Some people seem to have had a good experience with Dr. Morse and that's wonderful. I also had good experiences with her when I was having regular exams with no issues. When I started having issues, I also started feeling dismissed. After getting the Paraguard IUD in 2019, I was suddenly bleeding A LOT, and not just for a few weeks or months but for the whole year I had it, especially during sex, which having never been painful before, became extremely painful after the insertion. I was also experiencing cloudy, sweet-smelling urine, without pain, AND for a year or more after removal. Dr. Morse offered diflucan and suggested I could try OTC yeast infection meds, if I really felt like that's what it was, to no avail. Well, I didn't know what it was I was only guessing, but even though cloudy urine isn't painful, I couldn't help but feel like it was a symptom of a deeper problem. Because it was sweet-smelling, I asked for diabetes testing from my primary care physician, which came back negative. Eventually I avoided vaginal sex completely because of the sharp, stabbing pain. Dr. Solky told me that it couldn't be cervical inflammation or a yeast infection, and suggested it could be endometriosis even though I have no heavy bleeding, cramping or pain during periods. She reminded me at every turn that my symptoms had nothing to do with the IUD. Needless to say, I was at a loss, confused and frustrated, and didn't go back to Dr. Solky, but once I was overdue for a pap, found another gynecologist. In the first five minutes of my appointment with a new doctor, I learn that the Paraguard IUD works by causing inflammation and creating a hostile environment in the cervix and that it was probably too big for me (she measured my cervix during the ultrasound). She said that it's possible my body might've been sensitive enough to the inflammation to have caused an infection of some kind, like a mild case of BV or something like that. THEN she offered to send tests to the lab to check for an infection (CUE ANGELS SINGING) and keep an eye on my more recent, less concerning symptoms. This is what a doctor should be, truly. Feeling validated is something the healthcare system doesn't often do, so it feels like a finding a saint. My experience with Dr. Solky made me feel distrustful and paranoid, that I was not being listened to and like my pain and other symptoms were not being taken seriously. read more

She's a quack. I had a horrific birth experience with her delivering my twins and with her botching a follow up surgery as well. I ran into another twin mom in Santa Barbara one time and we shared our horror shows about giving birth to twins. Lo and behold she also had Dr Solky as her Dr! She has no business being in practice. Retire already and don't treat twin mothers. read more

I regret not suing Karyn Morse Solky because she nearly killed me. My daughter was born 6 weeks early on a Saturday night (I definitely advise against having a baby on a Saturday night). Dr. Morse Solky was irritated about having to come in to attend to me because she had plans for the evening. It was the night of her best friend's 40th birthday party & I was interfering with that. The only reason I know this is because Karyn TOLD ME she didn't want to be there. My water broke. And she was my doctor. When Dr. Morse Solky pulled on the umbilical cord after my daughter was delivered, it snapped off, so she manually removed the placenta from my womb, which, up to that point in my life, was the most excruciating pain I'd ever felt. I could feel her ripping the placenta off my uterine wall. Much more painful than giving birth. If she'd waited a bit, the placenta may well have released itself. But she had a party to get to, so who cares if it hurts? Dr. Morse didn't bother to look at or send the placenta to pathology to ensure it was complete & left with her boyfriend to go to her party. She didn't get the whole placenta. My daughter was born at 7PM & I was in excruciating pain until 3AM when I finally started screaming. Literally screaming, that ai was dying and needed a "real doctor" because the resident kept telling me I was fine. So a "real doctor" finally came in and examined me and started pulling fist-sized blood clots out of me. They filled THREE PAPER GROCERY BAGS with the blood clots. No clue why that's what they were using to toss the blood clots into, but that's what it was. One of the nurses later said it was one of the most horrific things she'd ever seen. Historically, women have died in childbirth due to retained placenta. But that's not what should happen with ANY mother at Cedars Sinai. So, then the "real" doctor manually removed the rest of the placenta that was still attached/retained. Again, excruciatingly painful. I could feel him ripping it off the inside of my uterus. And, surprise, surprise, next day Dr. Morse Solky did NOT come to see me. She sent some other dude from her practice who downplayed the whole thing by saying that what happened was no big deal for a "young woman as healthy as you." Yeah, that happened. This experience traumatized me. And none of it HAD to happen. "Dr." Karyn Morse Solky choreographed every step of this horror show. Because she didn't care. Don't expose yourself to this woman. My worst enemy deserves better. read more

With news of the federal investigation of Cedars Sinais treatment of Black women I am going public with my story, filing my own OCR complaint and leaving this review. If you're a Black woman, find another doctor. I am a Black woman and Dr Solky had short several visits with me prior to my birth (less than 20 mins), where I often waited in the waiting room for up to an hours to be seen. I would frequently see white women arrive after me and be seen immediately which was also frustrating and should have been a sign. After I was admitted for the birth of my son the doctor arrived hours after my birth process began. Due to incorrect fetal monitoring it was discovered my child was in distress so Dr. Solky did a c section on me without any pain killers. No epidural, no pain meds, and absolutely nothing to help my pain while she cut into my body and pulled my child out. Subsequently I didn't heal correctly and after weeks of calling Dr Solkys office for help they finally had me come back in after I told them I'd been leaking fluid from the c section for weeks. My c section was left open by Dr. Solky which meant I wasn't able to walk for months after my c section, and I had to be abraded by a nurse who visited me at home for several weeks to stab my c section with long qtip a to close a scar that was over 6 inches wide and 4 inches deep. I thought it was just me but now knowing more about systemic racism in healthcare I realize it's part of a larger issue so I'm speaking up and warning Black women away from this one. A white woman doctor friend of mine used Dr Solky and had a wonderful time, but that wasn't my experience. It took me years to regain my ability to walk or sit up due to the terrible surgery and I could have said something prior but it's embarrassing as a Black woman to admit that you expected better treatment when the world should have taught you better by now! read more

I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Solky. I had a challenging pregnancy. Dr. Solky was with me all the way, monitoring me closely and answering my countless questions. She is very responsive and has always made time to see me when needed, even though she's booked far in advance. She is smart, compassionate, thoughtful and calm. I recommend her highly. read more

Dr. Solky saved my life and my daughters life. I have never felt so comfortable and cared for by a physician. I was admitted into the hospital at 28 weeks with a severe preeclampsia diagnosis and ended up delivering at 29 weeks and 5 days. Saying I was scared is an understatement and the only thing that ever brought me hope, faith, and calm was Dr. Solky. Her mere presence in my hospital room brought me so much comfort. Which she visited every morning of every day I was admitted. I had to have an emergency c-section which terrified me. I remember going into the OR room alone leaving my husband behind while they prepped me for surgery. I didn't know anyone in the room and then all of a sudden I saw Dr. Solky and I immediately felt safe, relieved, and supported. All she did was take my hands and told me everything was going to be ok. She was so professional yet calm and warm, I believed her and she was right. My daughter ended up being 1lb. 15oz., she spent 3 months in the NICU and 1.5 years later she is thriving. I cannot say enough about Dr. Solky. Excellent doesn't describe her well enough because she is far beyond! read more

Dr Solky is AMAZING. She's delivered two of my babies. I have recommended her to at least 5 friends who still see her. She is patient, brilliant and radiates light from her face. I have never felt rushed during office visits or during my deliveries. She always creates a very comfortable space (both in the office and in the hospital). I feel very fortunate to have found her! read more

HORRIBLE experience with Dr. Morse. She performed a botched hysterectomy on me in 2007. I had complications after and she basically dismissed me and then fired me! I was treated like a problematic patient and I do not think Dr. Morse was qualified to perform such a major surgery. I am so dismayed that I used this terrible Dr. and have been chronically in pain and suffering for years because of her. read more

Dr. Solky is amazing! She always sits down at each visit and takes the time to answer any and all my questions. She was incredibly responsive to email questions and very patient with this first time momma! She was very present and supportive of me for my birth and came to check on me multiple times. I can't recommend her enough, I really trusted her to take care of me and my baby, she did a great job! Best bedside manner and lots of expertise, I highly recommend! read more

I had a terrific experience with Dr. Solky and her entire team. Cedars Sinai where she delivers is a great place to have a baby. My husband and I lean towards the natural side of things, but wanted an OB as opposed to the midwife/home birth route for our first baby since everything was so new to us as first time parents. Dr. Solky was so personable from day one and would respond to emails or phone calls promptly. She was never pushy with the medical side of things and was open to our ideas for a more natural birth. When it came to delivery, we had a lot of curve balls thrown at us (water broke and no contractions for more than 10 hours), but Dr. Solky was respectful of our requests for time for my husband and I to discuss our options and make a game plan. She worked very well with our doula and also respected her opinions and her role in our birth. She's smart, capable, listens well, and knows how to put your mind at ease as a mom. Everything you want in a doctor. She took such great care of our whole family from the first trimester to the postpartum appointment. I cannot recommend her enough, and hope she's able to deliver our future babies. read more

The worst! I have been having abnormal periods for 5 months and I called Dr Solky many times on this issue. She said to go on the pill for a few months which I did not want to do. Then to come in in over a month for a ultra sound. I went to another Dr. for a second opinion and they found tissue in my uterus. I had just had an ultra sound with Dr. Solky in Oct. and she did not see this and wanted me to wait this out. I have had my period for FIVE months and she said I am not going to die. Ok not a good experience at all! read more

I have been going to her for 3 years, and she is great. Wonderful demeanor, and wonderful doctor. My insurance is changing, but she is so good that I am probably just going to pay out of pocket for any needed services. It has been very hard to come forth after all these years and write this. Dr Morse was a back up doctor for my doctor in 2008. My OBGYN went out of town so Dr Morse delivered my child. I had an epidural due to a severe back spasm during labor. The end was tough as I pushed for 3 hours. Finally my daughter was born. A group of pediatricians raced in because they thought my daughter broke her clavicle. While that was happening, Dr Morse was sewing my 2nd degree tears. She used topical anesthetics. I told her that I was in excruciating pain. I told her to stop and she said "sit still and let me finish". It was the most traumatic experience to tell your doctor to stop and that you cant bear the pain and she keeps sewing you up. At the same time I was worried about my baby. Weeks later I returned to her office to discuss what happened. She explained that my epidural ran out. I asked her why she didnt give me more if I was screaming in pain. She said she did not because I would then be delayed to walk. I told her I cant believe she didnt hear me and that it didnt matter if I couldnt walk for a little longer. I was in excruciating pain. She replied "Ok, now we know for next time". She was so disconnected from me and so cold it was unreal. I continued to go to her for regular yearly OBGYN visits. I would have in office ultrasounds. In 2012, I had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Till this day I wonder whether she missed something in her ultrasounds. I decided to write this because even after all these years, these memories have been very painful. read more

Dr Morse Solky is the BEST doctor hands down. She is super nice, follows up and has taken amazing care of me. Yes, you have to wait sometimes.. but I have yet to find a doctor you don't have to wait for... and the reason is because she is taking time with her patients. Sorry but to me that's not a bad thing. You will not find a better OBGYN out there. End of story... so if you want to see someone great this is your doctor. :) read more

I want to say how AMAZING Dr.Solky and her staff are. I can't thank them enough for taking such great care of me before, during and after my pregnancies. The staff are all energetic. They are funny. They are understanding. They are genuine. Dr. Solky is very patient (never feel rushed or like she doesn't listen to me talking none stop and asking a thousand questions), detailed with explanations and in her work ethics , understanding, on top of everything. I'm always in and out of the office so quickly. The office is extremely friendly, welcoming, and clean. When I was pregnant they were able to accommodate my random walk Ins and my freak outs on the phones. I've never had any worry being under their care. Dr. Solky visited me quite a few times at the hospital. She's overall amazing and I couldn't have been blessed with a better obgyn. She's well knowledgeable at her profession and she loves what she does which is so wonderful and important . I have two friends who started seeing her because of my recommendation to them and they're just as happy with her! Have used her for the past three years and will continue to. Even if I have to pay out of pocket for whatever reason. Thank You so much! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED OBGYN IN BEVERLY HILLS /LOS ANGELES! read more

Dr. Solky was my GYN for 20 - 30 years.. Most recently my experience has not been great. She joined Cedar Sinai and during the transfer of information lost my bio identical prescription HRT information. She her self does not support this so I had to go to another doctor ($500) to get a hormone prescription. I just now tried to make an appointment and was told she no longer accepts Medicare , even with a supplemental policy. 65 and kicked to the curb. read more

Dr. Morse Solky is nice, and a pretty good doctor, but I don't think she is worth waiting months for an appointment. She simply has too many patients. I wait literally months to see her, then wait in the waiting room for an hour, then see her for 4 minutes. I'm not pregnant so maybe I'm low priority for her. read more

Wouldn't trust my health to any other OB GYN in all the world. Was referred to Dr. Solky (maiden name is Morse -- someone should update this listing!) by a colleague. I have an extensive history of cervical abnormalities and I feel like Dr. Solky knows my body better than I do -- she knows when to treat me, and when to wait. She is not one to just jump on doing procedure after procedure that can leave you at risk for pre-term labor or miscarriages during pregnancy; she monitors you as an individual case and proceeds accordingly. I remember the first time I saw her, she sat me down in her personal office and spent 20-30 minutes just talking about my case, asking me what I had been through, how I had been treated, and discussed in full detail how she would be treating me. She allayed my fears and made me feel like there was hope. Dr. Solky was also the one (not any of my regular doctors, who I usually go to for my annual check-up) who discovered a lump in my breast -- mind you, I was only 28 when it was discovered. She referred me to Pink Lotus -- maybe one of the best medical establishments in all of the US -- who monitored me with precision before diagnosing my tumor as benign. Dr. Solky has brought me peace of mind and a feeling of safety that no other doctor has been able to provide -- I feel like my health and well being are in good hands, and I can leave the worrying to them. Their office is beautiful and so warm and comfortable, the staff is AMAZING (I loooove Melissa at the front desk!!), and Dr. Solky responds to all of my emails the same day I send them to her -- and I've sent her MANY! Not to mention (sorry for the TMI!) I have recurring YI's and am fully drug-resistant to treatment. I suffered under the hands of so many doctors who pumped my body full of toxic, kidney-overloading drugs to help me with my problems, all to no avail. I finally went in to discuss it with Dr. Solky; she prescribed me a simple treatment of Boric Acid (natural, safe, and you don't grow a resistance to it) and it has CURED me. Why didn't any other doctor prescribe this for me!??? It was the first thing she recommended. I just can't recommend Dr. Solky enough. I don't ever want kids, but if I do have them, I can't wait for Karyn to be my doctor. read more

My endocrinologist recommended Dr. Solky as an OBGYN with a focus on high risk. I was so pleased when I met her she was so friendly warm and patient in explaining my silly questions. Her entire staff in the office is also very polite. I am not pregnant yet however when I am pregnant I would be so happy to have her and that energy around me as I deliver a baby! read more

Dr. Solky is wonderful. I've been seeing her for about six years. She's a great doctor. I don't remember having to wait that long as a gyn patient. She doesn't rush you once you are in the room with you. I prefer to wait and get the right amount of personal attention. Most doctors run a bit late. She and her awesome team at Cedars delivered my first baby in September 2013 and it was a wonderful experience. I was so scared before walking in but as soon as I got in there her team put all of my fears at ease and I had a beautiful baby. Best possible experience I could have had. She answered all of my crazy pregnancy emails promptly and always reassured me when my worrying got the best of me. I think she is worth waiting for. Good all around doctors are really hard to find. Quite simply, the kindest, most competent ob-gyn I have ever had. She returns my calls/emails ASAP and never treats me like a number. She delivered my son after nearly 24 hours of labor and never once suggested a c-section. Was willing to work with me so I could have the labor I wanted. I tried another well-reviewed ob who had St. Johns and UCLA privileges, as for this pregnancy, I wanted to be on the west side. But, midway through this pregnancy, I got fed up with the sub-par treatment and returned to Dr. Morse (now Solky!) who welcomed me back with open arms. I sometimes wish we lived in a more midwife-friendly society, as I would prefer that medical model, but I adore Dr. Morse so much that I'm willing to overlook that. read more

Dr Solky is THE best. Had my baby 6 months ago and had the most wonderful experience with her. Dr. Morse was recommended to me by another Cedars doctor as one of the best OB-GYN's at that hospital. She delivered my baby girl, and she is the best doctor I've ever met. She is calm, competent, easy going, and funny :) She made me feel comfortable, never rushed me, always answered all my questions and didn't mind explaining things over. and over. and over again :) She also answered all my emails very promptly. I wanted a natural birth, but after being in labor for 36 hours, ended up with a c-section. She was very patient with me for the entire 36 hours, never pushed me into a c-section because she knew that's not what I wanted - but in the end, I started to develop a fever, and she explained to me it was getting risky to wait any longer. I have the neatest scar buried in my pubic region - she is an excellent surgeon. I love, love, love Dr. Morse. If you are looking for a female doctor who will deliver your baby and really coach you through the process, you have found her. Two thumbs up! read more

Simply put - she is awesome. And, I can't say anything negative about her staff - they seemed on top of things. When I became pregnant, I asked my primary doctor to recommend a new obgyn because I didn't think my current obgyn was the right fit. He suggested Karyn Morse and I'm so thankful. I was a scared 40-year-old single professional woman with an unplanned pregnancy. I didn't know how this new person in my life would react but she welcomed me with open arms and made me feel good about my decision. I'm so thankful she did not judge me - then, I was such an emotional wreck. I was 40 and had a high risk, complicated pregnancy with preeclamsia (extremely high blood pressure). In addition, when I was in labor, the umbilical cord was wrapped around my son's neck and he was not in the correct position. His heartbeat was getting weaker with each contraction so I ended up having a c-section. Throughout this, she was very calm and kept me calm. She knew when to make the call to wheel me into the OR room and soon after, came my healthy, beautiful baby boy. With her, it was easy to "go with the flow." She is great and I highly recommend her. read more

Dr. Morse delivered my first baby last year and I couldn't be happier with my experience. Leading up to the birth she was very attentive to all my needs. She was always responsive via phone and email, and she wasn't a fear-mongering doctor who pushed extra ultrasounds and tests (just what was standard). I appreciated her approach because with an uncomplicated pregnancy it is refreshing that a doctor tends to your needs without assuming the worst and intervening when it might not be required. Dr. Morse isn't as well known as some other Cedars docs which is surprising because, like the other reviewer mentioned, she has a reputation within the medical community as being one of the best OBGYN/surgeons in LA. Because I know she is such a highly respected gynecologic surgeon I was a bit nervous about ending up with a Cesarean birth---after all, OBGYNs are surgeons at the end of the day, which likely contributes to the very high cesarean rate in our country---when I was very much hoping for a natural birth. However, I had heard that Dr. Morse was a doctor who was supportive of natural birth. One doula/midwife described her as a rare doctor who "loved and respected birth and delivering babies," which may sound simplistic but I don't believe that all OBGYNS still feel that way. I chose Dr. Morse because I decided that if it should be necessary that I needed a Cesarean, I would know I was in good hands; but if I didn't have any complications, then she would be respectful of the natural birth process---a win/win situation. Ultimately, Dr. Morse was completely supportive of my desires and when the day finally came, she totally respected my birth plan and never suggested pain meds, per my wishes. I was fortunate enough to have a pretty straightforward first birth and she was calm and encouraging throughout. It truly was a beautiful experience and I was grateful to her for helping me along. As for her office, I have mostly had a fine time with them and only had to wait a few times. The reason was usually because she was still at the hospital delivering a baby. While it is always annoying to have to wait, I can deal if there is a legitimate reason. I know that by the time I got to the hospital for my birth in the late afternoon on a Tuesday, there wasn't a lot of time but she came right away. I hope she didn't have to bump a patient or rush anyone through an appointment, but I appreciated that she was there when I needed her. I also appreciate that SHE is the one to deliver her patients so you can feel comfortable with that. I highly recommend Dr. Morse and you can message me if you have any other specific questions that I can answer. Good luck! read more

If you have a perfect pregnancy she's a great doctor. If you have any trouble along the way, good luck seeing her. I assume she's overwhelmed with patients, but I could only communicate with her through email. She never wanted to see me in person after I started bleeding early in my pregnancy and was told by her staff to wait till the 8th week to come in. When I did get to see her, she failed to diagnose what turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy. All the clues were there. Two weeks later my tube ruptured at work and I had to have emergency surgery by another doctor in another hospital. She didn't even follow up with a phone call. I got an email asking if I was ok. read more

If you don't have a life or a job, this is the doctor for you. Everyone waits....and you never know how long you will be waiting. If you have an emergency and walk in, or if you have scheduled your appointment a year in advance.....its all the same. Two years, and I was done. I can not possibly wait 2 hours EVERY TIME I have to see this doctor. I understand that sometimes baby's are born. Or emergency surgery happens. But the last time I noticed that patients are scheduled at 10 min intervals. I don't know what, if any gyno exam can take 10 mins. Again, if you don't mind waiting, she is a good doc. But there are other good docs that get you in at a reasonable time and out in time to go on with your life. A regular doctor's appoint should not take your entire day. read more

Dr. Morse is such a sweetheart and is a fantastic physician. She is so laid back, sweet, caring, and their office staff is great as well. They always call me in before my appointment time, have always worked with me on scheduling appointments, and are personable as well. Dr. Morse delivers ALL of her babies, whether she is on call or not. That is a rarity these days!!! She gives all her patients her email address and she always wrote me back immediately. I highly recommend Dr. Karyn Morse. She helped me through my pregnancy and delivery more than a year ago. She was always patient in answering my questions, friendly and open-minded. Perhaps a previous patient was kept waiting because Dr. Morse took the time to answer all of her patient's questions? Most of my girlfriends have told me that the doctor is only there in time to catch the baby during delivery but she sat with me while I pushed for more than 2 hours. That is definitely attentive when she could have walked away and asked the nurse to page her right before the baby arrived. I look forward to having more children with her help. read more

I could write for hours about how amazing Dr. Solky is. I moved here a year ago and used all of these review sites to find an OBGYN. And before I got to my first visit we were pregnant! Dr. Solky was amazing from the start. She is a no fluff tell it like it is person but comforting at the same time. I'm a control freak who worries about everything when it comes to health so she kept me in line and calm throughout the entire pregnancy. And through ten months of a billion appointments you really have to like someone to make it through! She was never annoyed (at least it didn't show) at my crazy questions or emails, and always got back to me quickly. Now let's talk about delivery. That was rough, but not because of Dr. Solky. I mean your pushing a kid out, it's not fun no matter who your dr is. But Dr. Solky was there on time and kept me focused throughout, even joking with me when I could handle it. I won't get into details but it was probably the best case scenario delivery one could ask for and a lot of it was because of Dr. Solky. We move around a lot for work and I sad to think that she might not deliver our next one. Oh and her nurse Lorena in the office is wonderful. She was so nurturing and kind throughout the pregnancy and after! read more
