I recently discovered Tasty Phô, which is a small, locally-owned, family-owned shop outside of downtown. They are located just off of Santa Fe Ave. in a small shopping strip. The interior is very simple, with very little decor. It is also very small and only allows for about 25 customers seating. Although there is booth seating for groups of four, this place is best for solo or date-dining. The service here is fast, friendly and very welcoming. This is because it is owned by a husband, wife and son; so there is a very personal touch when it comes to customer service. I've come here twice and so far I really love the no. 46 pork vermicelli noodles, their egg rolls, spring rolls, and their combination phô soup. It is important to note that there is pork in their eggrolls and I love how crispy they are. All of the meats in my meals were delicious! Their menu is priced very affordably with the majority of the items costing under $15. They appear to be very popular for delivery service services, such as DoorDash and Uber eats. There were also many people who did pick-up. Although I could wish for more ambience inside with some music, I can appreciate that there's ample parking in their shared lot and they have a clean bathroom. So much for trusting reviews and stars. It is a small hole in the wall restaurant and very outdated. I also should have known when there weren't any other Asians eating there...IYKYK. My hubby and I ordered the well done pho and half order of egg rolls. Broth was piping hot but bland, meat seemed too chewy, and the only ingredient that gave it life were the green onions. Egg rolls were good. Restroom was somewhat clean and because it's next to the kitchen I can see the other staff just sitting and texting. Makes me wonder if the broth was even fresh. So it's 7:15 pm and they close at 8pm....45 minutes still left until closing time. Yet, I can't dine inside cause they say "it's not to go orders after 7pm" ‍ it's my fault as this is now the 3rd time they have told me this. I come here often....but I won't come here any longer. I have this little restaurant some nice praise and have previously left some good reviews with photos of their food as well as their restaurant. Me and my husband stopped by here because I was feeling under the weather & wanted some good soup to feel better. We came here because of the reviews. It's pretty much a hole-in-the-wall mom & pop pho place owned by a family. It's small and a little outdated inside. Service was good, they gave us waters right away and asked for our orders pretty quickly. I got the pho with rare steak, well done steak & added meatballs while my husband got the rare steak & well done brisket. I always try my soup first before seasoning it and sad to say it did not pass my authentic broth test. It was not as flavored and I barely tasted anything. I had to add loads of sriracha and hoisin sauce to be able to create flavor in the soup, which is not what you do. My husband agreed that the soup was not as flavorful unfortunately. We also got the BBQ Beef Banh-Mi which was pretty good in his opinion but he wished that there was more meat. read more

This place has gone downhill. Too bad. They were always my go to. I ordered the steak pho. The mint leaves had black spots so I threw them away. The sprouts were slimming and smelled bad, threw those out as well. Who needs food poisoning, right? I added my own condiments to salvage the soup. The rib pho here is PHO-TASTIC! I loved the broth and the portion. I can't wait to come back and get more pho for the soup season. Loved the hotstone pho concept-- we don't have that in san diego so its good. The spring rolls were good as well. I also love their new menu with the drinks-- especially the coco matcha and egg coffee. The garlic noodles with beef was okay, could've been seasoned more (with salt more or more garlic) along with the banh mi chao steak couldve been marinated better so it can be more tender to cut into. I came in literally about 10 minutes before closing, and instead of making me feel rushed or unwelcome, the staff was so kind and helpful. They still took my order with a smile and put so much care into everything. The pho was absolutely delicious -- fresh, comforting, and exactly what I needed. On top of that, they even made me egg rolls, which were crispy, hot, and so good. Everything tasted fresh and made with love. The ambience is cozy and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. What really stood out was the customer service. I'm a big fan of Pho/Vietnamese in general and love trying new spots. I saw this place while driving around in Vista. I looked it up & saw it is very high rated so I decided to go for it! The place didn't disappoint but it also didn't knock my socks off. I tried the rare steak pho & the pork spring rolls- the rolls were really good & the pho somewhat average. Both items came out within 3 minutes, so 5 star on speed!! The ambiance is not there, it's pretty much a hole in the wall. The price is about 11.99 per bowl of Pho which again is average I'd say. Ultimately, I always like to see new Pho places because I love them. With that said I'll be trying new places to continue to add places I love because this one is good but I'm not in love with it. This is THE best pho spot in Vista by far. We frequent this location when we want delicious Vietnamese take-out. They have a small dining area and offer great service, but take-out is convenient for large parties. The appetizers are great. My favorites are the Vietnamese Egg Rolls and any variation of the BBO or BBQ spring rolls. The shrimp is always so fresh! The Binh Mi sandwiches are good for a small meal and/or with appetizers. As for the, pho, there are too many choices to list, but they do allow you to make replacements/modifications and add extra. Extra meat or vegetable, for example. Finally, the vermicelli and rice plates are just as good, if you aren't interested in hot pho. The plates are generous and filling. We went to lunch on Saturday at Tasty Pho and I'm so glad we did! The restaurant is immaculately clean, and the people serving us were super nice, as well. We were the only guests, which makes me nervous for them, because it was definitely lunch time, but they said it's usually busier on weekdays. However, you all should definitely try it on the weekends too! The food was fresh, very tasty, decent sized portions, and obviously made with love and care. I had Pho Taí and my friend had bbq pork bún. The owner was sitting down to his own lunch and he generously shared some of his Bahn Mí sandwich and that was so good I ordered one to go to eat later. My only sort of negative critique is that they serve the dishes in to go containers, with plastic utensils (a side effect of pandemic times, I think) and it was hard to eat Pho with a plastic fork. We will be returning again and again, and I hope you will all give them a try, too! read more

I feel very unfortunate to have to downgrade my rating for this place but... prices went up ($1 for Phos). They are now almost aligned with the Pho places around Vista/San Marcos...the issue is: the menu, the dishes, quantity, quality etc... didn't change. In my original review I mentioned that according to the prices ($6.49/beef pho) it was a steal for a quick bite but now that it's almost comparable to other Pho places, I don't necessarily feel it's "worth it " anymore. I'll keep on going there see if their portion/quality improves along with the price increase and will update my review then. read more
