This area was in desperate need of a Vietnamese spot and Pho 60 is here to fill that void. Unlike the rest of the Vietnamese spots in this side of Brooklyn, Pho 60 has a very sleek interior and the right choices of decor for the proper essence of a Vietnamese restaurant. Before trying anything else in the menu of a Viet restaurant, I had to try the beef pho first and then another classic, bun bo hue. When the bowl arrived, Just by smell and the purity level of the broth I could tell that it was going to be a good. There was a strong smell of beef bone and beef collagen that you don't find in many pho places. After taking a sip, I think I decided right then and there that this is the BEST beef pho I've tried in Brooklyn...maybe even Manhattan. The amount of bone marrow flavor in this broth is just not comparable with any other that I've had here in NYC. Anybody who says otherwise either prefers quantity over quality from the trashy msg broths at 8th Avenue, or just biased towards something overpriced af from Manhattan(Which doesn't even compare tbh). The noodle texture is just the right amount of chew and the meat was tender. Don't come to this place without trying the classic. Now onto the bun bo hue. A good bun bo hue is a good balance of sour, spicy, and umami, All of which Pho 60 nails. The broth has a good combination of the beef, lemongrass, and fish/shrimp sauce. I like how the fish and shrimp sauce isn't so overwhelming like many other places, just the right amount. The pork blood cubes are silky and not too metallic tasting. The pork knuckles are tender and the meat falls off the bone so that's another plus. Overall the service, food, and ambience surpassed my expectations so this place is well deserving of the 5 stars. Solid pho place especially for the area. The restaurant itself is pretty nice, and although the pho is a dollar or two more expensive, the quality and atmosphere definitely shows where your money is going. Tried the regular pho and the beef stew pho, both were good. Came here for lunch and have got to say thank the lord for a pho place in this area. Going to 8th Avenue is such a pain, and this place is close by but far away enough from the busy areas to make sure you don't have to fight for seats. Not sure why this place has such high remarks compared to all other vietnamese restaurants in brooklyn. While my first time at this restaurant was ok and not memorable and possibly later in the evening and when I was starving but while looking for a viet place to eat this came up on yelp again so I figure I give it another try. But this is my 2nd time here and we seem to have ordered the same items and it was only ok. For appetizers, we had the pork spring roll and they are more like egg rolls from a chinese takeout that the usual plump fillings with rice paper rolled and deep fried with side of romaine and fish sauce. Would not recommend. As for entrees, we had the Pho 60 Special Noodle Soup and the Grilled Beef Roll Rice Vermicelli. The noodle soup was a bit watered down and lacked the beefy flavor and the meat toppings weren't much for such a big bowl. We were looking for the comfy taste of the broth and the meat toppings of the usual pho but this place fail to deliver. As for the dry rice vermicelli bowl, it was pretty average and was the better of the 2 entrees. The only beverage we had was the vietnamese ice coffee and I regret ordering this, from the looks they may have been premade in large batches so it lacks the freshness of the drip coffee and leaves a bitter after taste. My husband and I LOVE this place. We asked if they had any vegan food, and they told us all of the vegan options on the menu. It used to be that I had to go back to visit my bf's family in the West Coast in order to get really, really good Bun Bo Hue or my favorite, Bun Rieu, or better yet is his mom's (nothing is better than her) homemade versions. Not anymore. This is the second time I have had food from here and I am not disappointed. The first time I dined in and ordered Bun Bo Hue and I was not disappointed. Today, after a week of being sick and finally able to eat food again, I was craving Bun Rieu, which is extremely hard to find in NY and man oh man oh man!! Food - It was okay at best. The pho and "Hainanese" chicken noodle soup broths were bland and had a bitter aftertaste. Portions were big but overloaded with noodles that weren't properly separated. The tripe with the pho was rubbery. It's laughable that they serve Hainanese chicken in a Viet restaurant. Why? Because there's a Viet dish that taste similar and utilizes the same ingredients - pho ga di bo - which they didn't not offer. Their ca phe sua da was pretty decent though. Service - It's beyond disappointing as a Vietnamese person to go to a Vietnamese restaurant and try to order in my language only to have servers roll their eyes and act like I'm stupid. They could have just said they didn't know but they decided to be rude. Look - if you're going to profit off of Viet culture it's not too much to expect that your servers know the menu in Vietnamese. I expect the same if I go to a French restaurant, Chinese restaurant, Mexican restaurant, etc. that servers would would be able to understand customers when they order in that language. read more

Only the length and thickness of an index finger! However, the plate came with plentiful of pickled carrots and lettuce leaves for wrapping. I enjoyed the hainese chicken noodle soup, an alternative to the red-meat. The broth was very clear and not muddled with beef oils you expect. Nope. Not like the standard Vietnamese food place and definitely not worth the price. I had a pork chop rice with crabby patty(cake?) and it was a little disappointing. Pork chop looked presentable from up top BUT the pork chop was thin as bacon! (Picture to show how thin it is compared to a fork). The "crab cake" also did not seem fresh because the top layer fell right when I tried to cut into the patty/cake. My boyfriend had the dried vermicelli bowls but he didn't have any amount of vegetables that I would expect. I live closeby and have slowly been waiting for this place to open. Seeing how the previous dessert spot failed, I was really rooting for an awesome spot nearby that I could frequent. Boy, was I disappointed. Came here during the first week of opening. Taste-wise: Food was mediocre, can definitely get better pho for its' price on 8ave. Nothing about it was special. I was also not given the right type of utensils to eat with, usually at pho spots they give you the nice big asian soup spoons. I got a western style silver spoon..really? There was dirt in the lettuce that came with my springrolls and the avocado shake they made me was so thick (and they didn't have thick straws) that I couldn't even drink it and ended up having to eat it with a spoon basically. After hearing my friend's rave about the new pho spot in the neighborhood, I couldn't wait to try. First, I order at 1:18 PM. It was not delivered till close to 2:30 PM. We ordered the special pho (beef noodle soup), shrimp paste soup, spring rolls and ice coffee. The portions seems a little smaller than other vietnamese restaurants but the food was good. It had a lot of flavors. The shrimp paste noddle had a strong smell of shrimp paste. It can be fishy for those that don't like seafood but I enjoyed it. The only thing I will not order from this place again is the ice coffee. It doesn't have the same taste as other places. I didn't like it.
