I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Joon Choi and the nurse practitioner. If you are pregnant, this office may be a good fit. However, if you are dealing with more complex or ongoing gynecological concerns outside of pregnancy, I did not feel supported. I have been experiencing persistent discomfort and went in seeking answers and guidance. Beyond testing for basic infections, there did not seem to be any interest in exploring other possible causes or discussing next steps. When those tests came back negative, I felt like there was no plan and no curiosity about what else could be going on. I also requested documentation for a workplace accommodation due to ongoing discomfort, and that request was dismissed in a way that felt unsympathetic and invalidating. What was most upsetting was not just the lack of answers, but the lack of feeling heard. I left feeling discouraged and losing confidence in the medical system. Patients deserve to feel listened to, especially when they are in pain and seeking help. read more

I had the worst experience with this OB. He never reviewed or discussed my records with me, and when I asked for an ultrasound, I was denied. Instead of being seen by my doctor, I was shuffled around and only seen by random nurses until I was 5 months pregnant. Even when seen by him he constantly rushes through appointments and doesn't take time to listen to patient concerns. I would not recommend him to anyone who wants attentive, consistent, and compassionate care during pregnancy. I do not know how people still go by him, but I switched my dr after 6 months of this nonsense. Finally found someone who is much better and attentive. read more

I'm not going to recommend anyone go to this doctor anymore, especially pregnant women, because there's total indifference here from both the doctor and the staff. I had my first child with this doctor and was very satisfied because my pregnancy was easy and I didn't cause them any trouble. But now with my second baby, I'm four months pregnant and have been in a really bad condition for these four months. I'm often ending up in the emergency room every two or three days, and when I call them for help or try to see the doctor, they just very politely send me home without offering any real help. He is my gynecologist, but for four months now he hasn't provided any help at all. I'm really disappointed in them. read more

I had difficulty on second pregnancy but he made it possible that I didn't need a c section. The staff is another topic, everyone in the office is so professional and kind. Overall I had a good experience with this doctor, but I moved at 21 weeks so my personal experience ends there. You never have to wait for your appointment, and the nurses are all really nice. I got everything I needed for every appointment, and if I wanted to skip on a certain procedure it was always done with understanding. They do all the necessary testing. The doctor isn't super personal or anything and the office isn't super fancy & it's oddly associated with a plastic surgery type place , but for me that didn't matter. The RN I saw at one appointment was also so kind and knowledgeable. You can deliver at Providence Burbank with them also which was a plus for me. The only thing is I was very nervous at blood draws and I wish they had a separate room with a recliner chair for more comfort. They just have a small lab room with one upright chair. But luckily the nurses are all understanding and will give you anything you need. They also don't use patient portals which is odd. Overall, I would recommend for non complicated pregnancies. read more

Thanks to Dr. Choi and his amazing staff I have a beautiful healthy baby boy. My experience could not have gone any better than it did. During every appointment I was greeted with so much kindness and compassion. Being a first time mom is a very vulnerable and scary time but Dr. Choi and every member of this office made sure I left happy with no questions and concerns. I looked forward to every appointment. I was so nervous the day of my delivery but Dr. Choi explained everything Step by step and calmed my nerves. I was Induced at 11:30 a.m and by 11:18 p.m my baby was safe in my arms. I had a natural delivery and I couldn't have asked for a smoother experience for my first. Came in for a very painful pap and IUD insertion. while the procedure itself was absolutely awful DR KIM and PAOLA acted as true angles and professionals. They made the experience as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Paola played music got me ice and water dimmed the lights Dr Kim took his time and was reassuring. Maybe teach your nurse interns how to properly take blood. I have had the worsts bruise and it's been so painful for 4 days. WHO ALLOWS THIS ??? Also just because the location changed doesn't mean your quality should go down. Please care! Generally care about your patience and show them your undivided attention. Listen & help . Read there charts before entering the room. Know your patient enough so when they leave they feel confident in there doctor. This last visit was rushed, uncomfortable & not sincere. read more

I can not express how much I respect and trust Dr Joon Choi. He has been my OBGYN for my 2 daughters. I also recommend him for my sister in laws labor and delivery. I cant imagine another Doctor to take care of me and my unborn child. The office girls are always welcoming and respectful. they always make sure all my questions are answered. If the girls are not able to, Seda, the office manager, make sure to pick up any missing pieces. The office works so harmoniously. The doctor and entire staff work as a team and that is very important. I had a very difficult delivery the first time because my daughter was not positioned right. I chose dr Choi after reading reviews in Google and Yelp, also learning about his experience and the fact he's board certified. But later I stumbled across nasty reviews suggesting that dr Choi would much rather perform c-section and would do anything for it to be the way for delivery. So I got scared and wanted to change the doctor, but it was kind of late. During delivery I expressed my concerns and wishes and he gave me as much time as I needed to as long as the baby and I were stable. I was 19 hrs in labor and during the pushing stage he proved his professional approach, once the dr showed up and took matters in his hands the baby was born soon after. Very grateful to dr Choi, and the wonderful staff at the clinic. read more

I've only been to the practice a few times for my prenatal visits. From my experience they only service a certain demographic, the nurses are "nice" & do their jobs as expected & the receptionists for the most part go w/ the flow. I started going to this office in sunland bc I was on medical but knew I'd be off after returning to work & starting back w/ my previous insurance. On a few occasions I was supposed to see the doctor and never saw him once as I was bounced around to multiple NPs. I was randomly called out of nowhere and was told that they wouldn't be taking my insurance coming 2024 which led me to believe that was why I hadn't gotten a chance to see the doctor in the 1st place. I was constantly asked where I would be switching to meanwhile for a pregnant mother being told by insurance to go see one OB & then have the OB say they can't see you anymore when they've never even actually saw you, is stressful. My last appointment was a mess, I guess because they knew I wasn't coming back they decided the hell with her. I asked repeatedly before I got there if I could get a sonogram done to make sure my baby was ok everyone said yes just ask the nurse when you get in, I get in & meet a new NP that was a little confused about which patient I was. I asked her if I could get a sonogram and she initially said no, I expressed my concerns and she obliged. (Mind u I'm leaving details out bc her explanations & excuses were all over the place). I leave after a quick Doppler & 1 minute sonogram but we don't discuss my labs or anything else. The next day I was experiencing some nausea and ended up staying home from work, I call in to review my labs & see if I could get a work note. The receptionists left me on hold for 20 mins & I eventually hung up, called back to speak to a nurse or NP and we sat on the phone going back & forth about my insurance even though I was still under their care. I explained that my insurance wasn't going to be changed until the 1st of January so I couldn't do anything with any other doctor, she told me that I was misunderstanding what I had been told but I've been w/ Kaiser before and I know the protocol. She then proceeded to say that it would be illegal to provide me w/ a work note even though I was experiencing these symptoms due to my pregnancy and that I would have to find a way to get to a hospital. As she was trying to get me off of the phone we did not discuss my labs or even get offered to come in to be seen for my nausea so that I could get a work note. As far as the illegality of a work note, had I at least been offered a date and time to come back in time be assessed it would've felt like there was some type of concern for a pregnant woman instead of being told to go to any random hospital & sit in an ER for nausea due to pregnancy, had I not been passed around & saw the doctor when I knew he was available bc I saw him in the clinic, had I been able to review my labs w/ a medical professional, had they chosen not to stop taking citrus valley medical group after already seeing me multiple times, had my last visit not have been rushed....maybe I wouldn't think this doctor has a preference to only look at the vaginas of the demographic of women that he chooses to see. However after reading the complaint of a woman that he helped deliver her babies & her stating that he left a scar on her baby's head I'm very happy that he/ his office treated me this way, I'd probably be singing another tune... read more

In '17 & '19 Choi delivered my babies. Both were terrible & torture. So bad, that I decided my 3rd would be different, she was born 100% natural with midwives at a birth center, WITHIN ONE HOUR! Let me explain. My 1st born was in '17 with Choi & I guess I was naive & trusted everything the "doctors" recommended. He recommended an induction only 2 days past my due date saying my baby would get too big. I was induced at about 9pm & he was born at 1am the following day, so a 27hr labor! no rest, no food, no water, all you get is ice cubes & I was basically scared into getting an epidural after telling them I wanted to wait & see if I thought I needed one they said because "there was a long wait you might not get it in time" so it was basically now or never. I told them ok, I'll get it and the epidural was set up within 30mins. It caused me to become completely numb from the waist down. In the end, I had energy so they offered to vacuumed him out without even explaining the risks, he was born 7lbs. I didn't know any better & thought maybe I just couldn't push properly, so 7months later, I went back to him again. This time again, he wanted to induce me & I said no several times until I went into labor naturally, this time I had a 17hr labor with an epidural because they literally don't want you to move off of the back laying position. My water broke without any nurse there and I told them my water had broken, but Choi insisted that he break the water by inserting a hook. After doing so my labor pains got MUCH worse! I mentioned that to the nurses & no one seemed to care. My baby was born with a 1" cut on the top of his head where Choi had tried to break my already broken water. My baby had swallowed tons of liquid and they had to pump his stomach after birth and I'm 100% certain it was because of the pain he felt by the hook cutting his head. But again they doctors don't care about that, all they care about is how much $$$$ will end up in their pocket from each birth. Absolutely do not trust them anymore, I would rather have 100 natural births feeling my body and going through the labor pains (which honestly aren't that difficult) than 1 birth at a hospital. My daughter was born at a birth center without doctors, only 2 midwives present. We labored at home, arrived at the birth center at 1:45am and she was born in the water 1 hr later at 2:55am. It was magically and I'll definitely never birth at a hospital again. read more

I went to Jubilee athletics for Botox. I was concerned because Dr Choi only recommended 20 units ( I have been getting 44 units) at the other medical office I used to go to. However, the 20 units has worked wonderfully which leads me to believe the other business I was previously going to was diluting the Botox and I was paying more. The worst experience I have ever had. The administration work is horrible, the nurses especially the Nurse Practitioner Rita has zero professionalism and compassion or even work ethic. Nobody listens you there is not even a one person who would just listen to your questions they just ignore you. I had an issue with hormone levels, so one of the front desk worker called me and she was like(oh you know your hormone level got higher but not too high so do you want an appointment just in case?) I was like so confused that non medical specialists is calling me with that kind of question, and none of the nurses even knew about that call, Then after that the nurse practitioner Rita, saw me and she informed me that baby's heart stopped and that I need to take a pill and get rid of it, then she refused to give me my documents and analysis so I can get checked in a different place asap. When I eventual went to pregnancy termination center they have told me that everything is clean and that they can't do anything at that moment because it was too early and I did not have any miscarriage sign. I have never seen the doctor Choi but his staff and all of my horrible experience was enough for me to not step a foot at that office ever again. read more

I had the most amazing experience with Dr. Choi when I was pregnant with my daughter 2 years ago. Had a by-choice c-section and had a great experience with him. I felt soo comfortable and relaxed the day of my delivery. I am now pregnant with baby #2 and here with Dr. Choi again! He is knowledgeable and superb at what he does. I am honestly shocked at Dr Choi's ratings on yelp.. I went to him for a persistent issue and he listened to zero of the things that I said, talked so fast I could barely understand or keep up with him, and rushed out of my room like it was on fire after the pap. He tried to give me a rx that I told him I had already tried and did not work. He got frustrated when I started to ask questions about dosing or efficacy of trying it again and just asked me if I wanted to try something else. NO I WANT ANSWERS AS TO WHY THIS IS HAPPENING TO ME AND IF THAT WILL FIX IT. By the time he was done I just sat in the room and cried. It was TERRIBLE. And then I went to the front to schedule my follow up appointment and found out he didn't want to see me for a YEAR! DO NOT GO TO DR CHOI!! I absolutely love this office and the medical staff here (special thank you to: Mella, Adriana, Liz, Paola, and Victoria). The office is very welcoming and organized. I came to this office for prenatal care in my third trimester of pregnancy (late in the game) due to insurance changes and they took really good care of me. I cannot express how hard it is to find a good ob/gyn physician along with wonderful medical staff, bc no doctor or office is perfect- including this one. I'm so happy I choose Dr. Choi and his team! On another note, if your easily offended or looking for a doctor who is charming, sensative, and has the best bedside manners on the planet...Dr. Choi is not. Instead, he can come off as taciturn or cold; especially when it comes to bedside manners. Most patients either love him or hate him. What I can personally say from experience is that he is compassionate in a stern way. But if your super pregnant and hormonal like I was you might not warm up to him at first..took me a few visits. However, I specifically choose Dr. Choi for his experience and being a skilled surgeon. Not personality. I needed a Csection for my second pregnancy and if you find yourself in my shoes needing surgery - Dr. Choi is the go to person for Csection! He is a bad ass surgeon. I did not like Dr. Choi at all... I had an appointment for my 20 week pregnancy check up. This was the first time seeing him because I had just switched doctors. He spent less than 5 minutes with me in the appointment and asked me a couple of questions, after which I felt very judged. He didn't give me any time to ask him questions and I just felt very rushed and judged. Not an enjoyable experience at all. That being said, the front desk ladies and the nurses were very friendly, very helpful, and very kind. This is why I gave 2 stars and not 1. I would avoid this doctor. read more

I was recommened to see Dr. Choi through a friend when I found out I was pregnant in 2021. I had my baby in June of 2022 with an emergency C-section. Dr. Choi made my experience less scary and performed my C-section with no issues. The staff are always helpful and kind. I decided to return to Dr. Choi for my second pregnancy. I saw Rita, the NP, who was very educated and helpful as well. Dr. Choi delivered my second baby with no issues. I recommend him to all my friends and family! read more

He is the worst doctor I have ever had the displeasure of knowing. I went to see him EVERY SINGLE MONTH for 8 months STRAIGHT (both Glendale and panorama city) and he refused to do any lab tests on me - just looked me over visually. Finally I went for a second option and that Dr. ran tests and by that point I was so sick I was on a 6 month treatment plan to get me back to normal. The second option dr just took one look at me and understood I was in a lot of pain. I will never forget the neglect of Joon Choi. His medical license should be taken away. read more

Ive had such a good experience with Dr Joon Choi this is gonna be a pretty long review. First let me start that he wasn't my first dr. When i found out i was pregnant. I had another one who i wasnt very pleased with, i had such a bad experience with so i decided to switch drs. And im so glad, i was a little hesitant at first cause i wasnt sure about a male obgyn. Im so glad we went for it. He was recommended by one of my friends (she a Surgical tech, and was teling me that dr choi is one of the best drs she's worked with especially with surgery like csections) So we went in, Violet the girl at the front desk helped me set up everything, she's amazing! I mean all His staff is amazing! They helped me with every step, every question. They were very patient. I waited till i gave birth to put a review because i really wanted to say how good of an experience i had all in all. Dr Choi is very straight to the point which i like, you go to the appointment he tells you how it is and how its going to be. No sugar coat. He also has the same humor as me, kind of sarcastic but for me its funny. When we got to the hospital, i had an emergency csection. He was very patient with me cause i was crying and shaking cause i wasn't expecting it at all. But we had to for baby. But he explained everything to me very calmly and he worked very well with me until baby came out and every day he visited me while i was still staying in the hospital to check in on me. Oh and did i mention he is soo good. My stitches look amazing! Even my friends say it doesnt look like i was cut up! Haha and im Only 3 weeks post partum. Truly a nice office. First time going to this office for a yearly check up & I was very pleased. All of the staff was friendly and welcoming. Major plus for actually seeing patients at the time of their appointments. My time was 3:30 and I was out of there by 4-4:10. I did not have to wait in the waiting for or to see the doctor.
