    a pretzel and dip
    Sandra K.

Felt nauseous today so figured a pretzel would help. Never been here before and heard it's a local place so I stopped by. First of all the place is really big. I was surprised. Second all of the pretzel wrapped meats were really big. Like the ratio was insane so I didn't get any of those. Never thought I would say this but the meat was definitely too big for the wrap. I got two dry boys or whatever they're called and cheddar cheese dip, vanilla icing, and then an Arizona mustard. I'm an Auntie Anne's kind of girl in all of its buttery goodness but these were real deal pretzels and they were pretty tasty. I feel like a little butter wouldn't hurt to help grease these dry guys up on the way down but it all had good flavor. Will try an inappropriately ratiod meat dog next time.

I had an absolutely amazing experience at Pretzel Boy's. I ordered two of their braut pretzels and two cheese braut pretzels (aka pretzel wrapped meats) along with half dozen of their softies with the jalapeno cheese dip. O.M.G. becky. The cheese dip was amazing with the pretzels. It was so good. The brauts were piping hot and the pretzel "bun" surrounding them were just amazing. Dip them in the cheese dip.... your world will be rocked. (Being that this is a family show, I can't go into anymore detail) Needless to say, I'm a big fan. I will definitely come back and visit the next time I'm in the area.

So happy that Pretzel Boy's opened another location! This location is different from the others (Sunset Hills and Manchester) because they have seating. Not a lot of seating, but they have several bar stools against the front wall. Perfect place to wait while your order is being prepared or perfect for the 5 minutes you need to wolf down your dog. They have their regular pretzels, a variety of pretzel dogs, and mini pretzels ready to go. If they are out of something, it is usually ready to go in about 5 minutes. My favorite thing to order is the mini-pups. These are just little wieners wrapped in pretzel dough, but they are excellent! Because they aren't a menu staple, they are made to order in about 8 minutes. You could call ahead your order when you walk out of your house, or plan on waiting once you arrive. They are always piping hot and go perfectly with some cheese. There are 3 types of cheese (American, Pepperjack, and Chedder). They also have frosting for dipping- perfect for the cinnamon sugar covered pretzels. The cheese reheats pretty easily at home the next day.

Pretzels and mustard together are pretty great. Pretzel Boy's has the second best pretzels in town. I think it's fair to call them the second best. We all love the local hero vs. the franchise that you buy, right? These are still an excellent afternoon snack with free mustard. Honey Mustard, spicy brown mustard, horseradish mustard, etc. I'll be back!

I have been meaning to stop in here since driving by it a few weeks ago. Did not disappoint. Lots of different options, such as brat pretzels, hot dog pretzel, sausage pretzel, or just pretzel bites. Very cheap for being a niche service such as pretzels! I was able to try their jalapeño cheese sauce, regular softie, hot dog pretzel, and mustard sauce. I enjoyed both pretzels. I liked the jalopeno cheese sauce better than the mustard sauce. But when dipping the hot dog/brat, the mustard sauce was the way to go!! I hope to be back and to try their vanilla icing.

Fun treats. Customer service leave much to be improved. Sadly not much to report. Special nuggets & cheese for $2.49. 2-5pm so rarely fresh.

Pro tip: you can ask for the sandwiches to be heated up! As for the desserts: I really wanted a cake sweet treat but my eyes were bigger than my belly could handle. Got the maple pull, chocolate almond croissant , and ham and gruyere croissant. Which I cannot wait to eat tomorrow for breakfast!! Place is busy but moves fast. The breads for the sandwiches were great and soft after being warmed up! My toddler loved the caia and refused to share with us. I liked their chocolate croissant and it would have been ideal with a hot cup of coffee. I highly recommend for literally all occasions!

Even with the crowd, they kept the line moving and everything seemed very organized. I ordered a fruit croissant, a chocolate Napoleon, and a coffee. My friend spent a little extra time browsing all the pastry cases before finally making her selections and ordering a coffee as well. While we waited, we admired the beautiful cakes on display and talked about all the incredible-looking pastries. Honestly, I wish I could have ordered one of everything because that's what I really wanted to do! Pastries are one of my biggest weaknesses, and choosing just one or two items is never easy at a bakery like this. Everything looked delicious. Last year, (I waited that long) I sent Simone, the owner, a message on instagram to let her know I was frustrated about having trouble getting any of the crème puffs she was constantly advertising. They were one of my favorite pastries she made. (Obv not super important I just thought she may not know & what could it hurt giving her some input from a customer, she may know know?) In this message I also told her how long I'd been supporting her & why and how much I loved her bakery. She is black, female, and truly an artist and master at her craft. With a good personality, That being said; she unleashed her fury on me, one of the angriest most condescending messages I had ever read. Not sure if I caught her on a bad day or she just doesn't handle feedback well. I was stunned and disappointed. Either way, I would never consider stepping foot into her bakery ever again. Her window has maybe 5 things to choose from. It's pretty sad, but there were 2 items I love love loved, and I drove out of my way and paid top dollar for those items. She's by far one of the most expensive bakeries in St. Louis, but I enjoyed supporting her I thought she was great. And she has a moving story. Sadly she doesn't know how to handle customers or feedback. I'm in customer service, 30 years, that's not how you do it, I still think she's a cool Person but not enough to support her. We have a ton of fabulous bakeries here I'd rather go to like Nathaniel Reid or Russell's or MO baking co....

Honestly, if you judged it by the outside, you might drive right past it. There is one parking spot in front, and then a run down parking lot behind and to the side. The moment I walked in, I felt like I was back in my childhood. The lime green decor, the dark bakery display cases filled with buns, and the small plates of food inside reminded me of the Cantonese bakeries I grew up going to. They also had ready to go meals wrapped up to take home. We bought a bunch of things to try. We had the beef cheung fun, siu mai, BBQ pork baos, sesame balls, egg custard tarts, and one of my favorites, the giant round sponge cake. Everything was fresh and really tasty. The roast pork looked delicious too, with nice crispy skin. The biggest surprise for me was seeing lo po beng (Old Wife Cake). We can hardly ever find it on the East Coast, so whenever we do, we always buy some for my mom. Seeing it here made me so happy. I live in the Metro D.C. area, where we have some really good Cantonese bakeries, so I wasn't expecting much from this tiny place. But honestly, Wei Hong Bakery could definitely give many of the bakeries back home a run for their money. Don't let the outside fool you. If you're looking for authentic Cantonese bakery items in St. Louis, this little bakery is absolutely worth a visit. It brought back so many childhood memories, and I'd definitely stop again the next time I'm in town.
