I had been coming to this office for several months and unfortunately the overall cleanliness,…read moreorganization, and patient communication became a recurring concern. During my most recent visit, multiple surfaces and items in the room were visibly dirty -- including the exam chair, the stirrup covers, and even the wall. There was also a large open jar of numbing compound that appeared discolored and had residue smeared in several areas around the room. These are basic hygiene issues that should be taken seriously in any medical setting. I reached out privately to the office hoping to share these concerns directly and ask where to send photos, but instead of addressing the situation, my patient portal access was suddenly deactivated. That was extremely disappointing, especially since I was trying to communicate respectfully and privately. In addition to the cleanliness concerns, wait times at every appointment were consistently long, even when I was scheduled first thing in the morning ( I was reassured that I would be seen as long as I booked the first appointment. Not only did that never happen, but I was told while I was in the room ready to be examined that she was on her way to work. I often waited over an hour before being seen, and the office frequently seemed disorganized. There was also very little communication regarding care, no notes were provided or printed, and when I asked for clarity on certain medical information, I was simply told to "google it." Everything felt SO RUSHED!!! I genuinely tried to resolve this directly with the clinic before posting here, but being blocked from my own portal left me with no other way to make my experience known. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves the hygiene standards and communication with patients moving forward. Lastly, if you get anything done here, please make sure to have them check your insurance first. I paid a lot of money out of pocket and I didn't get any clear communication on why that wasn't under my insurance. ..

Sadly, this isn't a review for the Dr. I'd love to have…read morebeen able to see the Dr but the front office staff are seemingly deliberately ignoring my calls and emails requesting an appointment. It's pretty scandalous that front office staff are able to gatekeep Drs in this way when I assume the Drs have no idea how potential patients are being treated. I emailed over a week prior and received a call back a few days later. The front office member wasn't clear on the membership criteria or breakdown and kept repeating for me to 'read the email I've sent you' which she forwarded during the call to further avoid having to explain. The crux of if seemed to be that she didn't understand the fee structure or insurance component herself so continually repeated the same line to read the email. Realizing that she wasn't going to help me, she said 'I'll get someone else to call you back'. I've not been called back in over 1 week and have been consistently ignored when I've tried to email follow up (6 times). This front office associate was curt, passive aggressive and extremely unhelpful- exactly the opposite of a positive front desk interaction with a potential patient looking for specific care. I'd been referred to this Dr from another one and would have loved to have seen her. Unfortunately, it's not possible due to her front office staff. Posting this review in the hope that she will see it and investigate how her staff are treating potential (and likely existing) patients. I'm fairly confident the Dr would be appalled at them ruining the reputation of her business. I would recommend her recording calls and monitoring emails. Attaching the 6 follow ups without response for people to see.

And she was with us through the majority of the active labor pushing, which wasn't something I expected I thought she'd just pop in towards the end. I really felt like she was there for me, for us. I don't think the poor reviews based on office or admin experiences are fair. It's not true to my experience of the 20ish appts I've been in for. The office staff is kind, friendly. In my opinion, if you're going to charge a steep fee, you should at the very least offer a free consultation. The staff was so incredibly rude to me, and then hung up in my face as I was trying to figure out if this would financially work for me. I called her back to tell how rude she was. She doubled down. I just passed two years since she removed an ovarian cyst and my body has never been the same. About three weeks post-op, I developed severe lower abdominal bloating and distension and related GI issues that have never, ever left me. Not even for a day. Despite doctors determining that my abdominal wall has changed as a result of the surgery, Varkey insists the surgery, which took place in the same exact spot as all of my symptoms, all of which occurred suddenly one night only a few weeks after my surgery, has no relation to it whatsoever. When I pushed a bit harder that the timing is not a coincidence, she insisted that I, "wanted the surgery," as if the complications were my fault??? 1. She is the Dr and I followed her medical advice, I never forced her to operate on me. 2. I never accused her of doing something wrong during surgery at all, and she quickly pointed a finger at me. I was trying to get her to see the relationship so that she could help me and flag this as a potential, but rare, negative outcome from the surgery. Instead, it triggered her, when its just a fact and not personal. and I have seen her be emotional on multiple occasions that make me feel uncomfortable with her. Seeking medical help is not an attack, Dr. Varkey. She said she has never had patients with complications or complications of my kind. I implore her to consider that she will never have a patient with complications if she is in denial that their health issues have any relation to the surgery. Her denial of the reality is why I feel inclined to leave a review, that's what was the most concerning part of this. As I was having yet another terrible night in pain, I coudlnt help but feel so hopeless that ive suffered so much and she doesn't even see it as related. Hopefully someone who is considering her as their surgeon will see this and know that this is something that happened, even if it was a rare outcome. That doesnt mean this will happen to you. She also doesn't take insurance, which is a really, really notable behavior in this economy. I will seek a doctor who treats my medical needs as legitimate and also believes poor people deserve healthcare too.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Amersi. I initially came to her seeking guidance…read morewith HRT, and from my very first appointment, I knew I was in incredibly capable and caring hands. Dr. Amersi has a very busy practice and many patients, yet somehow, every single time I see her, she makes me feel like I have her full attention. She is present, calm, thorough, and never makes me feel rushed. Her bedside manner is exceptional, and I genuinely feel that she cares about my health and well-being. What I appreciate most is her commitment to preventative care. Before simply putting me on hormones, she wanted to understand the complete picture of my health. She ordered genetic testing to evaluate hereditary cancer risks, performed my Pap smear and an ultrasound, and ordered comprehensive bloodwork to evaluate my hormone levels. When my ultrasound showed that my uterine lining was a little thick, she monitored it carefully by prescribing me progesterone rather than overlooking it. Once all of my results were available, she created an HRT and wellness plan specifically for my body and my needs, which included progesterone and testosterone along with targeted medical grade supplements. I have felt so much more balanced since beginning my regimen. I recently returned for my follow-up ultrasound, and my uterine lining is now within the normal range. We are continuing to monitor my bloodwork, and she has also recommended a bone density scan so we can be proactive about my bone health as I move through this stage of life. That is what I love about her--she isn't just treating symptoms; she is looking at my overall health and thinking about prevention and longevity. She is also incredibly responsive to my emails and questions, which means so much when you are navigating hormones and changes in your body. I trust Dr. Amersi completely. She has such a calm, reassuring presence, and I feel genuinely cared for every time I walk into her office. Finding a physician who combines this level of knowledge, thoroughness, preventative care, responsiveness, and compassion is rare. I am so grateful I found her. She has made such a positive difference in how I feel, and I absolutely love having her as my doctor.

They had asked me on my first visit. I was excited to find a physician specializing in perimenopause and HRT, and am ALWAYS about women empowerment, but my experience was horrible from start to finish. From spelling my name incorrectly and entering my phone number incorrectly, which led to me not received the call from the pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions and follow-up care. Rather than acknowledging those errors, I was blamed and scolded by the doctor for problems that resulted from inaccurate information in my chart and her front office staff scheduling me for an appt on the wrong date. The doctor misdiagnosed me, started me on a medication that I did not need and I was told by two other doctors to discontinue. Amersi kept referring to it as PCOS when discussing it and even in results and emails, but rudely corrected me every time, that it was no longer called that, it's PMOS-weird! And anyway, I'm perimenopausal, which is why I was there, why she brought up PMOS-beyond me. You can't get a word in edge wise, because she is so rude she talks over you and scolds you, while you're undressed from the waist down. I literally stood up covered by the drape and told her this wasn't going to work and she talked me in to staying for the exam, then shoved the transvaginal US wand in, painful, said two words, if that, then walked out of the room. I had to ask one of the girls from the front who tried kicking me out of the room to call the doctor back. I still had questions. Labs were normal, after being told by this office that they were not. A JOKE OR A NIGHTMARE, I'm not sure which one, from start to finish, from the front office staff to the doctor's DISGUSTING, bedside manner. There was nothing concierge about this experience. Pay the extra $500 ($1500), yes $500 more than what Amersi's office rips you off for, and see the other specialist in the area, message me if you would like more details.

I recently moved from NYC and needed to find a new doc. I rarely write reviews, but my experience with this doctor's office was so concerning that I feel obligated to share it for other patients. I scheduled my first appointment months in advance (around October/November) and wasn't able to see the doctor until February. When I finally had the appointment, it felt rushed and my symptoms were not meaningfully addressed. I am dealing with severe perimenopausal symptoms including debilitating menstrual pain, joint pain, and brain fog. At times the pain has been so severe that I could barely move. The doctor prescribed HRT. When I later called the office because I believed the dosage might need to be adjusted, it took nearly five days for anyone to return my call. During that time I asked whether a nurse practitioner or another clinician could call me back, but no one did. When the office finally called, it was late Friday afternoon while I was on a flight. When I attempted to return the call, their voicemail system would not allow me to leave a message. The same thing happened when I tried again on Tuesday morning. Eventually I was told the doctor would only discuss my concerns if I came in to see her. However, no timely appointment was offered despite the fact that I was reporting severe symptoms. At one point the office called offering a telemedicine appointment at essentially the exact time it was supposed to occur. Most recently, I had a telemedicine appointment scheduled for 3:15 pm. I logged into the portal and waited nearly an hour. During that time I received a message saying the provider was running late and that I should stay connected. Eventually the call simply ended and the doctor never joined. When I called the office, the receptionist told me she spoke directly with the doctor and then came back and told me the doctor would not be able to see me because she had already moved on to other patients. Meanwhile I had spent the entire weekend in severe pain with no medical guidance from the practice. It is extremely discouraging to seek medical care while in significant pain and encounter this level of inaccessibility and lack of follow-up. Patients deserve timely communication and appropriate medical support, particularly when medication management and severe symptoms are involved. Unfortunately that was not my experience here.
