We have been going here for at least 15 years and they service and food are awesome. The owners have been there since we have been going and we Love that consistency. A friend and I decided to try this restaurant, because neither of us have never been there before. Upon walking in the ambience is great very warm very inviting, culturally sensitive. The food I will say whisk OK. The chicken with green onion presented well not very much flavor which was a little disappointing. As an appetizer, the portion was adequate. With regard to the sushi it was nothing to write home about. It was OK. Finally, the service I can't say a lot about it because I don't know that it was all that great. We really did not see the waitress much, and though friendly, just really didn't go above and beyond it was kind of difficult to get a hold of her when we needed something. Overall, this was OK. It's been awhile since I last visited (looks like 2015). Came here for lunch to celebrate my brother's birthday. It appears to be under different management now since 2015 but looks quite the same. I don't remember all the rolls we got but could name a few: Rainbow Roll, Yellowtail Roll, Happy Dragon Roll, Cosmo Roll, Samurai Roll, Yellow Monster Roll (?) and two others. All the Rolls were great and definitely would like to try out more of their menu. Love sushi and happy to say it's better than our last experience. Glad to revisit and try it out again. Overall, they've gotten a lot better and it's great they open on Sundays which a lot of sushi places are closed - a plus for them. My husband comes here often during the week b/c it is close to his work. We were out shopping during the weekend and decided to stop in. We both immediately noticed how hot it was inside the restaurant. Almost as if they had the heat on during a 70+ degree day. After about 10 minutes I got used to it enough and decided to stay. We both ordered Miso soup and a Sleeping Beauty roll. The miso was good but had way too many scallions in it (and I like them just very overwhelming amount this day). I have to say I really enjoyed our sushi rolls. The sleeping beauty has tuna inside, avocado I think cucumber, krap on top, spicy mayo etc. Really really great roll. I would order this again in a second. Service was attentive without being overwhelming and she checked on our drinks twice which was appreciated. It's a small, quaint place perfect for lunch or dinner. It does get pretty busy though because their daily specials are pretty amazing and it's right by Regal Avenues and the Avenues Mall. I don't know how I ended up here. This is the worst place to get a Ramen. Too salty! Taste like saltwater. I put water but lost the taste. I ordered Sushi but it smells bad. I couldn't in good conscience allow it to enter my mouth. Waiter is rude. Banging the glasses on the table, spilling the refill. Careless and incompetent service. Loved the soft piano music they play in the background. The interiors of the restaurant are already nice to begin with, so the music adds to the ambiance. The service was quick. Moment I walked in, the host greeted my right away offering me any seat that I would like. I was the only one there, sure, but it was still nice. I ordered the Miso Soup, Fried Crab appetizer, and their version of the dragon roll. All of it was delicious. The Fried crab was crispy and meaty with crab and the dragon roll tasted great. The avocado, the shrimp, the rice, all of it seemed like it was made fresh for me. Sushi places can taste the same after while. Philip Sushi is located in a little strip mall on Philips Hwy. Stopped in for lunch this past Saturday with my sister and was pleasantly surprised. It is a tiny place with only about 15 tables. The place is very clean, well decorated and played a great soundtrack throughout the restaurant! I don't know if it was Japanese music or not, but I had not heard it before. The Sushi is wonderful! I got the Lunch Special Rolls, 2 for $7.50 or 3 for $9.95. They were fresh, pretty to look at and even better tasting! They didn't overpower you with a lot of rice and the fish portion was substantial. My sister got the Sushi Special, buy 2 rolls, get 1 @ 50% off. Comes out to about the same price as my three rolls, but this way we got to try different rolls. Hers were just as good and we had to take a lot home. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs!
