Don't go to Dr. Katz if you are a high-risk pregnancy. He has no bedside manners, doesn't do the proper tests and doesn't assume any responsibility if anything goes wrong. His answer to I'm not feeling well and can't breathe is "you are pregnant". Who says that to someone who is high risk? Dr. Katz has been my doctor for about 34 years now - he's the absolute BEST! To watch his practice grow the way it has over the years makes me SO GRATEFUL to have met him during an ER visit back when I was 20 years old. Little did I know he was just getting started w/ his career - and that he'd become "the celebrity doctor" he is now (I joke with him about this all the time!). That being said, Dr. Katz is still the absolute most down-to-earth, warm and caring doctor I've ever had. A while ago, I had an incredibly painful recurrent UTI. I kept getting prescribed the same antibiotic, which I didn't realize I had become resistant to. When I went to see Dr. Katz, I was in excruciating pain and incredibly sleep deprived because of it. I lost 15 pounds because I was in so uncomfortable, I couldn't eat. While waiting for him to come into the room, I started crying from sheer exhaustion and pain. For the previous two nights, I had only gotten two hours of sleep. The first thing he said when he saw me was, "Why are you crying? It's just a UTI." He rushed through the appointment, barely listened to me, and almost prescribed the wrong antibiotic. He walked out of the room while I was still trying to talk to him. I noticed when I checked in, there were multiple people with my exact same timeslot waiting to see him. Clearly, he was overbooked and unsympathetic. Hands-down the worst experience I've had with a medical professional and I highly recommend avoiding Dr. Katz at all costs. read more

It is a super busy office and becuase it's OB + GYN there are lots of pregnant women around. I go for my annual woman check up, but I hear lots of the pregnant women in the waiting room say great things about the OB practice. Dr Katz lacks empathy for his clients. Horrible bedside manner! He is always rushing to his next appointment, and as a result, is unable to be fully engaged with his patients. Throughout our pregnancy/birthing process, my wife has left his office crying after every visit as a result of physical/emotional pain/trauma inflicted on her by Dr. Katz. Her recovery has been 3x longer than average, and it is 100% a result of Dr. Katz's negligence and lack attention/care for his clients. I visited Dr. Katz for the first time after my fiancé told me to get a second opinion from another doctor when I was diagnosed with a 10cm cyst which was attached to my left ovary. My sister in law referred me to him as Dr. Katz delivered her baby and she, as well as other friends of mine, raved about him. I called to make an appointment and although he is a very busy doctor, his staff (especially Veronica and Maggie) heard the concern in my voice and within a day's time, managed to get me in for an appointment for the following week. Dr. Katz came in early on a Friday to make time for me! Needless to say, Dr. Katz is an extremely knowledgeable doctor. Regardless of all the research I did, when I met him, I just kind of knew he was the one. He checked me, ran tests, explained the procedure and within 19 days, I was on a hospital bed awaiting surgery. He explained that there was a possibility of losing my ovary which really scared me. He told me it was his goal to save it and I trusted him. It's just obvious he knows what he's doing.... Pre Op: First of all, I must say, Cedar Sinai really stepped their game up. Their nurses are top notch and have great bedside manner. They really make you feel like they care about you. Dr. Katz came in to see me before I went under. He talked to me for a bit, introduced himself to my mom and fiancé and told me he's going to take care of me, he knew I was nervous about the possibility of losing my ovary but he reassured me that it was his goal to save it. I was so nervous and my heart felt like it was pounding out of my chest but he just has such a calm demeanor and it's truly contagious. Post Op: From what I understood when I woke up, the surgery took longer than the 45 minutes it was expected to take. It ended up taking about an hour and a half. Turned out that the cyst was bigger than I thought and I didn't just have one, but I had 2 on either side of my ovary. He managed to get it all out AND save the ovary!!! AND, THIS WAS ALL DONE LAPAROSCOPICALLY. After the surgery I rested in recovery for about an hour and a half, the my post op nurse was a doll! She made sure I was feeling okay and even though they were ready to discharge me, I asked to stay a little longer to get some anti nausea meds and rest for a bit longer. She stayed by my side throughout. Summary: If you're looking for a doctor who makes you feel like you're in great hands, Dr. Bobby Katz is your man! He makes you feel at ease and comfortable and he's truly a master at his craft and I trust him with my life! Hopefully one day he'll deliver my children too! Thank you Dr. Katz for everything! Dr Katz delivered my healthy baby boy and was truly the reason I could make it through my extremely difficult labor. When it comes to showtime, Dr Katz shows up and like an amazing coach, takes you to the finish line. Dr.Katz is the best doctor in the world. Besides the fact that he's a great doctor and has a great sense of humor...he really truly cares about his patients. I really don't even know where to begin. He has been my ob/gyn for the past three years. I didn't really put him to the test until I gave birth 1/11/11. I had the most perfect pregnancy. Dr.Katz and his team were a pleasure to deal with every check up. My day of birth came and it was a wonderful experience until the very end.....Dr.Katz noticed that my baby's heart beat was elevated and called down the NICU docs just for precautionary measures. When I gave birth, my baby had swallowed massive amounts of meconium (more than most people there had ever seen at Cedars) The docs were on hand to take care of her and she was whisked away to the NICU...where she was for a month. But during this whole ordeal Dr.Katz kept his cool and reassured us that things would be fine. He put me at ease...even with all the raging hormones! My husband and I were in shock.......while we were in the hospital (3 days) after birth..Dr.Katz visited us am and pm and talked with us about everything we were thinking. He was beyond concerned. After we checked out of the hospital....our baby was still in the NICU.......we would come to the hospital everyday......Dr. Katz called us everyday.....he would also pop into the NICU all the time (even though he didn't know if we'd be there or not). Now our baby is 7 weeks and she just got taken off oxygen. She is a totally normal baby now. Katz is the best and even exceptional under pressure. I plan on having more babies and I'm so confident in him it's scary. I feel bad for you if you don't have Dr.Katz! Can't say enough good things! Dr. Katz has been my OB/GYN since November 2005. He is a phenomenal doctor, and has been there for me through some very difficult situations, including the loss of our identical twin daughters to TTTS at 20 weeks. I cannot imagine a better doctor to deliver our children and walk with us through the pregnancy process. Even though I live in the South Bay now, I still drive into BH to see him- he is just a one in a million doctor, and the kind that a person is lucky to find once in a lifetime. If your pregnancy is complication-free, then you can find many OBs who will be fine for you. But if you happen to have a pregnancy that is difficult and filled with complications, there is no better doctor. He is the kind of doctor that you want there for you when the tough questions hit. With my first daughter in 2006, I had pre-eclampsia and he got us to 38 weeks and I delivered a healthy baby girl. I delivered again with Dr. Katz in 2009, a healthy baby girl who had breathing issues at birth. Even though it was a very scary situation, his calm and control in the delivery room was amazing. I am now 16 weeks pregnant with another daughter, and could not be happier to have Dr. Katz as our doctor. I trust him with my life and the lives of my kids. read more

Bobby Katz delivered both my kids effortlessly! My first pregnancy was amazing and the delivery was flawless. In fact, we had such a great first experience, we decided to do it again! I would go for a third, but Hubby says we're done. Seriously, half the fun of being pregnant was getting to go see Dr Katz and his team for all the ultrasounds, blood work and check ups! By the time you're ready to deliver, they're like family! Office visits were quick and when it came time to induce, I could not have asked for a more perfect delivery day. Even Martha called to wish me luck! LOVE! I arrived at Cedars, got a primo room with a view of the Hollywood sign and within 4 hours was holding my 2nd child. Dr. Katz came by to check on me around 1pm and said he'd be back in a few hours. An hour later, baby was coming and Dr Katz rushed back from his office to deliver my boy. I was lucky, three pushes and the little guy was out- Dr Katz told me to give him my hands, and what do you know? I pulled my son out! Most amazing experience ever! Recovery was easy and I had absolutely no complaints. Dr Katz also did my sons circumcision. Bobby did a primo job! This guy has done thousands of circumcisions, and my husband was lucky enough to watch it happen. The nurses did a great job of numbing the area- it was over in a blink and my son didn't even cry. It healed quickly and even our pediatrician complimented a job well done! I can't say enough great things about Dr Katz. He's a skilled professional, know's his stuff and has a glowing personality to top it off. No ego here, just a fabulous, seasoned professional. I don't know a single person who doesn't love Bobby Katz! If you're lucky enough to be his patient, you're in amazing hands. Everyone in that office is amazing, and after two babies and years of having Bobby as my OB/GYN, I haven't a single complaint... even if the wait is long on occasion. Dr. Katz has been my doctor since I was 17!! I'm now in my mid thirties and he has delivered both my kids! I love this man! His office may be hectic and he may be popular but he always has a way of making me and I'm sure all his patients feel special!! Also, I would like to add the two phlebotomists in that office are literally the only people in the world that can find my veins. Their names are Ilesenia and Rocio. In all my other doctors offices I get poked and poked and even doctors have a hard time. However, those two ladies that I mentioned above are truly amazing and also so friendly!!! Dr. Katz is one of the best Ob-Gyns in town. Period. Enough said. A colleague who is an internist referred him to us and knew him well because Dr. Katz delivered all four of his children. He and his staff took amazing care of my wife and provided information and assistance on getting pregnant. The staff are efficient and friendly. Dr. Katz is mellow and has a great sense of humor and helped us relax during the entire course of the pregnancy. Whether it was calming our nerves by telling us that what we were experiencing was normal during the pregnancy, he was on top of it. During the delivery, he was like a master maestro conducting a symphony, or like another reviewer said, a magician. He conducted the delivery and managed all the players in the delivery room, including my wife, in a masterful manner. I have to give my wife credit, though, she was a fantastic patient, and a most talented musician in the symphony he conducted that morning. It's been a long time I've been going to Dr. Katz for the regular check up. always I was going in minimum 1 hour later than my appointment. recently anytime I've been going to him, instead of him asking about my problem first thing he talks about is freezing eggs. One time when he talked about egg freezing I told him nicely that I am not interested. He said now I know you don't wanna do it. Again last time he brought it up. It was a first thing he asked me when he got in the room. I supposed to have a procedure, but he said I have to do egg freezing first then we do the procedure. I asked him WHY DO I HAVE TO? he said because it's an insurance for you. I told him but I mentioned you last time I'm not interested. After that he started asking questions that he should have already knew, because he had all my medical report. Seemed to me he didn't even review anything when he got in. These days when you go to his office he doesn't have enough time for you to talk to you about your concerns. He tries to visit as many as patients but you don't feel that he cares for you! Make the long story short I feel I'm going to a businessman now. I don't feel I'm going to see my doctor and he would advice what's best for my health. seems like he thinks about the referral he needs to make to the doctor who does the egg freezing.
