I was surprised to walk inside and see such a small place. Very cute decor. I was seated and waited for 15 minutes. I was disappointed that there was only one hostess. It took her even longer just to bring me a glass of water. I looked up and she was like a Road Runner. Gone. I had to flag her down just to place my order. I'm not going to lie the food is delicious. To think it's normally $15-$17 for it to be so weak Is unreasonable. For food we ordered the jerk tacos with fries. I asked for blue cheese, they didn't have any. So I asked for ketchup and they ran out of ketchup. How do you run out of ketchup it's only 6:30pm? But I digress. Things happen. The fries were good but salty. But you can customize your order to not include all ingredient just let the host know. Now the rolls are AMAZING, the pastry is crispy while the salmon, cheese and all the ooey goodness inside is tasty and soft. Fried green tomatoes are seasoned just right and in your order you get 5 why not 7 for the price of $10 please. About the service, the atmosphere is the bomb it's tight but NEVER over crowded. The chicken itself had the right amount is spice however it doesn't distinguish itself from any other jerk chicken in the city other than it has the consistency of "ground" chicken. There's a decent sauce atop the tacos with a nice sweet versus heat balance but that's where I'd end the compliment. The tacos were in fact small but they were filled to the brim. The restaurant is rather small but there's an ample amount of televisions with various sports events playing on them. There was a classic hip hop soundtrack playing which I enjoyed & parking can be a fas tricky as you'd have to go to either Halsted or Maxwell Street. Let me start by saying that they seriously need to hire people who are friendly and know how to pretend to actually like people. Our server was so blah that it made me mad that they automatically included a tip for her. But I feel like with people like that, that's the only way they will get tips. Also, there's a wait for literally everything. We waited almost 30 minutes for drinks and there wasn't a lot of people there. They put jerk sauce ON TOP of the tortillas, not inside but I guess lol still was good. It's not the cheapest, but it's black owed and worth it. They don't skimp you on the liquor either. Dined here today. A new spot a friend recommended while in Chicago. Had some kerk chicken tips fries and a Hennessey side car to drink. The chicken tips were good but a little on the too spicey side for me. Im not a big fan of a lot of spice. I will return again to enjoy the tips without the spicey jerk sauce. I found this spot through TikTok while I was visiting Chicago and decided to check it out. Upon arrival we were told we had to wait 15 minutes before they started serving dinner (at 5pm) which was fine. We sat outside and was greeted by a very sweet waitress. I had no idea who she was, because she never introduced herself, until the waitress came back out and asked if her MANAGER had came by to talk to us. I was very surprised she was the manager due to how she approach me. She told me what kind of rum was in it, it was something I never heard of and I simply stated I didn't like it. She asked if I wanted something else but I said I'd just stick with water. We continued to eat and once the bill came I notice the drink was still on there even though I didn't like it or drink it. The waitress kindly said she wasn't allowed to take it off but would ask her manager to. As i understand this may not be their policy to do so, I still wanted to ask being that it was a $17 drink, but it should've been a simple yes or no answer. Next thing I know a man is walking over to our table dressed in plain clothes asking "what's going on?" (Again no introduction) this man was at least a little more personable than the "manager" however approach was still very aggressive and seemed to be meant to intimidate. After asking who he was and finding out he was a "partner of the business" I explained the situation, complimented the food and simply said the drink wasn't to my liking. He acknowledged what I said and said he would take care of it. He did, and all was well, however I'm not sure why a customer disliking a cocktail that was made had to escalate to the level of personnel that it did or asked for the attitude that was given. I visited this establishment on 06.12.21, I enjoyed the ambiance of this restaurant and the food was good. The drinks were not that great, the lemonade tasted like flavored water. My friends enjoyed the chicken tips and the salad was the best I've had! But I also had issues with the kitchen, I had to send my nachos back 3 times because I asked for no cilantro and no sour cream and each time it served to me with it on there. PRICE: Drinks are a little high here. Inconsistencies with the liquor content... sometimes none existent other times strong. Food prices are reasonable and they give you a lot of food for dishes that come with chicken. You can typically get two meals out of these. For pasta and lamb chops... not much left over.
