The hostess even checked with the Chef weeks before I made a reservation to ask if they could accommodate me because I have Celiac Disease (I highly recommend calling beforehand). She also gave me directions to the restaurant because it was in a plaza and I wasn't from the area and didn't want to be late. The omakase experience here and the sake tasting was fantastic. Every dish was so precisely made and plated and we got tonwatch it all from the Chef'scounter. We were given explanations for everything we had that night and they made everything gluten-free because two of us that night were gluten-free. The omakase is in the back of the restaurant as well sectioned off from the main restaurant and bar. The space is beautiful and it even has and outdoors seating area with a large (maybe fake) Sakura tree. They made my birthday dinner very special and I appreciated that a lot. The sake tasting was also just as fantastic. The sommolier explained every sake and even let me take a quick photo of the bottle so I would be able to remember it. We came here for my husband's birthday and a late Mother's Day dinner. I've been wanting to try the Omakase tasting experience but figured we would try the dining room first. I made a reservation and we arrived on time. We stood in the front awkwardly for about 10 minutes while the host and the host that she was training bickered about where they were going to seat us. The manager caught onto what was happening and did offer us a starter to compensate for that, which was nice. Unfortunately the service still felt lacking throughout. I saw my drink sit at the bar for quite a while while my husband sipped his beer. The server was super sweet, but not as attentive as I'd expect especially since it wasn't busy. The fish tasted fresh and mostly everything was really good. My favorites were the drama queen roll, the blood orange akami, and the truffle unagi roll. I wouldn't get the truffle enoki mushrooms again- the texture was off (chewy/stringy). The cocktail I got was the nori margarita and didn't feel it was anything special. The glass and straw it was served in was kind of throwing it off for me. I'd go a different drink route next time. I liked the vibe of the restaurant and felt like the ambience was great for date night. It had a sexy feel. I wish there was music or if there was I didn't notice it, because I could hear everything the table next to me was saying. They also brought a refreshing treat for my husband's birthday. It has been 6 years since going to the original Norikase, which used to be behind Bento. The Pearl Hospitality Group has since transformed the Bento space into a beautiful high end Japanese Restaurant. The service was excellent and the server had great knowledge about all menu items. For starters we ordered the Coconut King Salmon and the Popping Tuna. Both were delicious but the Coconut King Salmon was my favorite due to its uniqueness! For rolls we ordered The Luxury Roll, Drama Queen, Salmon Maki Roll (HH Menu) and Spicy Tuna Maki Roll (HH Menu). I would order all of them again. I went to Norikase with high expectations and had a mixed experience overall. We started with the Kinsei and Don't Break My Heart cocktails, and both were very good -- well balanced and enjoyable. The karaage was also really delicious; crispy, flavorful, and one of the standout dishes of the night. Unfortunately, my dining partner couldn't have any due to a mushroom allergy and the risk of cross contamination in the fryer. They did accommodate us by preparing the hamachi nabe without mushrooms, and for the Luxury Roll they replaced the truffle blue crab with their spicy blue crab to account for the allergy, which was appreciated. That said, the accommodations felt more like basic adjustments rather than going above and beyond, especially for a restaurant at this price point. Speaking of price, while the food was good, some of the pricing left me wondering why people would choose certain items without a special occasion. I can absolutely appreciate quality and creativity, but the value didn't fully match the cost for me. Overall, there were definite highlights, and I'm glad I tried Norikase, but between the allergy limitations and value concerns the experience didn't quite live up to expectations. read more

First off, Bri, our server, was FANTASTIC! She was super sweet and very attentive. The actual restaurant is very pretty on the inside and has an intimate atmosphere. The lighting inside is also super nice and warm. The only problem I had was with the Uni sashimi. The uni was very unpleasant tasting and turned into mush when I tried to pick it up to eat. It was quite unfortunate because I was excited to try it for the first time and was surprised that I didn't like the taste until I looked up what it was supposed to taste like and figured out that I got a bad batch. The Otoro sashimi, however, was delicious!! Super buttery and melted in my mouth. Overall the experience was great except for the Uni. :) read more

Unforgettable 1st Omakase experience to celebrate my 21st Birthday for the 10th time this year! Every course was a tiny work of art. Highlights for me: 9 different nigiri: melt-in-your-mouth and perfectly balanced. Seasonal sashimi flight, delicately sliced & tasted like the ocean in the best way. A warm, salmon, tomato & tamarind -packed miso broth served as last savory dish meal that refreshed the palate for the final bites. ( I however preferred the original mini soup without the touch of sinigang) The pacing was spot on: just enough time to savor each piece while still keeping the excitement for what was next. The chef (Francis I believe) explained the ingredients and origin of each fish with genuine enthusiasm, which added so much to the experience. This place was originally Bento but now had been transformed into modern Japanese sushi restaurant that strikes that sweet spot between upscale and intimate. Lighting was soft, the counter seating in the private room let us watch the precision knife work up close, and the background music stayed pleasantly low. For a birthday dinner, it felt like the perfect combination of luxury and warmth. Price wise, it's definitely a splurge, but every bite makes it worthwhile: Thanks to my hubby! Let me start out by saying that yes, I am a sushi and sake snob (amongst others). This is probably the best sushi place I have ever been to....amd that's saying a lot. The service is a 5 star and the food is Michelin star quality. I was not able to do the omakase (can't imagine how great that is cause my wife does not eat raw. Let's start with a $25 fee just for me bringing in my own cake. Then the server didn't even know that truffles were mushrooms which I am very allergic, not helpful in trying to find something I could eat. Don't even get me started on the mess of a checking out that occurred. After closing our tab and running our card they decide because they didn't ring up something correctly to then take longer with our card and refund what they charged then charge more on another check due to their error. We went to Norikase for a date night and it was amazing! We ordered the Salmon Yuzu plate as our entree. We also ordered Chu-toro nigiri, Japanese uni, popping tuna, truffle madai, Jalapeño Hamachi, and the edamame. The popping tuna was my favorite from what we ordered and also the chu-toro nigiri. We decided to have a spontaneous dinner on a random Friday evening. We were able to get seated within two minutes and I feel lucky as this place is normally very busy. We appreciated the free parking lot right outside the restaurant The ambience is classy and trendy. The interior is clean and modern, and our server was friendly, fun, and attentive, explaining everything in detail and going above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. We especially appreciated that the flavors were subtle and balanced, without heavy sauces like mayonnaise or excessive tempura flakes. The fish was fresh and top-notch. We were curious about the Joto sake, and our server kindly brought samples so we could try it first; we ended up really liking it. From the happy hour menu, we ordered beer, edamame, salmon maki roll, spicy maki roll, hamachi nigiri, chu-toro nigiri, and Brussels sprouts. The Sapporo beer was good, though we wished it had been colder and served in a chilled glass. The edamame was steamed, grilled, and coated with garlic and butter; delicious but heavy on garlic! The rolls (six pieces each) were good, and the Brussels sprouts were tasty with nori flakes, truffle oil, and apple slices. The standout, though, was the nigiri: fresh, simple, and truly delicious. Next time, we'd definitely order more of it. From the regular menu, we tried the miso soup, which was good but not the best we've had. The rice puffs in it were an interesting twist. We also ordered the Coconut King Salmon (six pieces instead of four from the happy hour menu at the same price per piece). It was fresh and flavorful, with the coconut cream enhancing rather than overpowering the salmon. We tried three rolls: the Luxury Roll, Aburi Sake Roll, and Surf & Turf Roll. All were good and come in 8 pieces, but the Luxury Roll was our favorite with its stronger wasabi kick. For dessert, we had the ice cream, matcha crème brûlée, and a special coconut panna cotta from the omakase menu which was on the house. All were excellent, especially the panna cotta with its unique, surprising flavors. A 20% service charge was added to the check as mentioned in the menu. It feels weird to order a rice bowl that is sub par compared to the elegant hamachi and otorro selections. My large group came for kanpai hour on a Friday night. The bites we ordered (spicy tuna roll and garlic butter edamame) were so delicous. The rosie mocktail and shots were delicious, as well. The bartenders really know what they're doing! I will say, I think the late night hours could benefit from a selection of cheaper pre-mixed drinks that they could quickly sling. The tables and chairs could also be reoriented to promote easier conversation between large friend groups. This is probably not the vibes the restaurant is going, but it would definitely encourage more late night group outings. I don't think I would come back with a large friend group as the restaurant vibes are better for a more intimate date night. I've heard from friends that the service can be slow during dinner, but since we were one of the only groups there at the time, the waiters were very attentive so no complaints there! read more

The appetizers were excellent--Brussels sprouts and karaage chicken to start, with the jalapeño hamachi being our favorite. We also loved the miso sea bass and the shiso affair roll. It was a quiet Thursday night, reservations weren't necessary, and the service was wonderful. They even surprised us with a complimentary birthday dessert, a unique sweet-and-sour sorbet. When the bill came around, there was a "20% service charge" already added. We were unsure if that was an already included tip, and asked just to double check.
