After having my dog a few months, I began to notice undesirable behaviors that I wanted to work on with a professional trainer. I listed these behaviors and weighed the options of a group class vs. in home training. Jim focuses on positive reinforcement training which is very appealing to me. Jim has a very reasonable starter package of 3 lessons. He came out for an evaluation of Alibi first. Since starting her lessons, my dog has developed significantly and my ability to control her has increased as well. After working with Jim, you can tell he has a genuine passion for what he does and that he basically understands and loves dogs. My Rottie loves him too. I would highly recommend Jim O'Neil at Great Dog! I have not been disappointed with my choice. He responds to his emails promptly.

In a 1 hour session, our 4 legged friend went from lunging and barking at Jim in front of the house to politely asking for and taking treats, off-leash, inside the house. While we will likely book another appointment to extend the training, Jim was not at all pushy about additional sessions. All around, a fantastic experience. Highly recommended!

Stated it was denied because my dog needs an evaluation first (fair, but wouldn't you want to reach out to me to let me know that or see what day he can come in to be evaluated?), I told her that's okay I have some days I can bring him in before boarding, she goes on to say they have availability for an evaluation Tuesday of that week, but makes another excuse that they might not have time? so weird? Then goes on to say I will have to pay extra $15/day for boarding since my dog isn't neutered which is fine I would pay the extra I have no choice. I just felt like excuses were just being made up at this point and the way things were being communicated was awkward and weird. Will try another place.

We rescued a 12 week old puppy from Texas and quickly learned we needed pro help as we haven't been puppy parents for 20 years and this little girl was a nutjob and may have been heading down a bad path behavior wise. Kristin got right back to me after my initial web page inquiry. When she arrived, she was relaxed and professional and her kind, caring, genuine personality was obvious from the start. She CARES about our furbaby. Her training skills were so effective even from the initial consultation that this little pup was learning: come, sit, shake and down (heel) and most important to us was her going in her crate when asked as this is something we really want her to master and be comfortable with. Kristin made it known that our role is crucial in her training and gave us handouts for our homework and skills to be met. By the second session, our pupper was learning: "touch" (snoot boops), learning to jump into her bed and "leave it" (biting stuff) and stay. We are able to redirect the evening zoomy/crazy time with physical and mental workouts for her that is good for all of us. The entire time during these sessions, Kristin is upbeat, fun and it really feels like we've known her forever. We trust her to do the best thing for all of us. I'm so happy we connected with her. I am excited for the future of what this little doggo is going to learn, master and how her confidence is going to grow. You cannot go wrong choosing her to help with your furkids. Thank you Kristin!!

I absolutely recommend Solid K9 Training for anybody who would like to have real communication with…read moretheir dog. When I sent my rescue dog into Solid K9 he was nervous and fearful to a debilitating level. He was great with people, great with dogs, but absolutely horrible with modern technology. The sound of a car door shutting would send him scrambling for the hills. After three weeks in the Board & Train program, his confidence had skyrocketed. He is still a naturally nervous dog, but the team at Solid K9 gave him a base level of confidence which I could simply never have provided him in a very short amount of time. They gave us the tools to work together and communicate. I recently went on vacation and dropped my dog off at the board and play program for the first time since his training. I figured my dog would obviously be nervous and bummed to leave me, but the second he saw the trainers his tail started blasting back and forth like a windshield wiper and he completely forgot who I was. He ran off into the kennel area without even saying goodbye. After that performance my vacation was 100% guilt-free. If you need better communication with your dog, don't hesitate to go with the team at Solid K9.

My husband and I are newly married and we adopted a house pony last winter. Our new giant puppy,…read moreKlaus, is everything to us and we haven't spent time away from him. We are the three musketeers going everywhere together. I'd gotten news that my husband and I needed to spend some time out of town for some medical appointments and it would be too long to leave Klaus in his crate, and what if we were stuck longer in traffic or needed to extend our stay? My husband did exhaustive research about in-house pet sitting, daycare and boarding services in the area and came up with Lucky Dog Resort. We decided that lucky dog was the best fit for us because we could leave him for a day if we'd ever need to drop him off while we are out running errands or leave him overnight if we needed to travel. All of their options seemed to work for us for any anticipated needs. We couldn't be more thrilled with their staff, facility and services. When we drop Klaus off at their gate he is SO EXCITED to be there. The staff greets us and reviews his typical daily schedule, food and sleeping habits with us. They have crating options and snuggling options and make sure to note when your dog typically eats and how much. There are often many, many things to worry about on a given day and Lucky Dog Resort has taken one worry from our list - we no longer worry that Klaus is happy and safe when he's not with us. They send us mid-day photos and videos and his doggie smile is enough to prove how happy he is to be running around with friends. Their team is reinforcing his training and good behaviors and best of all, he comes home from daycare EXHAUSTED - he's run and played and gotten rubbies all day long. He is loved, safe and cared for at Lucky Dog Resort.

I signed up for group training classes with my puppy. She knew one of the other dogs in class, and…read morethe two of them were very aroused and wanted to say hello, which understandably is not allowed during a group training class. My puppy spent much of the class barking, and it was frustrating. The trainer separated the other dog into another room at one point and also tried using a wall as a barrier, but I did not feel there were many suggestions for how to handle the situation or help us make progress. The trainer herself was unable to help the situation, which did not instill confidence. I spoke with the trainer after the first couple of sessions because I did not feel like I was getting much out of the classes and my puppy was barking through most of them. After that conversation, I was essentially told it was not working to have my puppy in the class and that we should not continue. I asked for a partial refund, but one was not provided. They would not budge on that, even though we were being asked not to come back. After some back and forth, I was offered a private session, but my dog then had health problems that prevented us from training for a period of time. Ultimately, I decided not to go back. There is also judgment around people who use e-fences. I was told they would not even do private training with a dog that has an e-fence at home, which I do. In my conversations with employees, I was not offered best practices for people who already have e-fences, only disapproval. The space itself is nice for a small group setup, and it is clean. My dog and I are working toward AKC Canine Good Citizen and eventual therapy dog certification, so I have stayed consistent with training and have had better experiences elsewhere, including NK Petco and Mischief Managed. When I explained the scenario of the dogs being aroused in class to trainers at these other facilities they offered a list of solutions and things to try that worked.
