What the Philly Pretzel Factory lacks in the quality of their food, they make up in their marketing and branding. That is how I ended up giving them a try. I called in an order and was somewhat surprised when I was quoting a little over an hour for my order to be ready. Even more shocked when I got there and the food is seemingly premade and just warmed up when it's ordered. The pretzel part of the pretzel dog was thin, rock hard, had a weird after-taste, and was almost cracker-like. Thankfully the dog itself was tasty. The pizza wasn't anything special and I honestly couldn't even tell that it was a pretzel crust. It was kind of dried out and bland. It wasn't bad, but it was the menu item that I was the most excited to try so I'm sure you can imagine the let down. Lastly, I ordered the cinnamon rivet box (picture included). Aside from the delicious dips, the rivets themself had minimal flavor and didn't look like the pictures online hardly at all. I got the butter cream and brownie batter dips. Both were the highlight of of my experience. The finally aspect of my visit that I wanted to mention was the inside of the store. I thought a store where they bake pretzel would smell heavenly, like Auntie Ann's. Instead, it kinda smelled like body odor and cigarettes. Stopped by here for the first time yesterday for a mid day snack, and was pleasantly surprised with their pricing, selection, and location. This place would be wonderful to cater pretzels from as that is what they are known for, but they are also good for a little snack as well. I am rating the pretzels a 4/5 because while they were good, the outsides were a bit tough so I do think they might have been sitting the warmer box for too long. That being said, even if they were a little stale I finished off the cup! When you purchase a cup, you also get one free dipping sauce which is great as other pretzel places charge for sauce. I picked up a bucket and small box of their pretzel rivets for a party. I got their cheese and spicy brown mustard for dipping. The pretzel rivets were fresh and warm. The rivets needed more salt on the outside. The brown spicy mustard was excellent, the right amount of mustard and spice. The cheese sauce was just okay. It tasted like melted velveeta. After the new owner took over it's not the same. I like it but it's not that welcoming place it once used to be. I was very disappointed when I stopped by today because I had the kids with me and as I know kids in the service industry are annoying and it's best those feeling stay hidden. I am super sorry my kiddos hands were all over but I did my best to correct her and tell her to keep her hands off the display of dipping condiments and kept asking her which do you like all the while see the cashier get very annoyed and irritated. I think a solid front display case is ideal especially if you don't want customers to touch product. I am sorry. I often frequent this place but will refrain for the time being. I like their product but there's a whole lot wrong with this store. First off trying to place an order using their online option was a terrible experience. First the order timed out while I was trying to figure out why the menu price listed didn't match the price shown on the splash page. (Never could figure it out, my guess is that this franchisee raised their price 33% over the corporate page price.) My time entering the order couldn't have been more than 2-3 minutes??! When I reentered the order it wouldn't process because it said the "address didn't match". Again I have no idea what it was referring to. I surrendered and decided to call the store. The call didn't go well either. I wanted to order it for 3:45 on a Sunday. The employee answering the phone said I needed to come earlier (they close at 4) because they are going to be really busy? It was for Super Bowl Sunday, I'm sure they will be busy, but I couldn't come earlier, that's why I gave them a precise time. I would have been fine with waiting my turn. Called the same day I wanted to pick up a family pack for a pool party later that day. The gentleman that answered the phone was annoyed with the hour plus lead time but said they could do it. Website had only a 30 minute lead time but I was unable to process my order. The family pack is not a huge order by any means (8 mini cheesesteaks, 8 mini hot dogs and rivots (think pretzel bites). When I arrived, I was a little anxious from the phone order but the lady working the counter was very nice and friendly! She was helping another customer when I got there and was conversational with both of us. If she had answered the phone, it would have been a five star review! The price point for the amount of food was a great value. My favorite were the mini cheesesteaks. They were delicious! Not a fan of the hotdogs but I'm picky with my hotdogs and like all beef. Nacho dip was a little spicy (which was good) and the honey mustard was nice and sweet. Kids ate them all just fine. BTW...If you have an air-fryer, they reheat nicely in just a few minutes. Crisp outside, chewy inside, fragrant and salty - What more could you ask for? Rhetorical, but I'll answer; cheese! I stopped in on a weekday evening just before closing time. It was my first visit, so I wasn't sure what to get. I was surprised and delighted by the variety of choices. I settled on what looked like a large long pretzel that had pepperoni slices across the top of it. It came with a side of marinara. I was waffling between the pretzel bites and a full sized twist pretzel. The girl that helped me recommended the latter, as they had just come out of the oven. Great choice! Was double charged, paid online and was recharged when another person picked the order up. The pick up person told the counter person it was already paid for online but they wouldn't give them the order until paid again! It was a big party tray and they paid again just to get it to its destination! When we called they refused to refund the online payment and would only refund if the pickup person came back in. They seemed to not care when we asked if they could just refund their card without them having to go back and they refused. It was very inconvenient but they didn't seem to care. I stumbled upon Philly Pretzel Factory during a trip down Manchester Rd. I had never noticed it before and realized that's because they just opened. I got 12 mini pretzels and a honey mustard dip. This was fairly early on a Sunday Morning and the pretzels were not fresh. I should say they could have been fresh but they were not warm. They had a nice chewy consistency and a good amount of salt. Tried the pretzel company today due to the best friend visiting from Oregon, and I now understand why I kept driving without stopping, all these months since moving here. We visited probably at a weird time of day for pretzels, around 3pm, which I can totally understand the inventory at this time needing to be switched out, or something along those lines. However, the pretzel mini's that my BF received all seemed as if they had been there since last night, with a stiff texture and less than buttery flavor. The salt flaked off because it was probably sitting under the light for a while. My hotdog pretzel was also slightly stale tasting. The hotdog wasn't overcooked though, which I was happy about. The cheese that was at the bottom part of the pretzel was off-putting, but I also don't enjoy provel that much. It made the pretzel wrapping the hotdog slide around. Facilities at Philly Pretzel seem unplanned and inadequate- no little dipping dishes to offer up for those seeking mustards, no trash bin outside, and no place to sit and enjoy the bounty from within. While some of this may seem deliberate, to force patrons out so they enjoy their pretzel from their cars given the location off the mostly-traffic laden Manchester road, a few small touches to make me feel like I wasn't allowed to eat my treat there, would have been nice. Prices are reasonable, all things considered, and the service was friendly/prompt, hence the one star for each of those two categories. Biggest change I'd wish for this establishment is a rotation of pretzels, along with a schedule of replacing the unsold inventory, if it's not already happening, based on what our purchases today tasted like. If that already is happening, then something in the recipe may need a slight change, such a pinch less baking soda or similar. read more

A friend gave me a heads-up during a conversation about pretzels. Sure, don't we all talk to our friends about pretzels? They've got four pretzel sandwiches: dog, cheesesteak, pepperoni and melted cheese, and spicy sausage; two lemonades; and pretzels in every imaginable shape, size and quantity (including party trays). Just for a sampler to get an idea of their product, I got an order of "rivets". They're small pieces of soft pretzel (nuggets) in a clear plastic cup (domed lid with a hole in the top) called a Shaker Cup . . . whatever. About 10 rivets in the cup. Really good. Soft. Hot. Salty. Comes with a dipping sauce. Choices: marinara, cream cheese, melted cheese, cinnamon butter (made with margarine), buttercream, chocolate, honey mustard, spicy brown mustard, yellow mustard and superhot mustard. I got cheese -- in an itty-bitty cup. I should have rationed portions, 'cause that cheese dip was gone after four rivets. I'm gonna call that chintzy. The remaining rivets are in the freezer, prepared for the next time I make cheese sauce. Cost ~$4. read more

I have been waiting for Philly Pretzel Factory to open and they finally have. My first experience was great. The staff were beyond friendly. The pretzels are great- soft and served warm. They offer pretzel dogs, spicy pretzel sausages, pepperoni pretzel melts, and cheesesteak pretzels in addition to the regular pretzels and rivets (pretzel bites). They also have a variety of party trays which appear to be a great value. They have a wide assortment of dips including nacho and cheddar cheese, several types of mustard (the super hot mustard is indeed super hot), chocolate, cinnamon, and buttercream. They even have bottles of some of the mustard varieties you can sample. I have to say the pretzels rank among the best soft pretzels I have tried, and I have tried pretzels from many different places. Salty and chewy. This will be a short review because I only tried one item. The pretzel bites. The bites come in 3 quantities: small, medium and large. Since I was the only one consuming the doughy treats I went with the small. (roughly a dozen). Unlike Auntie Anne's the pretzels here come with a dipping sauce (free). I chose the spicy nacho cheese. Open atmosphere so you can see what really takes place in the dough world. I think the person in front of me took that last philly pretzel but I'm sure they had more coming fresh out of somewhere. Bought a pretzel dog, spicy pretzel dog and pepperoni pizza (not the official names) spicy dog had a kick to it. pretzel dog what you would expect out of a pretzel dog. pepperoni pizza was unique...and quite tasty. We also bought their mini pretzels, they had a fancier name for that also. Very good but not hot. I like mine hot or at least warm, these were neither. what I didn't like was how they put the calories on the menu. I just stumbled across this place while out west on an errand. I decided to stop by about 4 p.m. on a Saturday to see what it's about and to get a pretzel. The guy behind the counter showed me all of the items in the case, and they did not look fresh or appetizing at all. The pretzel dogs looked like they had some sort of film forming on them oh, and the other specialty items just didn't look good. Everything looked very old. I decided to try a regular pretzel. I got it straight from under the warming lamp, but it was ice cold. It was highly disappointing. Being a huge Pretzel Boys fan and a lifelong Gus's fan, I found this place highly disappointing. I will definitely not be back. While I was in there three different people came in to get orders so obviously I am in the minority. This place is so unorganized and managed poorly. You can submit an order online and select a pick up time but then when you arrive at the pick up time you still have to wait a minimum of 30 minutes to get your order. As I'm waiting in line, the manager announces to the crowd of patrons (also waiting) that he apologizes but they are "getting killed". They couldn't have expected that a bunch of people would want to order pretzels for the Super Bowl. You make pretzels, this is what you do! The pretzels are good just plan on waiting around to get your order because while you might have your life together and plan ahead of time, they, certainly do not. read more
