I was referred to this doctor for convenience, but my experience was upsetting and fear-inducing. After recovering from BV, I came in for a first time checkup. He said my Pap smear was "slightly abnormal" and immediately ordered a COLPOSCOPY without testing for HPV or explaining what "slightly abnormal" meant. Not to mention I am only 25 years old. He told me I "probably have HPV and it could be cancerous," which left me in tears after the appointment. A colposcopy is invasive and usually recommended based on the severity of results and confirmed high-risk HPV -- neither of which were explained or confirmed in my case. I sought a second opinion from my female gynecologist back home, had a full STD and HPV panel done, and everything came back completely normal. No further procedures were needed. I left feeling scared and pressured rather than informed or cared for. I would not recommend this doctor based on my experience. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Rabin for about two years now. I understand why some are put off by the self advertising throughout the office and requests for 5 star reviews. I was too. But he has certainly earned it with me over time. Pros: -He is exceptional at answering questions in person and making sure you fully understand the answers. -He helped me discover that my increasing migraines were linked to the hormonal birth control I was on and he was helpful in attempts to find a decent replacement that fit for me (when I was in need of BC). -Office staff have over all been very kind. -I had a miscarriage scare recently and he went above and beyond to help me understand the situation and what I could expect going forward. Cons: -Luckily I am still pregnant but since Dr. Rabin no longer delivers, I will have to find a new OBGYN for the next year at least. -His brand of humor may be off putting to some people. -I did have to follow up frequently whenever I need to make an appointment for sudden issues like UTIs and YIs. -Parking for the building he is located in sucks. I always leave extra early to allow time for circling to find a spot. read more

Google reviews saw it first... but putting this here too in case it might help someone in the future: I wish I could give this place 0 stars. First and foremost, the receptionist is a remarkably unpleasant and unsympathetic human being. Second, I went to this doctor with agonizing, excruciating menstrual cramping and Dr. Rabin condescendingly wrote me a "prescription" on a post-it note for Aleve, stating that some people just get cramps and there's nothing we can do about it. I told him I've tried Aleve, I tried everything, and I need help. If he couldn't help me, he should have referred me to a specialist. Now here I am yet again, four Aleves deep each day, bedridden, screaming, vomiting, and sobbing from pain. But at least I can take comfort in knowing it's "normal." So thanks for that. UPDATE: For anyone out there who read this review and had a similar experience, please seek another opinion. As it turns out, I had a progressed form of a disease called endometriosis as well as adenomyosis. These differential diagnoses were made by a gynecologist at UCLA and were then confirmed and treated by a surgeon at Cedars-Sinai who truly saved my life. I went here several years ago because my insurance changed and I had a problem with a cyst on an ovary. I got in the elevator along with a woman who reeked of cigarette smoke and she was rude. Come to find out this was the Dr.'s "nurse". He did not take my problem seriously, making jokes about it. He said there wasn't anything to do about it. I left feeling weird but before I left he said to be sure to leave a 5 star Yelp review. I think it's not normal for a Dr. to have as many reviews as he does and all close to 5 stars. My insurance changed back and I was able to see my regular ONGYN again and never went back here. read more

The Only Reason I'm changing this to a 3 is due to the receptionist. Maria and after a year! I thought. At first. She was just having a bad day and I would ignore the bad attitude but after 2 visits a horrific phone call the other day I can't stay quiet! Rabin Patients received an email about the new changes in his practice so I called 1st thing Monday , (yesterday) to get a referral which he referrenced in the email, I was greeted with the Utmost Rudeness, and attitude telling me that I needed to call the hospital as she couldn't tell me which drs accepted my insurance for care, when I tried to politely tell her about what the email stated she got nastier and hung up, I called back and made the mistake which was my bad and called her honey and asked why she had such a hard time to do what the email asked and reluctantly sent me a list of primary care doctors which isn't the care needed, then again after that email she sent a list of drs that are obgyn. Dr Rabin is the best Dr around sad Maria is this way and has been since the day we started here, don't know if she was informed patients would be calling for referrals or not but slamming down phones on people isn't professional , neither has any visit here as each time it has felt so uncomfortable! Don't know what we ever did to upset her except be friendly to miss Maria! Now hopefully we can find a Dr since we still really have no answers. He is extremely knowledgeable about so many things, explains things very well, is very patient, and also seems to have a great sense of humor. I did a lot of research before scheduling my visit as I looking for a gyn only doctor that could help me with menopausal issues. Dr. Rabin's review on Yelp helped me make the decision. I live an hour away and, when I arrived, I was cheerfully greeted and was brought back quickly. Dr. Rabin has a great sense of humor and carefully explained why I should switch from oral to topical HRT. He told me to check back in a few months for further treatment if necessary. All I can say is wow! I was very hesitant to try a male gyno because of past traumas, but the female gynecologists that I've tried in the valley were hurtful, curt and cold. Dr. Rabin is a breath of fresh air. As someone who is extremely squeamish, I normally get anxious about pelvic exams. However, my experience at his office was easier than any other I've had - including those with female doctors. Dr. Rabin is friendly, warm, empathetic, and hilarious, which really put my anxiety at ease. Because he was interested in how I was feeling overall rather than hyper focusing on my reproductive health only, I ended up sharing symptoms that I didn't even realize had an impact on my reproductive health and therefore he was able to help me with two issues instead of just the one that I came in for. It was April, not a hot day and 9am in the morning. He was sweating profusely through his white dr jacket and he had a wet forehead. He was loud and erratic. It occurred to me he was on drugs. Dr. Rabin became abusive when I went in to see him, yelling at me in front of the waiting room because he thought i'd said something i shouldn't to his staff. I thought I was to have an exam (thank god it didn't happen) but he finagled me out of his office. It occurred to me he was on drugs. I reported him to my primary care dr, who was also a male, and he told me to let it go, the man had a family. I'll just say this: steer clear of him. My wife loves Dr. Rabin. She always is very comfortable with the good doctor when she goes into seeing him. The parking situation is the only bad part of the experience. Parking can cost you a bit much if you are there for a while or if you can find parking around the block I would say that's better for you. But for the last two times coming here parking around the block has been a tough commodity to come by. Dr. Rabin has a great sense of humor and met us years ago. We couldn't believe this great guy was a doctor. Well turns out to be my wife's favorite doctor she has to go see. Why would I settle for anyone else less then fantastic for my wife. I wouldn't. I always look for a gyno that doesn't deliver babies because that always led to me sitting in waiting rooms for ridiculous amounts of time. This is how I found Dr Rabin. (I can tell you an old story of me helping myself to some items in a cabinet of a different Doctor's office once after being left sitting naked from the waist down on a cold, hard table for nearly an hour right before dressing and marching out of that office, but that is a better story over a glass of wine) But back to Dr Rabin - they best part of seeing him is the education he provided about menopause and the guidance he came up with after really listening to me and my symptoms and issues. I'm always nervous about going to these exams, but since this was my second one with him, I really wasn't.
