We descended upon Phil's for lunch, and while it was good, admittedly, it wasn't anything special... and certainly not 5 stars worthy. Don't get me wrong, the food was decent, but I didn't think it was worth the amount being charged for the items we ate. My husband ordered the Cubano sandwich ($17). I ordered a Chicken Club sandwich minus the bacon (also $17). For those prices, on the Cubano sandwich, the pieces of pork loin and ham were very thinly sliced. I would've been pissed had that been my sandwich. It was way too flat for my liking. When I bite into a sandwich, I want to taste AND SEE all the flavors there, and with that little amount of meat on there, I know I wouldn't have appreciated any of the pork or ham flavors. Plus, my hubby said there wasn't enough mayo or mustard, but that's easily remedied. Just ask for more of that... but they wouldn't give more meat, and THAT is a deal breaker. Anyway, on the Chicken Club, which is what I ordered, I expected to see more than 1 very thinly pounded piece of chicken, which didn't even cover over the bread it was placed on, and the chicken wasn't seasoned... like the menu said it would be. Thank goodness, I ordered extra aioli for additional flavor and moisture. They put plenty of arugula lettuce in the sandwich, which they tried to compensate for the lack of chicken that SHOULD have been there. There was a fair amount of avocado and tomato, though. Anyway, like I said, it was decent, but nothing to brag about... and not worth $17. We both requested their "Boss" salad as our side dish to the sandwiches. The salad came with tomato, red pepper and sliced almonds. I asked for their version of Ranch, which I didn't care for because it was heavy on dill. I wouldn't mark down for that, though; it's just not my personal preference. We also ordered their "starter" mac 'n cheese at $12. It was a decent size bowl, but $12 ? I dunno. What irked me about the mac 'n cheese was that for the three types of cheeses, those were totally lost in the soup-like texture we got. It said "creamy" mozzarella and cheddar cheese "sauce," but it was so soupy, almost as thin as milk... just way too much of whatever was causing it to be so thin. Unfortunately, because it was so thin, we couldn't really taste the cheesiness, especially since they also claimed there was parmesan cheese in it. That's a strong cheese, as cheddar cheese can be, but I don't know... this just failed with epic proportions. The only aspect carrying any appreciable flavor were the toasted panko crumbs, but those got lost in all the liquid floating around. This was a huge miss for us. We also ordered one of their desserts, limoncello brulle. I certainly appreciate their creativity in taking lemon curd and torching it a bit to give that crackly brulee shell on the top of it. It came with a little whipped cream, 4 fresh blueberries with a tiny amount of blueberry liquid, but it was NOT a true "compote," as the menu suggested. I liked the flavor of the lemon curd, but the compote was a big miss for me, and this dish was not worth $12. Maybe dinnertime is another story at this place... lots of 5 star reviews, but neither my husband nor I found anything about our lunch to be 5-star worthy, not even 4 stars. Decided on a whim to finally try Phil's for lunch this past Saturday. We parked in the back and walked right in to the bar area. We were greeted by the bartender and after deciding that we wanted to sit at a table in this side of the restaurant, he also became our server. The atmosphere was nice and casual on this side...we didn't get a chance to see the other side but figured it may be more for dinner. My fiancé started with a cocktail called The Sawyer and I had a good ole Pepsi. We started with the homemade meatballs which was absolutely delicious! Just what we had hoped for...cheesy with good homemade marinara. We then ordered The Bernard and the Philly Steakadilla. The burger was cooked perfectly...juicy and flavorful with a nice charbroiled taste on the edges. It was served on top of a ginormous wedged lettuce which was probably enough to make a side salad lol! The Steakadilla was also good but could have maybe used jalapeños or some type of salsa/sour cream on the side. Now the tater tots...we'll these were cooked perfectly crisp! Glad to say we definitely found a hidden gem! Had a great lunch with awesome service with a great atmosphere. Can't wait to return for dinner!!! read more

Phil's is a fabulous find! The food is delicious, service is attentive but not intrusive. I had the roast chicken and crispy spinach, ridiculously good. Hubs had the steak and fries, cooked to perfection, seasoned just right. The chicken takes a little longer to make, so get yourself an appetizer, the time will pass quickly. Staff is always great and we love its walking distance to home. We've now done the brunch 3 times and it's been consistent. But the food is really not great. The potatoes are dry and have no flavor. The streak and eggs are similar. Breakfast burrito was also dry and needed more sauce. Chicken and waffles were not great. Waffle was rubbery and the chicken was pounded super thin and overcooked. The cinnamon roll also needs some reworking as well as it was drier than the potatoes. Dont want to be overly critical but I'd want to know if it was my place. To be completely honest, the bottomless mimosa makes up for it and we'll still go since the price can't be beat. I just wish the food was better. read more

Came in to the bar to watch the baseball game. They did not have the sound on so we decided to leave. The waiter AND Phil stopped us in the parking lot. Said they would put on the sound and even put on the big TV in the dining room. They were so accommodating. We stayed for the game and ordered tots, brussel sprouts and the wedge salad. Tried this place out last week with my MIL for a girls' day. We were drawn in by the Yelp reviews and pictures of the food. Esthetically this place is really nice. Two separate rooms, dining and bar, two different vibes and very nice. We sat down quickly. No one else was there at 1pm on a Saturday, not a great sign. Waitress was very nice, as was the host in the bar. Upon sitting down, the waitress came over to greet us and remove unneeded wine glass settings and plates. Upon picking up a wine glass, she noticed something stuck on the rim and proceeded to try to scrape it off with her nail and then placed it back on the table as one of our 2 glasses. No wine for us, please. We asked some questions, and they answered, and the waitress made some recommendations. We ordered a variety of things to try, and here's what we thought. Brussel sprouts- nice dish, collectively our favorite maybe 4 out of 5 Chili cheese fries- these were ok. Chili is the chucky/ watery kind so the bottom of the fries were dripping wet. 3 out of 5 Schnitzel- this was a pretty dish but the flavor of the chicken wasn't great. Almost had an unusual sour undertone Pappardelle- noodles were a nice consistency 5 out of 5 but the rest of the dish lacked flavor. Sauce was not appealing. Overall 2.75 out of 5 We decided to have dessert later in our day as nothing we had impressed us here, and the prices all around were a bit high. Nothing that will bring me back here, but nothing so off-putting I would tell others to stay away. I went back and forth on rating. Realistically, I'd give it a 2.74 but round up to be fair. We showed up to Phil's after a long drive from the bay area -- I chose here because we had our dog with us and they were nice enough to accommodate. The staff was so sweet to our doggie and even gave her a bowl of water. We order the stroganoff, brussels sprouts, clam chowder, and the meatballs. It is rare when we go to a Resteraunt and the experience leaves us feeling great and satisfied. This is our second time and we wanted a quick bite while checking out the Rams game in the bar. The bar tender was so friendly and chill that I suspected he was Phil. Doesn't matter. We ordered a beer, sliders and onion rings. The sliders tasted like they were grilled on a barbecue had a fried pickle on them and they tasted so good. The onion rings were also cooked perfectly, crispy and the dipping sauce also perfect. Everything about Phil's is fantastic. I usually visit the bar area in back which has a really great vibe. The service is top notch and the food & cocktails are always on point. They have a really wonderful Happy Hour here too. One of things that makes this place stand out from the rest is that the owner Phil is usually on the premises and he actually takes the time to stop and say hi to his customers. This place is super cool. It has two different aesthetics and vibes. The front dining room is more traditional; 1950s music is playing and it's more classy. The rear dining room has a bar, modern music, a completely different look and is a great place to catch up with friends where you can be loud. This place is a winner in terms of having what you need. The food options are great. Both parts of the restaurant serve the same meals and drinks. Everything that I had was tasty. I did want my steak more rare, and it came more medium-well done. This review is only for Happy Hour, as we didn't sit in the restaurant proper and order dinner. We still had a great time, though!! When we walked in the front door (on TO Blvd), it seemed a bit dead inside and we asked someone if there's happy hour throughout; she kindly directed us through the restaurant, down a short hallway, and into the bar area. It was already hoppin' in there and we grabbed a couple of the last remaining seats at the bar (at 4:30 or so on a Friday!). There is an entrance to the bar from a private lot in the back on the spot, where the regulars obviously know to come in, so no need to walk through the restaurant. Next time =) We had a few different bartenders help us out as we ordered a variety of beverages and snacks. Well drinks are $5 during HH, a "Cosmo Martini" is $8, Onion Rings are $7, Wings (a few large wings, with both flats and drums connected) are $8, Fried Pickles are $6, and Sliders are $8 (get them lettuce-wrapped for your keto needs!). Cheap night, fun and friendly bartenders, good music, sports on the TV--what more to ask for? Maybe closer to our house, lol! Try it out! Came here for dinner with a coworker and let's just say it was not a great choice. The concept of this restaurant is really weird to say the least. The front is a restaurant and the back has a bar type set up. My coworker decided on the bar so we got a table there. The server was completely aloof and didn't come ask us what we wanted for like 15 mins. In addition, once we ordered the food came out extremely slow and cold. She also forgot to even give us our waters. The burger that I got was mediocre at best and we also got some wings and they were not good at all. I was so excited to go here and maybe dinner is awesome but they need to work on the brunch items we got. French toast was mushy & nothing much. The Mexican egg dish my daughter got was unremarkable and she said it tasted like tomato sauce rather than salsa. We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident and we couldn't be happier. When we arrived the place was packed. We spoke to the hostess to decide if we wanted to stay or go. Upon her answering our questions of what are they were know for and her answer was plentiful, we decided to stay. I had a difficult time deciding because the menu had so many options. I had the Philly Cheese Steakadilla. It was melt in your mouth delicious along with a salad that was topped with the best blue cheese dressing ever. My friend had the Cuban sandwich and said it was delicious. We shared dessert, Apple cobbler all I can say is . The staff was very happy and attentive. Chef Dominic even comes out to speak with you.
