Delicious food every time. We like trying all the different food menu items. They are smaller shareable portions , but filling. They have a fantastic bottle wine menu that is quite surprising. It's always busy there so be prepared. Service is always attentive and friendly. Beer and wine only served. No cocktails. The only concern is their air exhaust system is not very strong. Super cute dinner date spot in uptown Whittier. Love supporting local business as we just moved to this area. Keep in mind portions are small and the price is high so don't go when you are starving. The quality of the food is great and the vibe is nice. Dinner for two was about $100 but we had few plates to share 2 beer drinks total and one main plate of the skirt steak. If you didn't know this place existed, you'd miss it entirely. It's tucked away in Uptown Whittier and such an underrated gem. The interior is dark and cozy without feeling dusty or spooky. We decided to sit at the bar and it was well lit and spacious. Between us we had the brussels sprouts, adobo wings, potatoes, and the figs. All were incredible. I would love to go back and try everything else on the menu. The bartender was extremely attentive and made sure we were taken care of the entire time and ensured our glasses were never empty. I usually like this place. However today's experience brings down my rating significantly. We called to put our name on the waitlist. They said it was in person only, so one member of our party walked to the establishment to put our name on the waitlist. We waited 40 minutes at a bar nearby. We eventually received a phone call but missed it. There was another missed call a minute later and we immediately called back but no one picked up. We called back that SAME minute to be told our table was already give away and we would have to wait another 40 minutes. So basically there was zero seconds allotted for a grace period. We arrived in person 4 minutes later to be told that our table was given to people waiting in person. However, when we put our name in the list we were never told that if we were not there the exact second our table was ready, they would give it up. This is really poor service when a table of four waits forty minutes to dine at your establishment and you call at 6:37 and we call back by 6:38 and the table has been given away already. We understand that others are waiting, but when your wait time is over 30 minutes, do not expect us to sit out front twiddling our thumbs. Give a 5 minute cushion before you give our table away. The staff may benefit from more personnel. We placed our orders and the plates came to out table out of order and at times very late. Yesterday evening my mom and I went out to have dinner here. We were seated next to the bar by the host. As we sat down a party of four left next to us. We waited for a server to take our drink order. A new group of four people came in and were seated next to us. A server did give them menus and went back to take their drinks. Yet he did not come to our table. I asked him : excuse me are you our server? He responded : give me a minute! He completely ignored us, never welcomed us and it was obvious he discriminated us. I've been coming to phlight for quite a long time and is one of my favorite restaurants in uptown. I lived in Spain for a little bit a few years ago and this is the place I get my Spanish food fix. The drinks are great, highly recommend the red sangria, and all the food on the menu is so tasty. It's traditional Spanish tapas style so I love coming here with a group of friends to share everything with. Some of my favorites include the bacon wrapped manchego dates, Spanish Mac and cheese, croquetas, and Mexican soufflé for dessert. Went this morning with friend for a special they were having get a coffee next door at Local Fixtures and get a burrito from them. 9am till 11am. Got my order in and maybe 10:54am. Basically the last for the special. They told me it would take 25 minutes. Which I was fine with. About 45 minutes passed and one of my friends went to them and asked where the order was. It was just one burrito. They apologized and said they would make it right away. It took a hour for it by the time I had gotten it. They did offer a soda which I said no thank you. It was quite a bummer because by that time they were not doing to much and there was no customers in line. They were all just talking. But, needless to say to say the burrito itself was quite good. They were out of steak which I wanted to get. So, I had gotten the veggie burrito and it had gator tots in it cooked crispy. Which gave a nice crunch. Very tasty! read more

I've always loved tapas and I thought it was such a great Yelp find that a Phlight was nearby. I was expecting a bit of a wait, especially on a Saturday evening. I was surprised to see about half of the restaurant empty. Nevertheless, we thought we got lucky and started to choose which dishes we wanted. Red Wine Sangria (1/5)- extremely watered down sangria with fruit bits- would not recommend Bacon Wrapped Dates (4/5)- hard not to love a dish with bacon, plate comes was 4 pieces, a bit on the sweet side Pork Belly Soft Taco (3/5)- generous amounts of crispy pork belly, wish it was a bit more flavorful Steamed Mussels (3/5)- mussels came with pieces of chorizo, I wish there was more broth with the dish because the mussels were a bit bland. Albondigas (1/5)- meatballs in an extremely creamy mustard based sauce, the sauce was overwhelming and we didn't finish this dish Paella (3/5)- I thought the flavor could have been stronger. The shrimp and mussels were cooked nicely, but I thought the rice texture was off. Overall, my meal at Phlight was underwhelming and honestly a bit disappointing. read more

For the veggie eaters, there's not much you can choose from other than picking meat out, however the options that they do have that are all vegetarian are extremely flavorful and yummy! Yummy and delightful! Hadn't been here in years, and it's just as good as ever. All the tacos were great: shrimp, pork belly, lengua and ground beef with pickles (!). You'll need to ask for more aioli and sauce for the patatas that were perfectly crisp and also tender--and abundant for sharing. Mac and cheese was a level beyond what you could dream of (did someone say "Spanish chorizo"?). We came in on a Friday night at the peak of seating and the owner, Jay, personally found us a table. Our server, Luke, made an excellent recommendation for the refreshing white sparkling sangria as well as the meatloaf and mashed potatoes, which were melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
