OK, so you know when you judge a book by its cover? You think there's no WAY you're going to like it and then you open it and you're like, wow - that was amazing. That was Pretzel Stop for me. It's "cover" is quite worn and definitely has a lot of shelf wear, but don't let that deter you. Heads up: the interior is only open on the weekends. I was fortunate enough to hit the store at just the right time, as the pretzel bites were WARM. They were light, fluffy and simply perfectly baked. The outside had just the right amount of golden-brown crispness, while the inside was soft and fully cooked, without being doughy. They also nailed the salt level. I love love love Pretzel Stop. It's kind of a "best kept secret" in St. Peters, but the locals know it's the place to go for the best chicken salad sandwich in town and the tastiest soft pretzels. I love the large assortment of dips to choose from and appreciate the cream cheese and chive cream cheese the most. Most places only offer that nasty day glow, orange cheese sauce, but not here. You get your choice of sweet and savory dips. They have a pretty big menu including burgers, sandwiches, sausage stuffed pretzels, pretzel bites and even catering and special orders. I know everyone agrees that the quality and taste of their pretzels can't hold a candle to Gus' Pretzels but yet every time I give this location a chance (inside the former A&W restaurant), I get more and more confused on exactly what the direction of this place is as the menu is way too exhausting & confusing. Maybe the owner who seems like a nice person, should look around at QSRs that actually crush it like Raising Canes who mastered a select FEW items instead of just being mediocre at TOO many items. Oh man, was I craving food one morning at work. Our vehicle wouldn't fit through the drive-thru so I called in an order in the parking lot. The woman who answered was so nice, I know she was busy and I didn't know you could order online. She totally didn't care but still informed me. My food came out quick and we pulled away. 1 minute later I got a call and she had given me someone else's sandwich. Totally fine. Things happen and she was busy! I had a hamburger. Despite the meat's anemic looking light gray color the burger was fully cooked and flavorful. I ordered the pretzel bites and a side of honey mustard dipping sauce. The menu is vast. I went through the drive thru and was on my way. I didn't like the pretzels. They didn't have a chewy crust. They tasted soft and doughy like a soft white dinner roll. I have never loved Pretzel Boys but their pretzels are better.
