Super Americanized pho/noodle shop. Came here to enjoy dinner since my guy frequently visits Pho Cali whenever his is in town for work tingz. Here, you will find the typical traditional viet food such as: egg rolls, spring rolls, rice plates, vermicelli bowls, banh mi, stir fry noodles, bob& even a few dishes you wouldn't find at a pho restaurant [goi ga & hotpot]. Two younger gentleman managing the front and with the restaurant being fairly slow, things just didn't run smoothly. Firstly, Pho Cali is supposedly known for their BBH... but the dish isn't listed on the menu??? I ask if they offer fresh noodles [obviously for an additional cost] and the employee seemed to have issues comprehending my question/the item?? He eventually tells me that they do. Buys: *Organic Jasmine Green Tea [50% sweetness] *Shrimp & Grilled Pork Spring Rolls *Bun Bo Hue [BECAUSE THIS IS ONE OF THEIR SPECIALTIES] *Seafood Combination Noodle Soup w/ Fresh Rice Stick Noodles [additional $1] Food: There seemed to be issues everywhere! Shrimp & Grilled Pork Spring Rolls were mediocre. Even with the marinated grilled pork being listed as a "Best Item", it totally fell short with flavorings- meat was bland and the only taste you got from the dish is the peanut sauce the spring rolls come with. Bun Bo Hue was actually one of the better dishes that was ordered. Not sure why it isn't on the menu but it needs to be. Soup was a little bland and could have used some shrimp paste but still very doable. Noodles were cooked well and the ingredients were plentiful. Seafood Combination Noodle Soup with fresh rice noodles was a mess. First off, the noodles were indeed rice noodles but very thick in width and was the shape of squares and rectangles. These noodles are clearly meant for chow fun, dry dishes. Soaked in soup, they simply fell apart. The bowl was full of carrot, celery, and cabbage?? I totally didn't expect that and if I knew in advance, I wouldn't have purchased. This dish could only be classified as a very Americanized version of Vietnamese hu tieu [too similar to a chicken noodles soup with those specific veggies]. My seafood soup didn't contain the squid pieces but the chef caught that mistake and had a separate bowl delivered to the table. The green tea with 50% sweetener arrived sweet af! If that's 50% sweetened, I'd hate to imagine what the full blown drink at full sweetener capacity is. YIKES!! 2 stars at best. The guys running the show were nice but they were lacking in so many ways. Not only was the meal not really good to begin with but the employees forgot our herbs/veggie plates needed to complete our noodle dishes. My guy had to flag someone down and request for more than one item. I, unfortunately, wouldn't voluntarily come back. Kudos on the huge portions but this place isn't for me. read more

Unfortunately today's visit was very disappointing. Noodles for both pho were falling apart into small pieces (2 inches or less) or clumped together forming hard chunks. The rib and tendon were not cooked long enough for it to easily fall apart and soften. read more

Both were good size, but not as large as Duc Huong. Atmosphere - Small local restaurant. Indoor seating. Open 7 days a week from 10:30am to 9:00pm. Smart to NOT put prices on your takeaway menus in this current environment as prices for everything continues to go up. Plenty of mall parking. Service - Good. We ordered a to-go of the Goi Cuon and grilled pork Banh Mi. Both were really good and affordable. The service was also really quick since I couldn't call in the order. Very interesting seeing that this place has great reviews. In total, we got shrimp spring rolls, the 32 and the 42. Spring rolls were pretty much bland, only saved by the peanut sauce (kinda watery) but I'm noticing this peanut sauce is congruent amongst other Pho places, probably store bought. My partners 42 consisted of some pretty large chunks of what looked like ear cartilage, I'm assuming brisket? My 32 had a really good broth but I was also plagued by this so called knuckle meat and it made me lose my appetite. Now to kick me while I'm down, this was at a high price tag of $53 for my tummy ache. I'd just ask my nephew to sock it to me if I really wanted what I ended up getting here. read more

I can no longer recommend this place. Every time I visit, it gets worse and worse. This used to a regular dining location because it makes the best combination beef/steak pho. It's so packed full of flavor, and they don't skimp on the meat. But everything else is so bad here. The spring rolls are dry and taste like paper. The peanut butter sauce tasted like light chocolate. How does that even happen? The chicken pho was also really bland. My wife pointed out a few places where they lacked cleanliness (hair in soup, dirty glasses of water). They're consistently good at beef pho but bad at everything else. read more

We ordered a grilled pork banh mi, fresh shrimp spring rolls, a Vietnamese iced coffee, and a shrimp and grilled chicken vermicelli bowl with an egg roll. All were delicious! The pork banh mi was warm and the French bread tasted fresh and crunchy. The coffee was a bit strong for us, but it was flavorful and a refreshing pick me up. The spring rolls and peanut sauce were also really fresh. I really liked my vermicelli bowl and I enjoyed the mix of flavors of the veggies, the meat, and fish sauce on a hot summer day. Overall, everything tasted fresh and this place is easily the best Vietnamese spot in the Rocklin-Roseville area. We will be back here again next time that I am in the area. read more

Legit Vietnamese food, a must go to if you love Pho or Banh mi. They even have the crepe!!! I love that this place when im in the Area. I normally order the Rare Steak Pho and Chicken Bahn mi. Not many in the area has authentic taste, because some of the area have American flavor where is bland and boring. Try their Crepe that is bomb! If you never have them, its the close to Vietnam flavor. But again everything in Vietnam taste better and cheap but again in US this is as Authentic you can get Vietnamese food. I honestly had doubts I would find good Vietnamese food in the Roseville/Rocklin area, but I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The beef stew with bread is absolutely amazing! We got a side of egg noodles with this dish and felt very full. We also got the vermicelli dish with grilled pork, it's your typical vermicelli dish. The only issue I had was the size and price of the Vietnamese iced coffee which I have pictured (I haven't drank from it yet). This used to be our favorite local Vietnamese restaurant, but quality has gone down. We kept going because of our loyalty/support local, but after our most recent visit in September, we will not be returning. We each ordered Pho, my wife ordered a Vietnamese coffee with light ice, and I ordered a grilled pork sandwich to go. The pho tasted the same, but much lighter on the meat than before, my wife's ice coffee was an insult, while my sandwich had a skidmark of grilled pork down the center. I wish I took a picture of that pitiful sandwich, but I was too disappointed to even think about it. The photo of the ice coffee says it all, and this cost us $6.50! It wasn't one of them slow drips into condensed milk, either... It was the premade kind with heat-sealed lid! Need to find a new spot. :( read more

Best pho I've had so far. Coming from the Bay Area, there are a lot of good pho spots but this was a great surprise in Rocklin. EVERYTHING had good flavor. You could easily eat the noodle soup by itself and be satisfied but adding in a little hoisin and chili sauce perfection. So glad I chose the wonton bbq pork. The veggies were fresh, the bbq pork was prepared well and the wontons (which were a little sweet) were a good balance to the spice I added). The egg rolls were hot and fresh and, once again, tasted great. Portions are really good for the price. I was able to have a full meal and still take home a full take out container. Read several raving reviews about this place so I decided to give it a shot. I didn't get to dine in, but I did however order their food through doordash. I got the pork rice plate x2, a side of their fresh spring rolls with pork, and a banh mi sandwich. I was in complete disbelief at what appeared in my order once it was delivered to me. I opened my rice plate to find there was literally no protein in the box. It came with about 5 slivers of this thin sliced meat, which did NOT look like any of the pictures on their page. It was almost as if they cooked enough protein for one box but decided to split it in half between my orders. Which is not right at all, especially if I'm paying an up charged amount by ordering through a third party app. Then to top it off, I opened my box of spring rolls only to find there were only 2 pieces, when the menu clearly states you get 4! I couldn't shake my head any harder than I was already doing so. And to make matters worse, the pork that was inside the spring roll looked like the meat they attempted to pass off inside the rice plate. There were 2 pieces of this thin sliced meat inside the spring roll. Definitely not enough to taste any kind of flavor. I was so disappointed in my meal that I didn't even get to the banh mi. I believe in second chances but at this point, I'm not really sure the next time I would order here. My disgust for the food quality is such a turn off from this place.
