Sushi
Caroline W.

Always loved sushi palace growing up, returned recently and it was just as great. Their prices are unbeatable, service is kind and quick, and the restaurant is always clean.

Poorly rolled sushi

Sushi was mediocre, but the sauces were terrible. Was given what I think was yum yum sauce instead of spicy mayo, and their sweet chili sauce tastes sugar-free.

No sushi in our sushi!

Couldn't find the sushi meat in our sushi! Our eel roll was just cucumber basically. And the same thing with our other 5 rolls also. Brought it up and waitress said that was how it's supposed to be. No thanks....not going back!!

Sashimi appetizer

Some of the freshest sashimi I've ever had. Seriously they nailed this sashimi appetizer with pride. Thank you. Great miso soup as well!

Edamame (to go) - really fresh!

Best sushi at the beaches! For Covid they have a great to-go menu and minimal contact set up. I love the dynamite roll, which is baked salmon with spicy sauce on top. The shrimp tempura with salmon on top is also great, lots of flavor. The Philadelphia roll is my brothers favorite, it has crab and cream cheese and I like the teriyaki chicken roll, which has avocado in it. The chicken is cooked and tender and the avocado balances it out with teriyaki sauce on top. The edamame is great and super fresh! The portion is very big so it can be shared to feed multiple people. We got 4 sushi entrees and a side for less than $30, so it's not too expensive. I think it's a great value. Love this place, definitely a local staple.

Front to back: tiger, caterpillar, black dragon and chefs roll

I've made it a personal challenge to try every sushi place in Jacksonville and this cute little spot was next on my list! I came in just the other night to satisfy my (never ending) sushi craving. We were seated after a 10 minute wait but it was totally worth it. We both started out with a miso soup and after much deliberation ordered the tiger roll, caterpillar roll, black dragon and chefs roll. All were fresh and tasty-sushi perfection. The star of the show was definitely the tiger roll. It paired pineapple, cream cheese and salmon. It was our wild card pick of the night that quickly became a favorite. The sweetness of the pineapple goes great with the creaminess of the cream cheese and the delicious salmon. The prices at this place are awesome! They charge very fairly for the price and portion of the rolls. These rolls are definitely bigger than most sushi places in the area! For a party of two we paid $30! That is hard to beat!

Sushi lunch
Cati B.

The lunch prices are great! We got a decent amount of food for a little over $30. I got the sushi lunch. Didn't really even read the description and it was really good! I love fresh sushi and this certainly hit the spot! I also added a side ginger salad because I'm an absolutely sucker for the ginger dressing at sushi places. It was a nice little lunch!

Hibachi Steak supposedly
Pablo O.

Food was very bland. What we were served for $38.00 for two togo was not Hibachi Style steak. And the rice vegetable and noodles were tasteless. Here is a picture

Small side of fried rice, tuna roll, monster roll (my favorite), rainbow roll

She provided amazing hospitality and her descriptions for the hand roll flight were immaculate. The food was amazing as well, really enjoyed the chutoro and otoro hand rolls and the seasonal black garlic tonkatsu. I love how affordable and approachable they put tuna belly on the menu, while you get to try a wide range of other usually expensive nigiri. The concept of diy hand rolls was really cute too. I thought the mentaiko udon could use a little more mentaiko tbh. But I loved the funky, almost sour cream sauce of the mentaiko. Good strong garlic flavor comes through as well. Vibes were immaculate, love the hanging lanterns and aesthetic of the restaurant. The open concept was cool if you sit at the bar and watch the sushi chefs. I love the projector displaying scenes from anime as well. They even have a Vero water filter which costs like $5K. Can't wait to come back again on an empty stomach and try more.

The rating is closer to 3.5 than 4 stars…read more Food - the sushi rolls are pretty good. The chicken yakitori tastes better than the steak one which surprisingly costs $9 for one stick. The street corn tastes good, but I wish it were corn off the cob. Service - needs improvement. Service is very slow even though it's not that busy. It took a while to get our drinks, to place our order and get our food.

The server was nice, got our drink orders, and then came back for our entree orders. I love their soup here, super simple, but super delicious. When we ordered our entrees we noticed on the kid's menu they don't offer combos like they do on the adult menu. My kiddo had a hankering for both chicken and steak, so we ordered him the steak, I got the steak and chicken and gave him my chicken, and my husband got the steak and chicken. So typically when we've come here we love the food and the entertainment of having a hibachi chef. They normally make it really interactive and fun, this time around was a different story. Our hibachi chef was pretty lackluster, no throwing the egg, no funny quips about the rice or veggies. It wasn't really dinner and a show. One of my favorite items is the Japanese fried rice, because I like the crispy bits you get when it's cooked on the hibachi....no crispy bits. The steak was cooked perfectly, the chicken was flavorful, but disappointed in the lack of show and the rice this time around. I'm hoping this is a one off.

My waiter was super wonderful and answered my questions about the custom sushi options. I am not a fan of sushi with cream cheese, avocado, or cucumber (and most places have one or the other in most rolls). I appreciated that I could make the sushi my own. Not pictured here was a salmon roll topped with salmon roe (I call it mother and child lol). The eel was also delicious, and I can't wait to return for a visit one day.

We decided to try somewhere new last Saturday night and were told about a 30-minute wait, which is usually a good sign as the place was packed. They took our number and texted us about 20 minutes later when two seats opened at the hibachi bar. Grabbing those seats was the best decision we made as we were entertained by both the hibachi chefs and the sushi station all night. The chefs were interactive, friendly, and clearly skilled at what they do. Our waitress, Jennifer, was absolutely on point, accommodating, polite, and happy to offer recommendations that did not disappoint. We ordered the shrimp tempura, bagel roll, and spider roll for sushi, along with the shrimp and steak hibachi, which she thoughtfully split onto two plates for us without even being asked. The sushi arrived first, beautifully presented, fresh, and full of flavor. Soup and salad followed, then the hibachi entrée , all timed perfectly so we never felt rushed or overcrowded with dishes. The shrimp was fresh, the steak cooked perfectly, and the fried rice seasoned just right with herbs and spices that complemented the entire meal. Every part of the experience flowed from start to finish. A return visit is already in the works this month. Highly recommend this spot and major thanks to the employees for being at the top of their game! Truly a 5 star experience.
