I called today because last minute I realized it would be a great idea to bring a rivet tray to a friend's house.

A short walk later, I found myself at Destination Dogs, a place I had seen in photographs that suggested capaciousness. In reality, it is smaller.  This is not a complaint, just an observation.  I remember once hearing something about the contents of small packages. At 12:30 the place was full. Packed with humanity and appetite. I was seated quickly, as if someone had anticipated my hunger in advance. From the bar came the sound of construction crews discussing their midday rituals. Apparently this is where they come on Fridays, to repair themselves while they repair the city. It explained everything. Service was swift and attentive, a minor miracle given the crowd. I began with a Scotch egg, an item that seemed to have wandered in from another story entirely. I ordered it for that reason. I had always imagined my first Scotch egg would be eaten in an English pub under low ceilings and older regrets. Instead, here it was. Perfectly crisp, warm, and generous. The universe does not ask for permission. Then came the main event. The menu is an atlas of hot dogs. Domestic. International. Proteins in tube form arranged like possibilities. There is even an invitation to build your own, which I accepted. I attempted to recreate a favorite from Crif Dogs, a thing called the Spicy Redneck. Bacon wrapped dog. Pickled jalapenos. Coleslaw. Simple in theory. Destination Dogs improved upon it in every way that matters. The bacon crisped with purpose. The jalapenos spoke clearly. The coleslaw behaved. The hot dog itself seemed proud to be there. All of this, plus a 16 ounce beer, cost me about twenty five dollars with tip. A small price for order in a chaotic universe. Five stars. Not because perfection exists, but because this comes close enough to make the argument.

Fun spot with awesome dogs and great vibes!…read more This place is such a cool restaurant/bar that feels like a local staple for sure. The staff is super friendly and know their way around the (very large) menu. Honestly, they have a hot dog or sausage combo for just about everyone. I let the bartender pick for me, and she nailed it. She chose an all-beef dog that was basically a Big Mac in hot dog form. I was skeptical at first, but wow this hit in all the right ways. Awesome presentation, even better flavor. I could've easily eaten three of these. I also tried the onion rings, the bartender warned me they were just "meh," and she wasn't wrong, lol. For round two, I went with an all-beef dog topped with pastrami this is basically a Reuben-style dog. Another win! Great flavor, great presentation. Overall, I'd totally recommend Destination Dogs if you're in the area. Just a heads up, if there's a game on, it gets loud. Like "can't-hear-your-friend-next-to-you" loud. But if that's your vibe, you'll love it.

I used to come here with my Dad so I've got fond memories of the place. When I walked in it felt like it hadn't changed since the 80s. And don't get me wrong...that's NOT a negative comment. There was a short line when I got there, but it moved quickly and I put in my order for one chili cheese dog and one with chili, kraut and mustard. I've always loved the dogs here. I know they used to use Grote and Weigel dogs and they SEEM like the same ones I've always loved so perhaps they are still the same. Either way, the dogs were GREAT. I dont mind traveling for dogs, but this is a little outside my normal range to be too regular. However, if I'm in the area (and there are actually a bunch of great places in the area) I'd certainly come back. Great dogs, fast service, great ambiance, and for me...and solid nostalgic memories.

As of recently, I have not been the biggest fan of the food as much as I used to be. The burgers are delicious! However, I love the popcorn /fried shrimp & now more than I've ever noticed before, it's low-key (actually pretty fn gross} gross biting into the shrimp & seeing the shrimp's not removed! Eww ! Even the diner in Boro, manville & Applebee's remove the crap from the crustacean‍. I won't be ordering the shrimp anymore, although I took a gamble tonight (probably stupid on my part considering it's been happening for like over 3 months now whenever I order it) ! Also, no disrespect to the business or staff, but the parking lot is TERRIBLE! Make sure you don't go on a "car show" night or during rush hours, or you'll be screwed trying to find a spot! Bet. The employees are all really kind & polite though. At least the female cashiers I've dealt with were super cool. We even complimented each other's nails & had a short & enjoyable conversation (as they were not busy at the time & she had free time) . They are very kind ppl. Besides the shrimp s*** & crummy parking, this place is decent. Please start removing the poop from the popcorn shrimp. I don't want to be full of shrimp . . Thx! Have a great day & shout out to the awesome chick who hooked me up with the soda I forgot to call in to my order! Staff is super respectful & helpful. I'll be back but ONLY for burgers, grilled cheese, & chicken tenders, & the best thing on the menu imo : cheese fries . I might have to get my shrimp elsewhere! I hope not. We'll see... I risked ordering it tonight but haven't opened it yet! No whammys... no whammys... no shrimp waste...pleaseeeee... fingers crossed haha. Idk I did not open the bag yet. Praying for some good yummy clean shrimp! Not the ones that uhh well, full of crap (no pun intended).

Besides the classics fried seafood and hot dogs, they're also doing chicken wings, cheesesteaks, pastrami sandwiches, even a half-chicken with fries. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The foot-long delivers and the regular dogs are fine, if not a little salty. The chicken wings are great, but I always get them naked and then dip in sweet chili, sriracha,Nashville hot, bbq, or another half-dozen sauces. I had the half chicken there and enjoyed it. My mother was happy to find a place still doing fish and chips around here, and we got it several times. The fries are crinkle cut, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and kind of addictive. The whitefish fried filet is not bad, but the fried shrimp steal the show. Those are crunchy and also a bit addictive. Hard to eat just a few. I would go back there just for the fried shrimp. The hush puppies are the lowest point: too dense and dry. They also do burgers there but I haven't tried those yet. Overall, good experience there, the chicken dishes are the standouts.
