that Philly steak sandwich is amazing great service and will be going only there for my Philly sandwich

Being from the Mid-Atlantic, and loving a good diner, I was happy to step in to the Philly Diner with my son. The service was good, the restaurant was clean. Lots of Philadelphia Eagles memorabilia lines the walls - and it did feel like a NE Diner. Great start! - but the food was, honestly, just so-so. The cheesesteak was roughly assembled and average. My son got breakfast burrito which was mostly fluffy egg, poorly wrapped and ill-conceived. It sounded so good on the menu, but did not live up to expectations. Perhaps we caught them on a bad day. But there are too many diners in the area to settle for this one. read more

My husband ordered the meatloaf. Waitress had to check if they had any, said the delivery truck hadn't arrived. They did have it. He also wanted mashed potatoes and green beans. She waited and came back twice. First time to say it would be a wait because they had to make the mashed potatoes. No green beans because of the delivery not there. No lemon for our water because of the truck. Waited awhile for the meal husband said meatloaf tasted weird. Then bill comes and got charged extra for using a card. Waitress should dress appropriately. who wants to see someone's flab sticking out of shorts. What a pathetic experience. A restaurant should have what's on the menu! Not exactly hidden, but definitely a gem in this rural setting...the food was fantastic and the prices definitely fair...a big, handmade burger, fries and 2 beers for under $20...I'll take it! Definitely worth the drive off the beaten path read more

The Philly Diner is awesome! The portions are huge and the food is delicious! I come to Florida every two months and a trip to the Philly Diner is a must! I love the breakfast, eggs, home fries and scrapple are so good! The last trip we tried the biscuits and grav, pancakes and link sausage and it was very good! for lunch I get a Philly Cheesesteak or a cheeseburger and the French fries are delicious! The waitresses are always very friendly and take very good care of us every time we were there. We're looking forward to our next trip to Florida and The Philly Diner! read more

Is Philadelphia as dirty as this diner? The food was worse than the cleanliness. Greasy, and flavorless. Niceness most have beeb reserved for the " Go Brandon" hat wearing customers I saw getting refills because the waitress was cold as my coffee. This had good reviews from many people. I completely disagree with anyone who says this is good food. I'm so TIRED of these restaurants taking advantage and giving tiny portions for prices that do not match the order. I paid over ten bucks for a skimpy Rueben and chewy hand made chips. Unbelievably skimpy for a sandwich like this! I also ordered a Philly cheesesteak. Completely wet right after picking it up. Bread was stupid wet. The person who took the order( I'll leave her name out) explained that is how their subs come out because their meat is so juicy. Incorrect, you sandwich is so wet because you have to use juice to cover up the over cook meat!! And this was served with horrible frozen crinkle cut garbage fries. Now little diners are usually hit and miss. Very VERY disappointed and for the money NOT WORTH IT!! Bread sooo thin I don't know how they call it a sandwich. read more

Yikes if this is what they call a Philly diner there is much to be desired. First of all, the diner has no AC but is in Florida, that is unacceptable. Secondly, They have the AUDACITY to polarize half of who cpuld be their clientelle by having a "Donald Trump" burger. As a businesss decision you shouldnt name anything on the menu after any political figures. The coffee is horrible and the food wasnt anything special. This place is legit. Food is amazing and they have scrapple which reminds me of home. Inside it is very low key and there is usually never a wait when we go. We even got take out once and it was still the same. If you are from up north put this place on your list. read more

Rocky 1 really knocked me out. Eggs cooked right. Hash browns crispy good. Coffee you could stand your spoon up in.

Small local place, take out food was reasonable and tasted okay but we were disappointed, not everyone was wearing masks, place seemed untidy or poorly maintained and food ended up disagreeing with both of us. read more

Stopped in for breakfast based on other Yelp reviews. Delicious food! Unlike other posts, we thought the service was fine. The food arrived fast enough, was hot and the portions were very large. Taste of food is hit and miss. What is most distressing is the wait staff is not clean. They smoke out back and then come right in and start handling food without washing hands. Makes me think they don't wash hands after using the toilet. Other day I peeked through to kitchen and saw them pick something up off the floor, put it back on the plate, and take the plate out to a customer. I walked out of that nasty place. I love cheesesteak sandwiches! I figured with a name like Philly Diner, this would be a good place to get one. However, the entire experience was disappointing. From the Trump propaganda plastered everywhere, to the dry, tasteless sandwich, I wouldn't spend another dime here. There was dust and dead bugs on the ledge and the wait staff was nearly non existent. Our first, and likely only visit, to this diner was quite disturbing. Our waitress, Becca, was quite rude and inefficient when it came to taking our order and advising us if there would be an additional charge if we made even the slightest change to our order. I did not see the increase until I saw me check. When I asked about the increase Becca pointedly said "It's on the menu!" I asked if she would reconsider the increase since it was our first time in the diner. She said nothing and walked away. Several minutes later I asked if we could have a refill on coffee. Her response was that I didn't have to be so rude. I surely did not believe I was rude. She brought coffee and refilled my coffee only. She gave my wife none. I gave up and left not to return. I am sure that Becca will be pleased that she has such notoriety. Hopefully the owner reads this review. read more

Philly Diner is a hole in the wall eatery, it is one of the best diners I have been to in a very long time. My family found this place while driving home and I am so glad we did. The waitress was very good and social, she was hands on, our drinks were never empty. Next time we have to travel to DeLand I would absolutely stop here again. The prices you can not beat. As a true Philadelphian I am insulted this place passes this slop off as a cheesesteak. The roll was soggy, the cheesesteaks came with onions, peppers and mushrooms which any Philadelphian understands why this needs no explaination.The staff looked like they were on drugs, the place is dirty and the toilet wouldn't flush. Our waitress disappeared for like 10 minutes to the bathroom and never came back to the table. I ordered an ultimate omelet with no mushrooms and no cheese, the waiter tells us that the cook messed up the first one which is fine. She finally brings out a new omelet but it looks like someone threw up in it, it was raw in the middle, had big chunks of ham, and was very watery. I also ordered hash browns which were VERY mushy. We told the waitress that we felt bad for telling her the food is bad, but it was. She then proceeds to try and make us pay for the drinks that we took 2 sips out of. The Philly Diner is what it is...a mom and pop home cooking diner. For the value and food quality, it is EXCEPTIONAL! I eat there at least twice a week. They have daily specials that are a great value, and the full menu is well thought out. I love getting breakfast in the afternoon, the burgers are world class (Monday is burger special day), the cheesesteaks are great...especially the bread. Beer on tap ice cold, dollar Miller High Lifes, home cooking ...what else could you want? I highly recommend the omelets, burgers, cheesesteak, the footlong dog...just about anything. Our first visit to this restaurant was based on a recommendation by a friend. He thought that the cheese steaks were the best around and my wife seems to agree. She had the 6" sandwich which is a special on Tuesdays. It came on a very fresh Amoroso bakery roll (made in Philadelphia, they ship everywhere) with cheese. Fries are included or you can upgrade to onion rings. I tried the Italian sausage on the roll with onions and peppers. The sausage had that great fennel taste that all Italian sausage should have.The service was quick and friendly. We got there just as the breakfast rush was ending. Parking could be a problem at peak times but we will return to try a couple of other things. The menu is huge, with many variations for breakfast. If you are a northerner and a fan of Taylors pork roll they usually have it. I am not crazy about it and my wife never heard of it before. Next time I will try the Polish kielbasa and sauerkraut sandwich to see if it is as authentic as the Italian sausage. read more

Took my mom to lunch here recently and it's really not a great option. I went for the Philly Cheesesteak my mom had the scrapple and egg combo. The service was pretty slow it took quite awhile for us to get our food. Our server, however, was very nice and kept my drink filled, which can be a pain since I do drink a lot. My cheesesteak didn't come with any onion as advertised. I didn't want to complain because I was tired of waiting at that point and just wanted to eat. The sandwich was good, not anything really special for a place that avows the greatest Philly cheesesteak sub. My mom said the scrapple was good and reminded her of when she was a child. My biggest complaint was the after-effects of the meal itself. With diner food, because it usually is so greasy you tend to get a little belly gurgling after eating that kind stuff. This meal left both of us with major gut rot, I won't go into details, but it wasn't pleasant in the slightest. I spoke with a friend who had also gone there and he faced the same issue. All in all, I wouldn't recommend, you get meh food and the after-effects aren't worth it. I only gave two stars instead of one, because the server was very nice. read more

Stopped in Today looking for variety of choices due to number of people. We were a little leery when we pulled in but menu looked great, prices were reasonable, with the rating on here and they had good reviews so we tried it. Arrived about 1:30. They close at 3. Out of most soups ok understandable it's later in day, but then they were out of wheat bread. Then the one cup of pea soup was so thick you could eat with a fork. The waitress said the fish was Cod not so. It was not cooked right it was almost raw. the batter was so full of pepper or spices that even if cooked it was to spicy to eat. Tatar sauce was nasty. All three people who ordered fish were not happy. The waitress did replace meals but by then almost everyone else was done eating. The Philly sandwich's were good. When checking out the waitress said oh did I say the fish was Cod. Oops it was Pollock. Needless to say we won't be back. We are usually pretty easy to please but can't eat raw fish. read more
