This place was absolutely fantastic! It's a small, but mighty addition to the Southside restaurant scene. It's cute, feels homey, and is well decorated. The staff were attentive. The food was delicious! Apparently, they had just changed their menu and were eager to know what we thought. I didn't have anything to compare it to- but found it really good on its own accord. I'll be a frequent diner!

My sister stopped in to check out this new restaurant and bought me a pastry. I've been dreaming about this danish ever since I got it and can't wait to get another one. It tasted so fresh and the dough was just the right amount of flake. I haven't there myself yet but looking forward to trying out more items on the menu!

DixiePura is the name..and this chef is delivering flavor to the game!! Stop by on a Friday night to check this spot out. Greeted so kindly as soon as we walked in. First thing I noticed was how cute and intimate dixiepura is! Started with some drinks and app. We had the crab cakes, pork belly, and fingers! Everything was delicious but the fingers really were amazing! The mule was a delicious drink I just wish it was in a bigger glass. The chef came out and actually explained the dishes to us! You can tell she takes pride in her craft! I definitely recommend this spot! Perfect for a date night!

Haven't ever had a meal like this! We had the exquisite privilege to dine at DixiePura Kitchen tonight. It was a wonderful blend of Southeast Asian and American Southern flavors. Chef Chloe Gould had us from the first bite! Service was wonderful and the space was such a intimate and chill vibe. Absolutely great date spot!! Here is some of what we had, but I honestly doubt you could go wrong with anything there. 1) Salmon Croquettes which were so delicate and delicious. 2) Southern Curry Braised Curry Greens Eggrolls. Had us hooked with flavor and spices from the first bite. 3)Cajun Seafood Gumbo Laksa. Full of flavor, tender seafood and rice. Southern Curry Potlikker Cornbread. Pot Likker and cornbread....what more could you want? Creole Do Chua (Marinated Cabbage & Vegetables) wonderfully crisp and just the right balance of acid and sweet. 4) Braised Southern Smoked Baby Back Rib, Hainanese Style Rice, Soy Garlic Chili Crisp, Charred Green Onion. Fall of the bone ribs with sauce so good we literally saved the leftovers to take home and eat it with the rice. Can't wait to come back and try the brunch menu!

This review is long overdue. Chloe is such an amazing, kind, spirit. My husband and I stopped in during the holiday season, I was blown away by the food, the fusion ideas are great. I came for the collard green egg roll did not disappoint at all. The fried rice layered flavors were so good, my husband had the short rib, it fell right off the bone and it was in this reduction that was delicious. Chloe the chef/owner is one of those rare genuine people you meet that remind you that good people are in the world spreading their goodness. She gave us a world class experience, can't' wait to see what's next, Dixiepura is gonna be a force on the Chicago restaurant scene.

I purchased a ticket for Chef Chloe's Southern Prosperity Menu, hosted on New Year's Day. Walking into Dixie Pura Kitchen felt like a warm, family greeting. There were people already seated, community-style. I was asked to introduce myself as my coat was taken. There were a few embraces, and then we got to it! This menu was prepared with love and intention. Chef Chloe explained the significance of each course, and the ingredients in those courses. She was also careful to note what was vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, etc. I have a gluten intolerance, and the menu was VERY accommodating. Chef Chloe also prepared wonderfully paired cocktails. Everything was delicious. Each bite had a depth of flavor. It all tasted like love. I had to take off early, and I had a warm send-off from everyone in attendance. It was a wonderful experience. I will return, and hope that you'll experience the magic and love of Dixie Pura Kitchen, also.

I am already a fan of Erick Williams…read morerestaurants, so I was excited to check this one out, especially after learning it focuses on tequila and mezcal, which are my favorites. It is also conveniently located on the same block as two of his other spots. I have been twice now and had a great experience each time. I am especially glad they did away with the reservation deposit. It makes planning a visit much easier. Most recently, I stopped by for their all day Sunday happy hour, which was a great vibe. They have expanded the food menu since my first visit, and everything I tried was solid. The empanada was my favorite, the quesabirria was really good, and the chicken torta was delicious. On my first visit, I only had the guacamole, which I also enjoyed. The decor is beautiful and intimate, creating a great atmosphere, and the music is always on point. The staff has been friendly and welcoming every time I have gone. This place is definitely staying in my regular rotation.

We tried the Jushu which I loved the glass it came in and the drink was great but definitely not mango-y. My friend ordered the tamale and I tried just a bite to see. We think it's not very spicy and wish the tomatillo came through more. For me as a vegetarian, I think this is a great place to get drinks but I wouldn't come here expecting a full dinner. Which, I think is the point with their small menu! Everything came out super fast, everyone was very attentive. It was early on a Saturday so it was very quiet but they had good music playing. Definitely a cute addition to the neighborhood!

The line to get in was a bit long (however covered since it was raining which was nice). The venue is located upstairs so we waited along since a long set of stairs with everyone else. The security here wasn't rude or anything which was a good sign from off the bat, and once we got inside we had a lot of space to roam around towards the back when we wanted drinks or whatever which made it easy to not stress about needing to be at the very front of the dancing floor space. Drinks weren't outrageously expensive which was nice, and we genuinely had a good time here! We saw Chance the Rapper make an appearance in the crowd and he was standing right by us which was super cool! Overall - nice space, and I know they always have events here and apparently food(?). The cauliflower appetizer had tremendous flavor and was also artistically plated. Delish'! Our other app, deviled eggs, were, well, deviled eggs that reminded me of many a church basement. But, it too had an artistic delivery to it. The étouffée was tasty and nicely prepared w grilled (not boiled) shrimp. It's a lovely atmosphere and not overly noisy for how many people it holds. If I were to make any complaint it is that the overhead lights are turned on fully & brightly at 10 pm. Not a gentle increase over a few minutes but an immediate, full-on "get out, go home, leave NOW" feeling. Considering the prices and the otherwise wonderful evening, not cool. What gives Mesler? :-( All in all, a fun experience with tasty food. Don't not go, there is lots to like, but be sure you are done & gone by 9:58. Sincerely, Patrick Shaughnessy Chicago, IL
