I was going to buy their living social coupon but when I went to make an appointment they wanted to charge me an extra $10 "Co Pay" for the eye exam. Talk about a marketing scam! The coupon clearly says $23 for an eye exam and $160 credit towards a pair of glasses. I hate going to the optometrist. I'm literally blind and it's so frustrating when your optometrist pushes you to see things that you can not. This was not the case at all at Dr. Phan's he was an extremely welcoming and wonderful optometrist. I actually bought a groupon and called within the hour I bought it and was told I can come on in, I was helped promptly. I was given the normal text in the beginning, the puff of air and the blurry imagine that goes clear. Once those were done I was sat into the chair and Dr.Phan said take a "deep breath and relax, this is a game and you're here to have fun" I chucked to my self as I'm not a 5 year old but still it was an endearing jester. About 5 minutes go by and he brought some trails for me to try on and I popped them right in and was asked to look at the board again. It was great he gave me multiple options of contacts and made sure I was comfortable with the pair he gave me. I especially enjoyed the fact that he was not pushy towards buying other things at his office. I actually did see a pair of glasses that I liked and he still didn't push me and actually asked me what I was looking for. I told him and he said he could order them and I can check them out before buying, but I fell in love with the first pair. I ended up buying them and a even better perk of finding a great pair of glasses the frames were 1/2 off and would be delivered in less than a week! Great and informative. Very friendly small little self operated Optometry place. Unlike those big corporate ran places Dr Phan is not gonna try to upsell you. He was both informative and easy to talk to. He didn't try to upsell me on glasses or anything. Best thing is that they dont try to rip you off on contact lens exams like everywhere else nowadays. Most places charge from min 100 to 200 when you want to have a check up and update your contact lens prescription. This is ridiculous considering the fact that I've been wearing contacts for over 20+ years and the examination for the contact lenses has not changed at all. These places over charging are just making the money back from people buying lenses online. But if they cant match the prices then dont blame the customer/patient for trying to save money. They are actually taking advantage of the laws regulating eye health and charging more for a service that has not changed. I know that because i have been having my eye exams regularly for 20+ years. Thats why I totally recommend Dr Phan, he had a groupon deal but I called and they worked with me and gave me a great deal for the total eye exam and "contact lens" exam, total cost was only $65. I purchased a Social Living voucher for a contact lens exam with Dr. Phan on a Friday. My appointment was at 3:00 p.m. I arrived early and filled out the one page questionnaire. I was seen immediately by Dr. Phan. Dr. Phan and his staff are very professional, friendly and helpful. Scheduling the appointment was easy, I didn't have to wait at all to be seen and my entire experience was pleasant. Dr. Phan has all the state of the art equipment and his specialty is fitting his patients with the right, comfortable contact lenses. I went through a series of tests and was provided an updated prescription. He didn't pressure sell me into more procedures or to purchase contact lens. The fee to get a eye glass or contact lens exam is very competitive - actually lower than Costco and Walmart! First off let me say that dr. Phan is hands down the best. I got personally recommend to him by a coworker. I suffer from Keratoconus which is a very ugly eye condition that I practically can't see nothing. Previous drs have never gave me hope and kinda just brush me off. When I say I couldn't see nothing I MEAN NOTHING and it was worst at night. God only knows how I use to get home. My anxiety would get so bad because I couldn't see. Thankfully I found my way to dr. Phans office and he did what I call a miracle. He took his time with me and gave me a better understanding of my condition. I called in yesterday and spoke to the office staff about purchasing the groupon and coming in for an exam and to purchase contacts. I informed them I'm leaving the country in a week and that I needed the exam done ASAP. They informed the doctor was out for a conference but that I could bring in my old prescription and I could purchase contacts in the meantime. Their hours are listed as open at 11:00am.. mind you I live all the way in Rancho Cucamonga so the drive to their office was not a short one. I came here for an eye exam because my eye was red for a couple of days. I called to make an appointment and Dr. Phan was able to schedule me in right away. I did not have insurance and my exam was $50. This included the exam as well as any follow up check ups. Other places were charging me around $100 for just a check up with no insurance and some places charged more because I was going to go in without a called ahead appointment. I went in and he greeted me by name. It's always a good feeling and gives the customer a sense that you actually care about them when they make that extra effort. He was very professional throughout the whole exam. All of the equipment and office space was nice and clean. I went on Thursday evening, I had an appointment at 6:30pm. I signed into the computer & filled out some paperwork. It took me about 5 min to fill everything in when the dr called me in. When he was checking my eyes out, he was very professional. Making jokes and being funny. He made it easy by his humor and knowledge. We spoke about how awesome his Groupon deal was. Yay for insurance! My new job came with insurance for both my husband and I. I did not know what company the insurance was through (VSP, MES???..... uhh...) but she said not to worry and quickly found it in the system. While Dr. Phan was checking one of our eyes, the female receptionist helped us look for frames. I was not planning on getting glasses for myself so I had contacts in. They gave me a trial size solution and contact lens to place my lens in so I could get tested as well. Every single darn time we come here, they are ALWAYS so friendly and nice. Dr. Phan has been the only eye doctor that I have seen since my first eye exam at 5 years old. My family and I have been seeing him for 20+ years and have never been more satisfied with the experience and knowledge he has as a health professional. He has a very good bedside manner in which he explains in details what he's doing and why. All of his machines and tools are very up to date with today's technology and he always provides a very accurate prescription for proper vision. The best part about his eye exams are that he does not use the air puff machine. He has a newer machine that does the same thing without shooting air. I recently got fed up the need to always have my reading glasses to view almost everything, so on a whim I contacted Dr. Van Phan's office and they got me in for an appointment that very same day! The doctor and his staff were extremely friendly and helpful. For an additional fee they will also have someone sit with you one-on-one to teach you how to apply and remove the contacts. They're so nice and professional. I was getting eye contacts and they were so fast and accurate. I've never been in and out this quick for a product I needed so badly. For one, my eye site was so quickly assessed, and another thing is they had my preferred brand and also in my prescription so I was able to go home with a new pair in my eyes! I've always had to wait til they came in the mail in my past experience so I was elated.
