He is one of the most honest and calm doctors I know. He explains his patients' conditions clearly and provides helpful guidance. You can truly trust him. Just found out that his front desk lost one of the tests that they ordered. I had to call over eight times to get a simple answer to a medical question. I just also found out that they forgot to tell me I had abnormal blood work three months ago. I can't deal with this front desk anymore. Their incompetence is going to ki11 someone. I thought the other reviews saying they were the worst front desk in Los Angeles were not true but... It's true. read more

Dr. Banooni is the best. He provides the most amazing care and truly goes above and beyond for his patients. He is extremely kind and professional. Whenever I leave his office, I do so with a peaceful mind. He has the best bedside manner and a beautiful heart. His staff is so friendly, professional , and accommodating. Thank you for always taking great care of me, Doctor. I'm so grateful. If you want the best experience with an honest and knowledgeable doctor, I guarantee you'll be super happy going to him. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a gynecologist in Los Angeles or Beverly Hills. read more

If you are going to have a baby Dr. Banooni is the doctor you should have in your corner. He is gentle and understanding and patient with you. His experience and calm demeanor through the whole process lets you know you are in good hands.I loved him as my doctor and cedars Sinai hospital was amazing. The office was always able to help with setting up my appointments and friendly. Sometimes there was a little wait to see the doctor that's because he takes his time talking to each patient but totally worth it. read more

The doctor himself is stellar. His office staff is the worst I've ever encountered. Beyond the number of times I had to wait 1 hour+ for appointments without communication or apology, they messed up labs and billing every single time. I have had to repeat labs because they've messed up the orders. They were also aware we were planning to start a family as we kept coming in for testing, but waited until I informed them I was pregnant that they were dropping my insurance the following month. In addition to that, they never properly billed my insurance for genetic testing nor responded to follow ups so the claim was denied. Instead of resolving this claim, they wrote it off instead, and never reached out to me. Since, they have since been unresponsive. I am still dealing with the headache (dating since last May) between my insurance and genetic testing company. It's such a shame because Dr. Banooni is a skilled, kind, and compassionate doctor. However, the stress and unnecessary caused by his office severely outweighs how great he is. read more

Not good about returning calls. Charged me out of pocket for an ultrasound with an outdated machine that couldn't detect the issue. Went in for a second opinion elsewhere and got it taken care of within minutes. Very upset about the ultrasound charge. Never got the promised return calls. read more

Don't waste your time! Made an appointment, pregnant, filled out all the paperwork the day before and arrive 15 min early. I'm told the wait would be an hour or probably more because there were two people ahead of me and the doc is waiting to see if he needs to deliver a baby. This way this was told to me was as if it was totally normal to make someone wait almost two hours! Office is dirty, messy and outdated. No thanks! read more

Both the 1 star and 5 star reviews are accurate. Dr Banooni himself has very nice bedside manner, is seemingly very caring, skilled, and knowledgeable. The problem started even before the appointment. I filled out pre-appointment form online that was apparently lost (with all my private health information), so when I got there, I had to fill it out again. Not a huge deal but this was an early indication of the disorganization at the admin side. After the appointment, I got a blood draw and actually got another draw the following month so I became pretty familiar with how this goes. I was told the lab results will be available the following week but after checking on daily basis at the online portal, and calling the office several times, I learned I needed to get a follow up telephone appt with the doctor in order for the labs to be released to me. I was used to how Cedars and UCLA visits work, where they are available same day or the next day, even without talking to doctor, so this was frustrating to me that it took 2 weeks when I was so anxious to get the results. The telephone appt also kept getting pushed back both times, it was many days and hours later than what was originally promised. It's very apparent that the doctor is very busy and he is spreading himself too thin. read more

One of the worst front offices I have EVER dealt with. If you want to deal with absolutely rude and clueless people then this is ur doctors office. They are so rude at the front office. It doesn't matter that he is a great doctor because his front office is focused on destroying his reputation. One of the worst doctor offices I've been too. They canceled my appt three times and one of the times they did not even tell me and blamed it on a computer error which I know was false. The front office is so insanely rude and act like you are bothering them for anything. The front lady is so passive aggressive and rude!!. I finally get to my appt and they say they don't take my insurance. I told them many times my insurance hasn't changed and what it was and when I get to my appt finally after they delayed me three times she tells me I'm not covered when I am. I called my insurance and they called on my behalf to tell them that my insurance is still empire but under the new name. At this point it doesn't matter that he is a great doctor. His office is ruining his reputation and make it impossible to see him. So incredibly disappointed in Dr banooni for allowing his office to be run by rude, inept people. Dr banooni you need to change your front office because they are destroying your reputation and your practice. I wish I could give this doctors office zero stars. read more

Unfortunately have to join the others here, this probably was the biggest rip off in my medical history I've ever experienced. Booked my apt via Zoc Doc for a follow up apt for my Pap smear result. My doctor in NYC suggested I make a biopsy if I wanted to be sure and rule out everything. My health insurance was listed as in-network online and during check in I was also informed that everything was set. After waiting for 20 minutes I overheard front desk talking that I'm out of network. I had to walk up myself to confirm this, and they informed me I should still see the doc for a consultation and they would be able to give me a discount. I spoke no more than 5 minutes with the doctor, he sort of dismissively advised against the biopsy and then I basically answered all the questions I had already submitted before checking in. This 5 minute chat cost me $550, thought I didn't hear right. No exam, no biopsy, just a 5 min conversation that left me with no additional insight or information. The American health care system is broken, and an office like this is a reason why as they are enabling it by not being transparent and lying online about their coverage. Real shambles. read more

Dr. Banooni is an outstanding doctor. He is professional and will make you feel more than comfortable. I'd truly recommend him to anyone especially if you have not had good experiences with past OBGYNS he will change the doubt you have! I would give less than 1 star if I could. Do NOT go to the practice. The front desk office is rude and incompetent. I have never called and not been on hold for over 20 min. You have to chase them for test results and prescriptions and when I was dealing with a chronic condition the Dr. was not helpful. read more

Doctor: Excellent. Front Desk: Worst in the City This office, long known for its haphazard front desk, has deteriorated to such an extent as to make choosing its doctors a gamble. The patient's time is worth nothing; a receptionist's promise to call, follow up, or communicate a message, worth nothing. Dr. Banooni is ill-served by his front desk. You will be too. read more

I have been under the care of Dr Banooni for the last 5+ years. He is the best doctor I have ever had. Not only is he a fantastic OBGYN and helped me achieve the exact labor I wanted when delivering my child - he has also picked up on other health issues not OBGYN related that no other doctor ever picked up. As a hypochondriac he always puts me at ease and I always feel comfortable asking my sometimes very long lists of questions. I couldn't recommend him more. I don't understand the negative reviews about sometimes having to wait - if you're seeing a doctor who delivers babies that of course can happen on occasion. But don't you expect your OBGYN to be available to you when you're in labor? I have had countless appts at this office and maybe had to wait twice and not for very long at all. I have also had only wonderful experiences with the front desk staff and nurses. I am forever grateful to Dr Banooni and his staff for the incredible support and care I have received from them and couldn't recommend this practise more. read more

Dr. Banooni himself is kind and competent, but I have strong objections to his administrative and billing practices. My wife and I paid a bill through our insurer's payment page and yet continued to receive constant text messages, emails, and letters from Dr. Banooni's offic seeking to collect that same payment. I contacted Dr. Banooni's office repeatedly and on multiple occasions provided them with receipts showing proof of payment. Yet we have continued to receive harassing messages about a bill we have already paid. Dr. Banooni also frequently double books appointments, leading to waits in excess of an hour even for scheduled appointments. If you are a couple expecting a baby, this means that routine scans can become ordeals that eat up half or your day, even though you may only spend 10 to 15 minutes with Banooni himself. read more

I love Dr. Banooni. He delivered two of my daughters! Every time I go in for my annual, he chats with me about his kids while giving me a Pap smear, making the whole thing much more comfortable! I hate doctor bashing... especially since once I got past the front desk to see him, he was a very nice guy. I wont go into longwinded detailed stories, but here are my bullet points for switching... I wish someone had warned me before I went to his office... -Front desk nurse Rachel: rude and dismissive -Scheduled appointment: Lost/ assigned wrong twice -Appointment email reminder system glitchy/ doesn't work and Rachel refused to manually send an email confirmation until I repeated badgered her and reminded her that twice my appointment has been screwed up. -Average wait time to see Banooni WITH appt: 45-60min. This doesnt include me coming 10 minutes early to my appointments. -Wait time to give a drop in urine sample: 20 min. In all fairness they told me to wait for approval to pee and then forgot about me after I asked them twice to let me leave a sample because I was running late for work. -Urine sample station: filthy and unsanitary. I will included a photo later. -Parking: crowded and expensive, but i suppose this is not that abnormal for the area. read more

I have always been hesitant to see a male doctor, and after 20 years finally decided to see one given all the reviews I read and availability. I have to say Dr. Banooni is by far the best OBGYN I've ever had! Not only is he very knowledgeable but, he also took his time with me to explain things and addressed all of my concerns. Since Dr. Banooni's name is on the bill (I was seen by Dr. Melissa guiterrez) then he gets the yelp review. I went in because I was experiencing bleeding and pain from fibroids. It wasn't life threatening but I went in for some advice expecting to be put on tbe pill for some hormone regulation (I just turned 40 and otherwise in good health, go dancing a few x a week and don't need any meds for anything). Within less than 2 minutes of seating down Dr. Guiterrez suggested a hysterectomy. After seeing my reaction (horrified face of a person who had no intention of entertaining the idea) she suggested an IUD. I told her I would think about it because although I liked the idea there was no way in HELL I would ever let this woman touch me. The office gave me the forms which I threw in my car as I fled never to return. A few weeks later they called to say that the IUD is in. I told the receptionist she better not charge me for it because I never ordered it!!!!!!!!!! She said she'll try to return it. I told her I don't care what she does with it but she can't bill me for it. She said it's fine because the insurance pretty much pays for it. What the hell does that mean?? Now I'm trying to get a copy of the bill to see what they charged me for Find someone else. They are all terrible. read more

DO. NOT. GO. HERE. I will start by saying that Dr. Banooni is an incredibly professional, pleasant, and helpful doctor and I appreciated his bedside manner. However, allow me to review the rest of the office. I First of all, the girl who works the front desk is hands down the most rude and unprofessional customer service figure I have met working in a medical office in my entire life. She's seemingly always in a bad mood, unhelpful, and as the person doing scheduling and communicating with patients, makes the entire office seem like a madhouse with no organization and an absolute joke. For my first appointment I waited 45 minutes in an empty waiting room. I went in for some std testing and a routine annual Pap smear and received the results a week later than I was told they would be ready (2 weeks total of waiting). I wish I had gone to a free clinic that gets the results to you in a few days. Okay. Whatever. I was told I needed to make a second appointment, but they were booked out for weeks. Okay. Inconvenient and unsettling, but not the fault of the office. I went in today for the follow up appointment that I've waited weeks for AFTER waiting weeks for the test results, and what do I get told at the front desk when I walk in? That my appointment has been cancelled. The girl says "are you (my name)? I called you three times yesterday, your appointment's cancelled. We don't see people at this time." First of all, then why did someone from YOUR office schedule me at that time? I have had some phone issues and calls have not been coming through. She didn't leave one voicemail. When I asked why didn't she email me, don't they have my email on file? She said "oh yeah, we do". I am FUMING. I took work off to come to this appointment. I am absolutely floored at the gross incompetence and display of unprofessionalism I have seen at this office. I absolutely will never be returning. Do not waste your time and energy here. Go ANYWHERE else. read more

This review is written in anger and frustration. Frustration because Dr. Banooni is actually an excellent gynecologist: calm, kind, patient, thorough, and insightful. I swore I would never see a male GYN again - and then he gave them back their good name. BUT - when I called to schedule today's appointment, I told the office my insurance had changed. They assured me he took Blue Cross. I was so pleased that I didn't have to find a new doctor for all those highly personal questions, (Can I get an amen, sisters?) This morning I got up to the office window and handed the nurse my new card. "Oh, he doesn't take the HMO," she said. WTF??? They couldn't think to ask me "HMO or PPO?" when I was scheduling the appointment? I was furious. And yes, I even made a scene - just for my own satisfaction, as I knew there was no negotiation possible. In conclusion: Good doctor. LOUSY office. read more

I'm writing this as I sit here 50 minutes past my appoint the time and have yet to even get an update on when he will arrive to the office. This is my 3rd visit, and I've had the same experience every time. The first time I showed up for my first visit at the 8:30am appt time only to be told that "oh, he isn't here and won't be in until 10:30am." Then why did no one call me to cancel? The receptionist just shrugged her shoulders while also telling me they don't validate parking. So I left, paid $10 minimum parking fee and rescheduled for a few days later. My second visit I actually got to see the doctor but that was after waiting for over an hour. Dr Banooni was fine - I was happy with his care. That said, I was surprised to get a bill for almost $600 plus a separate bill for lab costs. An initial visit costs $350, and the rest of the charges were incorrectly submitted to my insurance provider which is why it wasn't covered. Still trying to figure that out with the doctors office staff....we'll see what happens. Additionally, no one ever called me about my lab results - I had to call them twice to try and get someone to give me an answer. They're response: "hmmm that's strange." Now I sit here still waiting for the doctor (now 1 hour past my spot time), when all I came in for is a follow up and a prescription....side note: I called the office today 2 hours before my appointment to confirm the time in order to prevent this delay AGAIN. Yet here I sit.....waiting. Very disappointed in Dr. Banooni's office management. My time is valuable too but it's clear that no one here respects that. read more

I have never, ever met someone in any field, like Dr. Banooni. To the reviewer below who had to deal with his previous receptionist, I get it. She was terrible. She is gone. Dr. Banooni is incredibly patient, understanding, and most importantly, has the most unbelievable bedside manner of any doctor in the world. My husband even looked forward to our appointments. I had a relatively easy pregnancy health-wise, but had terrible anxiety about the birth, the scheduled c-section (for medical reasons), and being a Mom in general. Dr. Banooni got me through what I hope to be the hardest 9 months of my life physicologically. During my delivery, he was calm, funny, and just knew how to take care of me. His follow up is amazing, he returns calls promptly, and he gives you all of the time that you need during appointments. This may be why he isn't always running on time, but when you need the time, he gives it to you. Heaven forbid if Dr. Banooni ever left LA, or the state of CA, or this planet, I would travel to the ends of the earth to go to him for my "girl" needs. He is truly out of this world. read more

Dr. Banooni is one of the best. The problem I have is with their receptionists. I am still on hold waiting for them to pick up and it's been 15 minutes already. I have not been able to get an appointment because the receptionists are hoping you just give up. They don't want to be bothered apparently. It does not matter what time of day it is, either. They need a better system. I see many different doctors, and I never, ever have to wait that long to get to make a FREAKING APPOINTMENT. FINALLY I get an answer. Twenty five minutes later. read more

FIRST ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU READ ALL REVIEWS ON YELP. IF I READ THE REVIEWS PRIOR TO MY VISIT TO DR. BANOONI I WOULD NOT BE WRITING THIS NOW. If you are a woman of color RUN FAR FAR AWAY or if you remotely care about a doctor who puts your health over his ability to charge you for unnecessary medical procedures or if you enjoy piss poor follow up this office is not for you. I made my appointment and specifically asked if they took CIGNA PPO, the receptionist said yes. In my visit while talking to Dr. Banooni he asked if my cycles were long and I said no ( this would have been an indication of fibroids as I don't have them but have friends who do) so he proceeds to tell me that it is common in African American women (duh I'm in the medical profession and know women who have had them) . But none of my personal medical conversation was an indicator that I have them or a family history of them. After my horrible experience he said I needed an ultrasound to make sure. I specifically asked is an ultrasound covered and he said if it's medically necessary it is covered ( but again nothing in my conversation with him said that it was medically necessary, only the color of my skin?) He not only does an ultrasound but couldn't see anything with the topical ultrasound so he has to do a more painfully unnecessary ultrasound. I asked for 2 things: My results which were normal and my blood type. I waited more 2 weeks to get my results. I decided to call after 2 weeks and 3 days I called the office call and was given my results for my pap smear and there were no results for my blood test. And after the poor follow up and unnecessary treatments I get a bill after being told by the staff and doctor they took my insurance. It's sad that you would risk doing painfully unnecessary procedures so that you can bill insurance companies more money to put in your pocket verses truly being concerned about your patients health. Karma is always peeking around the corner my friend. Be careful how you treat people when you don't have their best interest at heart because if you continue to treat people this way and expect for great things to happen for you and your family, it is only a matter of time before you are on the receiving end of how you mistreat others. Please expect to get my certified formal dispute, a formal letter to of my charges and a call from my attorney. Some things you can not get away with and messing with someones money and health is one them. read more

I cannot say I enjoyed my visit with Dr. Banooni. He was over an hour late for my appointment, which is kind of outrageous. Going over my medical history as a new patient was uncomfortable and felt a bit judgmental. I cannot say he is a bad gyn, I just did not like the visit and general consultation. The only reason I decided to write this review now, months later, is because I keep getting bills in the mail for amounts I have already paid. I keep calling the office and they say no balance is due. I am only hoping some random charge doesn't go to collections, even though the office says my account is current. read more

He is very insightful and gives you the right information you need without judging. He is up to date and street savvy. Dr. Banooni has been my OBGYN for many years now. He is such a genuine human being and cares about his patients. He has always been kind, patient, and above all, taken good care of me. They also have a great office staff. I had to bring a friend of mine here who was several months pregnant, visiting internationally, on an emergency due to abdominal pain. They were able to get her in on a cancellation. We walked in, they quickly handled her paperwork, put her at ease while they did her intake, and we were in to see the doctor within 15 minutes of walking in the door. We got a diagnosis, and she and her baby were fine. For any of the reviews regarding wait time - my waits have varied from 0 minutes to 30 minutes, but average about 10-15 minutes.
