This was previously Pho House & Grill, now it's Pho Carlsbad. Grand opened on 8/14. They are running 15% off until 8/24.
Very extensive menu offering pho, broken rice, bánh mì, salad, vermicelli, stir fried, vegetarian and many more.
We order the same dishes whenever we dine at a Viet restaurant for the first time.
#11 chicken wings ($10.95) - Advertise as spicy salt and pepper but it wasn't spicy. They were 10 small tasty small wings.
#17 pho Carlsbad special ($17.45) - this has everything- rare steak, flank, brisket, tendon, tripe, meat balls. It was so much meat and so tender! The broth was sweet and didn't taste any msg. But the noodles were a bit over cooked.
#65 shaken filet mignon ($17.95) - beef cube with veggies and white rice. The filet was flavorful, soft but too chewy. I do like the slightly picked onions to balance out all the flavors.
We also ordered a side of beef ribs ($8). It comes with one rib but because it took so long, they gave us two. It didn't fall off the bones.
Overall, if we lived closer, I could see us coming for the pho.
This place has potential, our only complaint would be the order that it came out. Main dishes came out first, apps then side of beef ribs.
There are 4 outdoor tables in the back and plenty of parking in the Staples plaza.
