken broth before adding anything. The broth had a nice tasty, richness to it. The plate of aromatics was fresh. I added the bean sprouts, jalapeños, basil, and lime wedge to the bowl. And went to town. Pretty good bowl of Pho Ga. And of course, the ridiculous high temperature inside the restaurant detracted from my enjoyment of the Pho - but it was still good Pho Ga. As I was paying my bill - the server was very apologetic about the temperature inside - and promised it would be cooler inside next time I visited. I will definitely try this place out again - but it had better not be a sauna in here again - if so, I'll re-visit some of the other quality Pho joints in the area. #PhoChar read more

The place is kinda dark but the food is good. Large pho is huge. The soup is nice hot and not too salty, perfect for hot weather. This place also has an extensive menu of smoothie and blended drinks made from fresh fruits. The summer rolls were nice and fresh. The menu is limited to pho, fried rice and rice with grilled meat. Plates Ordered: My regular orders are either a medium beef brisket pho or a combination of fried rice. For the beef and brisket pho, the broth is amazing and can only be described as warm and a bit salty most likely has a base of bone broth. The texture of the meat is perfect, it's thinly sliced and juicy. Comes with broth, cilantro, pho noodles, thai basil stem, jalapeno slices, bean sprouts, thinly sliced onions, lime, and two different sauces. Hoisin and Sriracha. My second order( which unfortunately I don't have a picture of) the combination fried rice, which comes with beef cubes, chicken, egg, basil, other veggies, and a few large shrimp, perfectly cooked. The flavor, is immaculate, the rice has a slight crisp to it that makes it satisfying to eat and the meat is always flavorful. Sometimes I get the combination without shrimp and with extra beef. Hint: Add a bit of hoisin sauce:) Service: 5/5 Okay alot of people on here will complain that they arent smiling in your face and bouncing up and down to greet you art the door, but you have to understand that's VERY american. In majority of countries they don't do that. I prefer when staff show genuine emotions towards customers, it shows they are human too and not just happy robots. The family that runs it is very kind and appreciates every customer. And as customers, we come for the food, and to enjoy a meal in the atmosphere and relax. This establishment provides just that. They don't hound you to finish a meal within an hour so they can sit another table, they let you enjoy your meal, the conversation. And when the staff smile and laugh, you'll know it was genuine. Service was unimpressive. I got the summer roll, shrimp pho and Thai iced tea. The Thai iced tea sucks, any of hmarts canned Thai tea are better. The summer roll itself was good but the peanut sauce needed more to it. It literally tasted like pure peanut butter with soy sauce. The nats must love it though because there was one circling my sauce. When I brought the server's attention to it he volunteered to bring a new sauce and commented how they get rid of The nats but The nats keep coming back. The shrimp pho was good. Only reason for 1 star is because the decoration is nice. Other than that, the pho is mediocre, and the SERVICE is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. If you would like to get disrespected as a customer for some cheap food, go ahead and come on in and try this place. The lady that calls herself a server will watch you stand at the door for a few minutes waiting to get seated and then proceed to seat you while also giving you extreme attitude almost like you're bothering her. She then proceeds to THROW the menus AT YOU after you've been seated at the table like she does not care whatsoever. Then, once the food takes a good 30 minutes to get to your table, if you need anything at all, be prepared to get it yourself because none of the servers will get you anything. Literally asked her to please get some extra limes after pho came, she proceeded to look me in my eyes, then look at the table (indicating she understands what I need), and then turned around and kept going on about her business like a customer did not just ask her for something. Absolutely terrible service. Won't be providing my business here anymore since it ain't anything special, after all it's one of 5000 pho places in the Northern Virginia Area and I am all about good customer service, don't really care for the cheap price. I really wanted to like this place. My husband and I stopped by for Pho. The restaurant is nice and clean. We ordered Pho and the Grilled Chicken; both dishes came out hot and delicious. Pho broth had great flavor and the grilled chicken was tender. Why the low rating you ask? It's the service that killed it. We should have known better when the menus were thrown on the table when we sat. The server was not friendly at all and almost borderline rude. Every interaction made us feel like we were bothering her. Last straw was when the bill came, she waited for us to provide our card. I live 15/20 min from this place so I've ordered takeout 3 times all 3 times I've requested No Onions & No meetballs but they get my order wrong.
