Pho Tai Bo Vien (beef and beef meatballs)
    Stacie N.

I came here with our friends for a group of u (4 adults and 3 kids between 10-12yo). The restaurant has about 6 booths and 10 tables for parties of 2 & 4. These tables can combine to accommodate large groups such as ours. We were greeted immediately and menus were brought out to our table.. We ordered the following: 1. Pho Xuong (Spare ribs pho): Came with 2 big ribs. Had to ask for a plate and knife on side. Was a little hard to cut but the meat is soft according to my 12yo son. He says to dip the meat into the broth before eating it. 2. Pho Dac Biet (Special Pho): Hubby says it's not shabby and the portion was decent. For the bowl size, there was not alot of meat. 3. Pho Tai Bo Vien (Beef and beef meatball Pho) 4. Com Suong Bo Dai Han (Broken rice w/ Koream ribs): Decent portion but missing pork rinds and a chili. The marination for the ribs is good. The meat is tender but most of it had fat. 5. Bun thi nuong cha gio (vermicelli noodles w/ pork and eggroll): You can choose from pork, beef or chicken..i chose pork as that's the traditional way I eat it. It'a a good size bowl, a little large for me, but overall not bad with the flavors. Lots of veggies (romaine lettuce and bean sprouts. No mint or perilla leaves). The vermicelli noodles were a little firm compare to how I cook my noodles but it is edible. It's not undercooked. Could be the noodle brand. I was full halfway through. 6. Banh Mi Chao (sizzling beef plate similar to Bo Ne) The pho bowls were in stainless steel bowls and they BIG. The broth is decent though slightly light in flavor compared to Pho in San Jose. I can't comment on the other dishes as my friends ate it. The veggie dish for the Pho came in 2 separate dishes with quick blanched bean sprouts and the other dish with some 3 basil stems (1 per Pho bowl), 6 small pieces of lime, and some jalapeno slices). The service was good as requests were met promptly by the staff.

Wow! The food here was mad flavorful. The broth is so great even BEFORE adding any hoisin sauce or chili oil. I always appreciate a clean broth that isn't too much that it overpowers the dish. So 10/10 for me on that. I absolutely loved my wonton soup, there was a ton of rice noodle that I wasn't able to finish unfortunately. The pork egg rolls had the BEST crunch it was so satisfying to eat. We wish we would have ordered more. Honestly the service sizes of these bowls I wish there was a smaller option because we both could not finish our meals. My boyfriend enjoyed his meatballs, he's fairly picky on that but he definitely made sure to scarf those down. The reason I'm docking a star is because the service was a tad slow and had forgotten our drinks until we were down and getting the check. We were fortunately given water before had and if it wasn't for our server giving us recommendations for dishes I don't feel our experience would have been the same. He did try his best given a rush came in moments after we seated.

Very delicious and tasty! I love their quick service too. I got their pan bread and egg rolls. Love that it was fresh and hot, as should be. Love the mom and pop ambiance

We were looking for something to eat and pho sounded perfect on the gloomy day. Inside was packed but there were a couple tables still open. We were seated quickly and ordered right away. Menu was standard with pho, noodle bowl, rice plates, banh mi, and drinks. We got the rare steak and meatball pho, grilled pork rice place, and shrimp and pork rice plate. Food came out fast. The everything tasted delicious. We love the flavor of the grilled pork and pho broth. The rice plates came with a light broth soup. The portions were big and we had plenty of leftovers. Staff are nice and helpful even if busy. We aren't on this side of Rocklin much but if we were, we'd definitely visit often.

    House special pho !

I've been going to this pho place before they even switched management, and going here even now , they have amazing pho soup. Large portions, very flavored , best one out of all I have tried. This is my go to spot. Also they have good service ! Their prices are great I think.

To Pho or not to Pho that is the question Yelpies Upon arriving we thought it might be to close to closing time but once seated and ordered we received our amazing hot food within 5 min... no really 5 min. The wife loved the pho and the pan plate was really good. I wish the meat was more tender but besides that all was great. So yes Pho is the answer... get in here you won't Pho get it

The food is really good here. The service is okay and the ambiance is nice. We love their food here especially their Pho it is very tasty and their appetizers are really good. This is always our go to place whenever we crave for Pho best right now especially cold weather.

Interior. Lots of tables available for dine in.

Really wanted to like this place but it looks like I'll be sticking to our usual pho places in the future. Happened to stop by Recreate (arts and crafts thrift store) next door. It was around lunch time so I decided to place an order with Pho Saigon before entering Recreate. The employee was friendly and the environment inside was pleasant--lots of tables for indoor dining. I had looked on Yelp to see the menu, so it was easy to place my order. I ordered a #41 (pork chop plate with noodles option) and a #6 (charbroiled ground pork spring roll). These dishes were very close to what I order at our favorite Vietnamese spot. Seemed a bit pricey at $29 but maybe it's Rocklin or maybe it's post-Covid pricing. After browsing Recreate for around 15-20 minutes, I returned to Pho Saigon where my order was waiting for me. Took it home and unwrapped the spring rolls. It looked very similar to other restaurants so I was curious if it would taste as good. Immediately noticed that the spring rolls were of different sizes (usually the ones we get are very uniform) and not wrapped as neatly as we were used to. Taste-wise, it was very disappointing. Just kinda meh. The fried pieces of egg roll skin (?) inside was stale and hard to chew. But I figured, maybe they're just not good with appetizers. Tried the #41. Portion size seemed decent. There was a large salad/veggie portion with bean sprouts, lettuce, radish and carrots, Vermicelli noodles (I opted for these instead of rice). steamed egg meatloaf, fried shrimp cake and an unknown substance that I found out later was "shredded pork skin." Everything was just....ok. The steamed egg meatloaf had a different consistency than I was used to. The fried shrimp cake was either overcooked, burnt, fried too many times, or old. Can't figure it out. It was so hard to chew. The shredded pork skin had a very strong smell/taste to it. At first I thought it was some kind of fish skin. I just couldn't eat it because the taste and texture was too foreign to me. Maybe some people like that strong smell/taste but I just couldn't eat it without feeling squeamish. It was good to check out another Vietnamese restaurant in the area. There are quite a few in the area. But it looks like we'll be sticking to our normal favorites (Pho Cali and KT Noodle). PROS: * Large portion sizes * Convenient shopping center with lots of parking * 5% discount when paying with cash * Yelp check-in offer * Vast menu CONS: * Prices seem high * Food is just ok in taste

Came here on a whim since our planned dinner spot was too busy and wait was too long. Decided to find a nice sit down dinner without waiting time close to Blue Oaks, Roseville. Right over the bridge in Rocklin, we ended up at Pho Saigon. They accommodated our party of 10 rather quickly (called to reserve and drove right over). This is a comfortable local hole in the wall Pho spot with delicious and LARGE bowls for pho meals. Food was perfect for a cold night, place was clean, parking was generous, staff was friendly, and service was prompt. What more can you ask for? Tables and seating are limited, so you may want to call ahead for wait time inquiries and possible reservations for larger parties. We plan to try other pho spots but this restaurant surely sets a high standard for all others nearby!

This is a nice clean place. Price is reasonable. Love No.50. It tastes good. I recommend it. Only thing is the beef soup needs improvement.

They did have a fairly good number of customers during that time, perhaps for that very reason. It's a basic storefront restaurant in a strip shopping center. Nothing too unique or special, and it is clean. Parking is readily available so that shouldn't be an issue. Service is good. Again, nothing that one wouldn't expect for this type of place. I had a hunger for a sandwich, a Vietnamese one! Banh Mi. They had five basic types and I got the grilled pork. I tend to like a tofu, but that wasn't an option. We started with won tons for an appetizer. They were deep fried to a crisp. The sandwich was just OK, like everything else here. nothing special. I thought bread was a bit stale, not like I've had elsewhere. The sandwich also didn't pack mucn flavor. Overall it satisfied the hunger yet I doubt this is the high point of the menu. If I go again I'll try a Pho or a Rice Dish. I suspect they're better.

So there I was... sitting on an oil rig in Alaska, talking to a sheriff's deputy with over 20 years…read moreon the job. He says, "My buddies keep telling me about this place called Pho King Good." Funny part? Even he had never been there. Well, that little story stuck with me. Fast forward a few weeks. My road trip partner, Koda, and I are heading home from Disneyland, cutting through Sacramento toward Grass Valley. We roll into Auburn and BOOM there it is. Pho King Good. Now let's just take a second to appreciate that name. If you're gonna swing for the fences with a name like Pho King Good, you've set the bar about as high as Mount Everest. You don't get to be "pretty decent." You'd better make me question every bowl of pho I've ever eaten. The sign? Absolutely iconic. It practically jumps out and hollers at you from the side of the road. Easy in, easy out. Road-tripper approved. Walking inside, though, I was expecting a little more "Pho King Palace" and a little less "we've been meaning to remodel since the Clinton administration." The marble counter looked nice enough, but the place just felt like it needed a little love. If I owned a restaurant with a name that good, I'd lean into it. Give me lanterns. Give me atmosphere. Make me feel like the King just walked in. Charge me another couple bucks if you have to I wouldn't mind if the experience matched the name. Then came the menu. It felt a little like Dysfunction Junction. They had everything listed, but it wasn't organized in a way that made ordering easy. Give me sections. House Pho. Beef Pho. Chicken Pho. Special Pho. Help a hungry traveler out. The food? Solid... right down the middle of the road. After hours in the car, a hot bowl of pho hits the spot no matter what. Koda really enjoyed his chicken dish, and our vegetable egg rolls with the peanut sauce were decent, although the wrapper was just a touch on the rubbery side. The owner was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable, which always counts for something. My only real disappointment was this: with a name like Pho King Good, I expected to leave saying, "That's the best pho I've ever had." Instead, I left saying, "That was... good." And then came the plot twist. Time to pay. Cash only. So now I'm walking out to the ATM like I'm making a withdrawal for a back-alley poker game or a dispensary run. I'm standing there thinking, "Well... this tip just took a hit because I wasn't planning on paying an ATM fee for my noodles." I still don't quite understand it. You're giving change, printing receipts, running a business... we're already 95% of the way to taking cards! Overall, this wasn't about whether the food was amazing or terrible. It was about the experience. Sometimes that's the story worth telling. Would I stop again on another road trip? Probably. Because sometimes a bowl of pho, your best buddy Koda riding shotgun, and a restaurant with the greatest pun in California are all you really need. And if they ever decide to polish the place up and make it live up to that legendary name... It might just become Pho King Great.

VEGAN SIGHTING!!! I…read moredon't even know where to start my fellow vegans. This quirky, Vietnamese restaurant in the city of Auburn, CA, has by far the best vegan Banh Mi sandwich. The tofu was prepared so it did not take up the whole sandwich. The pickled radish and carrots had the perfect and balanced of sour and sweet. Of course, can't leave out the herbs of cilantro and fresh jalapinjoes. The french bread was crispy outside but still soft and hearty as you take a bite. My earth was it a 2 thumbs up!!! Then their vegan pho with veggies and tofu did not disappoint. Their veggie broth was perfectly blended and made wonderfully that I was not even thinking this was vegan. The staff was kind and informative. They were attentive and friendly. Then comes the merch. If you like a play on the word Pho, then come and check out their shirts for sale. All I have to say is "Life is Pho king good." With this said, another gem in Auburn, CA.
