This is a no-frills Vietnamese spot that served the perfect food for a chilly night at a good price point for the amount of food that you get. If dining indoors, they do have transparent dividers separating all of the tables which is nice. They also seem to be ramping up the use of a robot waiter since someone was training the machine while we were there :D We started out with the grilled pork spring rolls (A11) which provided the perfect combination of flavorful pork and light and refreshing vegetables. They also give you four pretty sizable spring rolls which I thought was great value for the price. In terms of main entrees, we split the pho combo 2 which came with rare steak, well done flank, brisket, tendon, and tripe along with the grilled beef vermicelli bowl (#49). Once again, the portion sizes are quite big and we ended up walking away with a good amount of leftovers (which is always a plus)! Otherwise, the pho broth was solid and it was chock-full with different meats, but the noodles were pretty clumpy. Can I give -1 stars? A previous visit I ordered tendon with rare steak to go. It was all tied up nicely. I get home and there is no tendon and the rare steak is actually cooked.... like a roast beef sandwich meat just tossed in. The next visit: I dined in the restaurant. The food was acceptable, but they worked really hard to short change me. I wanted to pay cash and asked for a receipt. Then they pretended like they were having a hard time drawing up a receipt. A pho with tendon and rare steak was supposed to be 14.95 and then $16.31 after tax. I paid $50.31 and then put a dollar in the tip jar. They gave me back $31. I then said it was wrong change and asked for a receipt. They didn't give me a receipt (which would show a paid balance.) instead they gave me a summary of the cost. I showed them that they only gave me 31 and I should get back more change. They then gave me another 2 dollars. That means they gave me back a total of $33. I didn't notice because I assumed they would be able to fix this. So 50.31 16.31 = 34 dollars, not 33, so they still shortchange me a dollar after I brought it to their attention. They lost a customer for life. Summary: They short-changed me twice and didn't provide a bona fide receipt. Clearly they are ripping off the customers and the U.S. state and federal government. I hope they get investigated for tax evasion also. read more

Best Pho Spot in the Bay Area! This has been my go to Pho spot for years. I grew up in the bay area and pho has been one of my favorite comfort foods for over 20 years. Unfortunately the problem I would always have, is every time I found a good spot, I would eventually return and find the quality of soup would be all over the place. Sometimes it is amazing other times it would be watered-down and/or not so fresh ingredients. This place not only has the best tasting Pho I have ever tasted, but over the last 5 years it's consistently tasted the same if not improved. The ingredients they use are super fresh. The steak is always served rare and cooks in the broth. The noodles are perfectly cooked (Pho pro tip, make sure you mix them up as soon as the bowl gets to the table so they continue to cook evenly) The broth is heavenly. Best part is the service is super quick. I usually get my order within 5 minutes after placing it. The dining area is very Covid safe. They have barriers in-between tables. The utensils and sauces are brought out to the table after you order, instead of sitting out. They do an excellent job of keeping everything clean and sanitary. I saw a pic of Phở #1's Hủ Tiếu Khô (dry noodles) and they had outdoor seating so why not? Currently, Phở #1 is open for takeout, delivery, indoor dining, and limited outdoor dining. They no longer have an outdoor "patio" like what's pictured on Yelp; there's just two tables outside that's side-by-side. A group who came after us wanted to sit outside but didn't want to wait; maybe the owner(s) can consider adding an extra table or two outside? C O V I D - 1 9 S A F E T Y P R E C A U T I O N S * Staff wore masks properly. * Laminated menu that's disinfected between guests. * Indoor tables had plastic dividers between them. * Outdoor table was sanitized before we were seated. * Hand sanitizer available. BUT, this is called Phở #1 after all so this is my fault for ordering this. * #50 Com Tấm Dặc Biệt: Broken Rice Combo #1 w/ grilled shrimp, pork chop, shrimp cake, egg cake, fried egg ($16.95): https://bit.ly/3gaybCj Not my order but I did try some of the pork chop and broken rice. Def the highlight of our meal. The marinated pork chop was super flavorful and juicy with a nice smoky char. It was finished with scallion oil which added a delicious richness; great with the broken rice. Broken rice is just rice that's broken into smaller grains but something about it has me craving it more than regular white rice. If I were to visit again, I would def stick with the Com Tấm (I'm not a pho person). S E R V I C E All business. As I mentioned, food service does take a while because they're understaffed so come with patience. What gets me is they provide water glasses that are less than half-full (similar situation with the nuớc chấm). For the sake of efficiency, why not serve full water glasses and more nuớc chấm so customers don't have to flag the lone staff down for more? Overall, if you're craving Viet food in the area and don't want to drive all the waaaaay to E Man Jose, Phở #1 may be a decent option. read more
