I don't miss much about Texas but Phil's, is one of the few things I long for. The slightly sweet bun they make fresh, the delicious burger, the sweet potato fries, I miss it . Best burgers in Austin. My fav location is next to iFly. Amy's is next door. It's the perfect spot. Whenever I visit it's one of my 3 places I have to grab food.

Great place for kid's. We love the playground and the overall vibe. Food is good and comes out fast. Amy's ice cream next door if I ever need a dessert. Service was good. This place is always in my rotation especially when the weather is nice.

I ate Phil's Icehouse a lot as a teen. My mom loved that they're usually right next door to an Amy's Ice Cream. I remembered it being fire and now I live right around the corner from one, so I decided to take a trip down memory lane. The food is not bad, it's a good burger. The sweet bun is yummy. The bacon was perfect. Patty tasted kinda under seasoned, but I'm also a big salt&pepper-lover-gal. Okay fries. For some reason it just didn't hit the way I expected it to, especially because that's a pretty good looking burger IMO lol. I think I might just prefer a good ole salty, greasy cheeseburger - this one's definitely not my favorite in Austin.

Ok I know it's the popular burger but I really enjoy eating the "78704" Burger and I can't wait to order it again. Phils ice house has never failed

What a dump! Sticky floors, no AC, and dated depressing interior. Felt bad for the employees. Went for the outside playhouse in for my toddler. Outside was okay. Too many used cups and straws all over the ground but the playhouse itself was cool and had enough seating. Most of it is gated except one side so felt safe to let the kiddo run around while we eat. The adult chicken tenders rank as one of the worst I have ever had. After a few minutes, the meat dried up and was hard and pretty much inedible. The mixed fried (regular fries and sweet potato fries) were pretty good. The fish sandwich is on par with McDonald's fish fillet sandwich except more expensive. Service was good and helpful. If there's a next time, I'll opt for the burgers as that's their main thing.

    Burgers and Beer, why not.

Glad it did. The menu isn't huge, but honestly that's usually a good sign -- focus on doing a smaller menu really well instead of serving 94 mediocre things and a sad waffle. I ordered the Bad Ass Bacon & Eggs plate. It came with thick-cut bacon, 2 eggs, hash brown casserole, wheat toast, and smoked salsa. Bacon - 9/10 This wasn't your average thin breakfast bacon. Thick-cut, almost pork belly style, with killer flavor and very meaty. Eggs - 9/10 Cooked perfectly and tasted fresh. Simple, but done right. Hash Brown Casserole - 8/10 Different than what I expected, but in a good way. Unique flavor and a great addition to the plate. Salsa - 7/10 Very homemade style salsa with a smoky flavor. Different, but really good. Atmosphere - 9/10 Loved the vibe. Cozy atmosphere, great music, and just an overall comfortable place to sit and enjoy breakfast. If this place was closer to home, I'd eat here often. Service - 10/10 Excellent service. Christy H. was friendly, attentive, and on point the whole time. Overall - 9/10 Definitely a must-try breakfast spot in Austin. They currently have four locations, and after eating here, it's easy to see why.

Vida Verde Kitchen -- A Hidden Gem That's Worth Finding…read more Austin is overflowing with trendy restaurants where the food is decent, the lighting is aggressive, and the wait time requires a light snack and a personality shift. I tend to avoid those places. Vida Verde Kitchen, thankfully, is not that. Tucked into a great area but slightly hidden (the kind of spot you feel proud to "discover"), Vida Verde feels like a restaurant that exists for people who actually want to eat, not just post. The menu is a thoughtful fusion of Tex-Mex, fresh flavors, and Americana--familiar enough to be comforting, but creative enough to keep things interesting. Yes, it's a bit overpriced, but the food earns its confidence. The guacamole is an absolute must, and anything leaning Tex-Mex is consistently solid. I can vouch. The wait staff deserves real credit here--knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely invested in the food and experience, which goes a long way these days. The atmosphere hits that Austin sweet spot: industrial touches softened by lush green foliage. It's stylish without trying too hard, which is rare and appreciated. If I had one note? This place needs a happy hour and a few more solid specials. Do that, and Vida Verde becomes dangerous--in the best way. Overall: a unique, thoughtful restaurant that avoids the hype trap and delivers where it matters. Definitely worth your time (and thankfully, not hours of it).

The food came an hour later and hour and half for the rest of the table, so half of our table was done eating and waiting. They didn't even bring out the kids first, so then kids were starving. The quality of the food is good, but they really need to plan better. Would never bring a large group here. It's fine for a small table.

My husband enjoyed the chicken and waffles and isn't a big eater but it just wasn't a lot of food. It was literally ONE chicken tender divided between ONE waffle. Please see the pic. He said they were heavy on the honey butter and light on the chicken and waffles. This dish didn't come with any sides or other food. 2. Both kids (despite my advice) ordered breakfast. The eggs were ordered over easy and unfortunately they came broken and already runny (pic). The bacon on one was so very very crisp and on the other it was floppy. The hash browns were cooked in so much oil that it felt like you were eating oil - not potatoes. The biscuits were dry. The jalapeño gravy was tasty but we needed a lot more of it to make up for the dry biscuit. 3. Finally, I disliked my food last time which is why we hadn't been back for 4 years but everyone deserves another chanc. Today I ordered off their "specials" menu and got redfish. Redfish is one of my favorite fish so I was excited to try it. When it came I was happy because it was a nice sized portion (see pic). Then I tasted it. It was so fishy and as I picked it apart,I could see it was the blood vein piece. I could not eat it. My teenager is a vacuum and ate it. I then finished our 10 year olds left over eggs breakfast. The green beans under the fish were cooked well. I thought at least I can eat the green beans. Then I took another bite and noticed the SALT. I love my salt. I'm known to salt everything but these were just so so salty I couldn't enjoy them. I did eat them because I was hungry (and later my son's leftover egg dish). The other patios all had a wait.
