They wanted to charge me 45$ for dilation that is within the eye exam, and when I called my insurance they told me it is covered. I called Dr. Van's office again. I spoke to Kim(at front desk) who previously said I have to pay the 45$ that I called my insurance and they told me it is covered. She said "it is up to you, you don't have to pay it". Be careful guys and know what is covered and what is not before paying any penny. read more

Dr. Phan is wonderful! I was told that I had large optic nerves elsewhere- which can be a sign of glaucoma -so I had a lot of questions for the doc. He took his time, gave me a thorough exam, and set my mind at ease. I took my two kids to Dr. Phan. He was very thorough and explained everything in language we all understood. We ended up with glasses for both kids and contacts for my 11 year old son who plays baseball. Marilyn took care of all the paperwork seamlessly and even sat down with my son for a good 20 minutes or so until he had gotten the hang of putting in and removing his contacts. I called this morning to make an appointment for my boyfriend to get an eye exam and new prescription. His appointment was 2pm and that is when we arrived. Upon entering, we were greeted with two big smiles from Dr. Phan and Kim. We filled out the paperwork which only took a few minutes. Afterwards, my boyfriend got his eyes examined by the doctor who was polite, knowledgeable, and friendly. The whole process took around 30 minutes from the moment we stepped in to the moment my boyfriend got his new prescription glasses. Dr Pham is great. My son got the Ortho k contacts that he wears at night and has clear vision during the day without wearing anything. My son's vision was getting really bad and the Ortho k contact will slow down this process. Dr Pham was very patience in working with my son from instructing him on the process to adjusting to get the proper prescription and fit. Dr. Phan and his staff are so nice and personable! I went in last week for a contact lens exam (without vision insurance) and it was $69 which is very affordable. I have had contacts in the past so I already knew how to put them in. During the exam Dr. Phan explained what each test was for. He disinfected all of the machines right before I used them. He told me I had borderline astigmatism and that I can try out regular contact lenses OR the ones for astigmatism. He told me that the regular ones will be more hazy and they won't be as clear. I decided to test them out anyways. Well he was right, the regular contacts were too blurry while driving at night! I went back the next morning and we tested out the contacts for astigmatism and my vision was so clear!! I paid $20 extra dollars which was to be expected since it was new contacts with astigmatism. I've been to Dr. Phan's Office 2 times. The receptionist and the other optometrist and Dr. Phan are so friendly and vibrant. There is a huge variety of frames for you glasses to pick from. And when Dr. Phan is checking your eyes in the optometrist room, he plays a game with you called 1 or 2, where there's two lenses and there's a screen where he asks " which lense is better 1 or 2?"
