Pork Katsu Curry

This business has been here for over 10 years and this is our first time and definitely not the last. Came here on a Friday for dinner. Place is quite small but we were greeted and seated right away. Ordered the Shrimp Tempura roll for appetizer and it came out fresh! However, it does not come with the pickled ginger and wasabi and I had to ask for our server for them. She came back with only the ginger, oh well, we still enjoyed it. My husband got the Chicken Katsu Curry Rice and it taste like an authentic Japanese curry! Very flavorful! I opted for the Chicken Hibachi which comes with vegetables but I substituted the fried rice for noodles. I combined the veggies to the noodles and it was perfect! The chicken was tender and tasty! While devouring our dinner, I noticed more customers are coming in. I'm not surprised they are still doing well and have been in the business for so long, they served delicious meals!

One of my favorite places to go get sushi or hibachi, the food is always perfect. The service is always amazing and fast. They have a sushi bar and booths, which are comfy. They take extra pride in their presentation of their food and make sure you have a great experience. Always feel very well taken care of by the staff.

I quite enjoyed this meal !!! We came here on a whim after seeing a post about Jacksonville's Japanese curry scene and it's one of the places we haven't tried. It was a big plate but kinda expensive. Favorite thing we enjoyed was the sashimi. YUMMMMYYY!!! Not many places offer yellow tail belly and salmon belly! Sooooooo amazing i'm on cloud 9. Big pieces ! We were offered a complimentary kani croquet so good ! i would order that ! The curry comes with clear soup. One of the best clear soups ever. Full of flavor ! Not watery! We would probably order another one instead of sharing lol. Everyone was super nice and polite here which really does make the food taste so much better always. It's a cute little place ! We will come back for another meal for sure! More sashimi please !

Was first in the door. Waitress was friendly. Seated me and I said I was waiting on 1. I knew what we wanted after a couple minutes so caught her eye and she came over. Ordered fried gyoza, chicken Karagaa, hurricane roll and jalepeno roll (deep fried). First I loved all the various condiments on the table! The gyoza was very good. But then... no sauce on the chicken karagaa which itself was dry and tasteless; sushi seemed fresh and as ordered but just unremarkable. The wasabi was very tame - I like mine to burn my nose which didn't come close even when I ate a bit by itself. Marking it off my list. Been there done that. I really want some great chicken karagaa!!!!

Summer Roll and Yellowtail Jalapeno

The BEST Sushi in Jacksonville!! Service is amazing, she always so kind and treating every guest like family, with fast service. They are always giving free apps and deserts. The atmosphere is so relaxing with instrumental music playing in the background. The food is absolutely incredible - we always get the clear soup, salad, Summer Roll, Naruto Roll, and the Yellowtail Jalapeño Roll. The quality is so fresh. We drive 30 minutes out of the way just to come to this specific one. Can't wait to come back!!

Ol' reliable - fast service. Great food. Huge selection of options. Casual and always a good experience! With my shellfish allergy I'm usually pretty limited with sushi restaurants but Oishii never lets me down! My rolls were delicious and I'll always come back. Cheers!

I have visited this sushi place multiple times and the food is always so good! The owners are also very friendly, so it's a great place to visit!

The soup was very enjoyable. Delicious!

Tammy and I went together here after having our manicures and pedicures. The Waitress did not communicate well at all. They put my sushi on Tammy's plate. Really? I asked if I could have another plate for my sushi. The clear soup was some of the best I've ever had. The hot Sake was good and hot. The atmosphere was good as well. I would return, but I would make it very clear that I want my sushi on a separate plate. I would come back.

Best sushi spot in jax. Service is great and the food is always 10/10. I've been eating here 2-4x a month for over a year and can say I've thoroughly enjoyed exploring the Oishi menu. Specialty rolls are creative and skillfully executed. Sashimi is always fresh and delicious. Oishi is THE best.

It was super crispy, but the meat was still so juicy. And the sweet and creamy sauces just finished the perfect bite. The ramens were pretty solid too. The matcha broth was super creamy and light. And the tonkotsu was so flavorful, with really tender chashu and a perfectly soft boiled egg. Plus the noodles were a really good texture. The restaurant itself is really cute too. They also have a convenience store type of ramen station in the front, which I really want to try. As well as a little arcade game that you can play in the front while you wait to be seated. However, I was really not a fan of the service. It's nothing really against the servers because they were super nice, but they just seemed so frazzled. We arrived around an hour before closing, but it took forever for us to be seated, despite seeing a few empty tables around. By the time we were seated, we were told kitchen would be closing in two minutes, so we had to hurry and put in our orders. All of that was fine and I didn't mind. But what I did mind was that our waitress checked our order twice when we first have it. And she came back to our table within the next five minutes to check our orders again for a third time to make sure she had down what we wanted. I wanted the matcha ramen and was most looking forward to having some chashu and egg. So she confirmed my order three times that I wanted matcha ramen. But when it came out, she gave me the vegetable bowl. I knew the kitchen had closed at that point, so I just ate it, but I was really disappointed. (I did get to try a bite of my friends egg and chashu, which also didn't really help because it was so good and made me wish mine came with those even more.) When we were finished eating, it took forever for the checks to come out. This I also didn't mind that much, because the servers, again, looked really frazzled trying to close up. But at this point we had waited until well after their closing time, so part of me was hoping they could just close us out first and then finish closing down the place. I think we waited at least half an hour from when we first asked for the check (at which point we had already been waiting a while) to when we finally got our cards back. I did see they charged me for the vegetable version of the matcha ramen so it was whatever, but then also I was confused - so it wasn't a mix up in the kitchen, she rang it up as the vegetable one from the beginning! Even though I never mentioned it and she never said vegetable when confirming my order. It was a dollar less to get tofu instead of an egg and chashu which doesn't seem worth it. Writing this all out, I'm sorry to rant, because the food really was good. And looking at other reviews, it looks like the service is usually pretty good. But again, it was just disappointing. That being said, I am really hoping it was a one off thing because I would go again and try some other menu items too.

She was patient as my wife and I and a few friends reviewed the large menu with her, and followed up throughout our meal. The second was the food We started with sharing an appetizer of garlic soy fried chicken wings and dumplings...very tasty Then I had Tonkotsu Ramen and my wife had tempura udon... both were large servings, with home made noodles and a favorable pork broth with fresh vegetables. Mine had a 3 pieces of a thick cut pork and egg in the broth what was really surprising was when the dessert came... I think it was called mango Bing Soo... What it is, is a huge bowl of shaved ice with Mango and cream. It was delicious... and perfect for after the main dish we ordered... and I would go there just to get that dessert alone.... I don't normally take my time to recommend a place but I recommend this one as a find .. highly

Love to feel like a bother and paying for it at the same time But really I have never visited this location and has good or great service. Most importantly after spending so much time here my friend and I both spent the night up sick. Not sure if it was from the wings or the ramen but it seemed we both had a slight case of food poisoning. Overall save yourself the time and drive to other ramen places available in Jax, as there are much better ones that won't leave you sick.

The build your own poke is also one of my go-to choices and their ramen bowls will give you delicious leftovers for days! Basically it'd hard to go wrong here. Other random side notes are that they're closed Monday (which i forget alot) & their miso soup is made with a more savory (bone?) broth that I'm used too- not a bad thing, it just surprised me. In sum, if I were on death row I might just have to get a philly roll from here as my last meal.

The noodles themselves are also really good; some places have noodles that can taste a little "cardboard-y" - but not at Tokyo Ramen. What else? Service: friendly and fast... I rate it as a pretty good Asian restaurant with some minor flaws that can be easily fixed. BUT! I'll say up front that I didn't find any flaws with my meal and chosen beverage! Yes, I would certainly eat or do takeout here again! The good here, were the meals. The ramen, hibachi, and the dish that Lea ordered were sizable, filled with good meats and veggies - not just a rice or noodle stuffing. My hibachi with shrimp was cooked superbly! There was a nice orange sauce on the grilled shrimp and it was seared perfectly. I was a happy man. But it also came with fried rice (you can choose plan white rice too) and mixed veggies. It was a full meal indeed! Had to take some of it home. Jimmy also had the hibachi meal with chicken. He conquered his full meal - I don't know how! Goldie had one of the Japanese Tonkotsu Ramen bowls with chicken. It was filled with meats, vegetables and other items that she enjoyed for her evening meal. Given we ate on a Monday, it was pretty slow here - but there were a good number of carryout pickups too. My only real negatives was that the service was slow. It took quite a while to get my meal to me our server said it was because the carryout orders slowed things down inside. They had one server working on this evening and she was gracious and took pretty good care of us. The one other item we talked to each other about as far as this shop is concerned was the lack of air conditioning. It wasn't hot, but it was pretty warm inside. Yes, it was a very hot day and this restaurant has a large space to cool. So I can understand the need to conserve, but others may not. All in all we had a nice, relaxed evening with lots of jokes and smiles! This was a great place to meet up and I certainly would visit again! Recommend: HIGH

Karai Ramen Bistro is a full on experience and one of the best restaurants!…read more The restaurant is dark, intimate, and tucked away in a way that makes you feel like you've discovered a hidden gem. The vibe is fantastic and the staff matches it perfectly, friendly, warm, and attentive. We went twice in the late afternoon and never waited for a table, which is a huge bonus for a spot this good. The small plates alone are worth the visit. The Katsu Sando Sliders feature crispy chicken katsu on soft potato bread with fresh cabbage, katsu sauce, Japanese mayo, red onion, and sweet pickle peppers, every element working in perfect harmony. The Potato Korokke was equally incredible, perfectly crispy on the outside and filled with katsu fried potato and vegetables paired with katsu sauce and Japanese mayo. The Gyoza were perfectly crispy Japanese fried chicken dumplings, and the Harumaki was a great addition too. Everything fried here is done with real skill, the crunch is always there and never overdone. If you love spice, the KakuKara Ramen is an absolute must. A rich, creamy sesame broth made from chicken and pork stock with Japanese hot sauce and red miso, it is spicy, deeply flavorful, and completely addictive. Loaded with pork belly kakuni, homemade pickled peppers, cabbage, cilantro, green onions, and sesame seeds on those perfect curly noodles, it is everything you hope ramen will be. If you prefer something milder, the Katsu Shio Ramen is a beautiful classic, a delicate Japanese sea salt and dashi seasoned chicken broth with shiitake mushrooms, katsu chicken, red and green onions, and the most wonderful onsen tamago custard egg that takes the whole bowl to another level!
