The Barking Lot has been such a great experience for my pup. I have a small dog and they separate the small dogs from the bigger dogs. That in itself is wonderful if you are a small dog owner. My pup cannot wait to get in there. He goes to daycare three times a week. I have used them for daycare and for frequent overnights for three years now. Looks dirty, sketch animal boarding, we had to ask multiple times to be taken on a tour. The staff there were very vague on how they take care of the animals and the cages look like they haven't been cleaned in a long time stains, and looked very unhygienic. read more

I have been using the Barking Lot over the last couple of months for Doggy Day Care for my 2 year old Labrador. Love Love LOVE The Barking Lot. I have tried other locations and they simply do not hold a match to it. The staff is moe than happy to take you right into the heart of the action so that you can see what is going on "behind the scene". The dogs are all temp tested and required to be up to date on all thier shots. A good dog is a tired dog, and a day at The Barking Lot can make that happen. Worth every penny. Rosco and I love The Barking Lot!! I bought a groupon for five days of daycare, figuring it would be good to try out. Rosco LOVES it there. As we drive closer, he gets more and more excited. Once we get there, he is greeted by name by almost every staff member. When I pick him up in the afternoon, he is always happy to see me, and VERY well worn out!!! A few weeks ago, I had to board Rosco while I went out of town, and The Barking Lot took great care of Rosco. He needed to receive some medications, and was thrilled that he got them in hot dogs. ;-) The first night, the staff called to tell me how he was doing (what can I say, I'm a nervous puppy-mama), which I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciated. Being able to look at the pictures (posted daily) and videos (three times each week) to see what my little guy had been up to made me feel much better about leaving him behind. Each and every time I have taken my dog here, they cut her accidentally somewhere and she was bleeding. The last straw was when the groomer cut her tongue, permanently splitting it in two on one side. While I understand that dogs can get skittish and mistakes can happen, (which is why I gave them not one but three chances) - the tongue cut was the last straw. They didn't even offer to discount the price or do anything other then "sorry". Telling everyone I know about this place that clearly needs to train its groomers how to groom properly without always causing an injury and its staff to actually care. read more

My dog Petey loves it here! The staff is friendly and professional. I work from home most of the time and he goes here for doggy daycare when I go into the office. If I could afford it, I'd go into the office more often so he could have more social time with his friends. I've also boarded him numerous times. The staff sends photos via text while your pet is boarding, which I really appreciate because I miss my fur baby like crazy! My dog is spoiled, but not in the stereotypical way with toys or treats. Instead, with attention, three walks a day, lots of pets, he sleeps with me, and cuddles on the couch; he's always next to me. It puts me at ease knowing he's being paid attention to not only during the day, but also well taken care of by overnight staff. I tried everything for my skunked pup. Peroxide and dish soap... didn't work. Tomato paste... didn't work. Also he's white so he was super stained from the tomato. They took him in last minute and even took care of his nails and ear allergies. I'm so very impressed with the quality service provided here. Highly recommended! read more

when a dog was lost they were unprofessional with the owners and friends and family out looking for the dog they were rude and defensive instead of admitting they made a mistake. They were horrible to work with while trying to locate the dog, and at one point said while now the best approach is just to wait and see instead of trying everything they could to rectify the mistake. When the dog was eventually found they post it on social media before reaching the owners to tell them their dog was found. The family found out through Facebook. The picture they posted to say the dog was returned was blurry and more focused on the crate wire instead of the dog so you could not actually see if it was ok. The reasoning the gave for the dog being lost was that the son left the gate open when watering the dog. The most unprofessional, cavalier people I have ever experienced. read more

What can I say? I love my dog :) Two puppy facility reviews in two days? Oh well. With my family living all the way in South Texas, I tend to leave town for an extended period of two or three times a year. When a friend of mine bailed on puppy sitting last minute, I knew it was time to find a good place to board Rossi. Of course my first instinct is to call my vet and see who they recommended and it was The Barking Lot. Just to make sure, I called my fellow puppy owners to check and they all recommended The Barking Lot. The facility is relatively new and is very clean and welcoming to owners and pups alike. Rossi gets so excited every time I pull into the parking lot so I know she definitely loves going there. They always have someone on premises to watch and play with the dogs. A great thing that they do (which I'm sure a lot of other owners appreciate) is that if you 'like' their page on FB, they post pictures and videos of the dogs playing every day. Nothing like being able to check in at the end of the day while I'm away and see Rossi playing with the other dogs! The people that work here are also fantastic, they get along well with the dogs and have even taught me a few things about my dog. Again, like most pet boarding places, it can be a little steep in pricing but it's worth it to know that they take such good care of my crazy pup. read more

If I could give something less than "no stars" I would. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEIR GROOMING SERVICES!!! Today, I received the worst haircut and customer service in 6 years of having my white schnauzer professionally groomed. 6 years has allowed me enough time to know exactly what his haircut requires and should look like(every single detail). We travel throughout the country for work and have received countless cuts from all over, and a schnauzer pattern is the same everywhere. Initially, when I spoke with the groomer, he proceeded to tell me that my dog is a westie, as many often mistake him for until they look closely and with less starry eyes. White schnauzers are everywhere. Yes, rare, but everywhere. My dog hasn't had a cut in 2 months, which has allowed for more than enough fur to cut him correctly. When I returned, I asked to see him before I paid. I noticed at drop-off that the groomer wasn't very interested in my details, as he expressed that he has cut many schnauzers. Well, why doesn't my 7 year old schnauzer look like a schnauzer now? The woman at the front desk proceeds to tell me that he looks more like a westie to her. Ma'am, he is a schnauzer, as I mentioned when I booked the reservation and again at drop-off. I don't care if your limited experience hasn't put a white schnauzer before you in the past. The owner pulls out a book. The book only confirms what I've been saying. This cut is horrific and incorrect. It's uneven, straggly, shapeless, and free of pride. He simply says, "well I don't know how long his hair was." I showed him pictures of my white schnauzer when he looks like the schnauzer that he should look like. Although, I didn't pay for the cut, there was never any sort of apology. Everyone looked perplexed and dumbfounded. I would have still been upset, but much less if someone would have at least acted like they cared, or at the very least, admittedly understood. Tragic Experience! read more

I've been taking Ripley here for a couple of months for dog daycare and she loves it. I like seeing the daily pics/videos on Facebook - I know why she's exhausted when she comes home! I skipped a couple of weeks and she noticed it - when we finally went back her whole body wagged as I dropped her off, and she didn't look behind at me once - she just excitedly followed the staff inside. More importantly, it is clear how seriously the Barking Lot staff take their jobs and genuinely care about the animals - they put the pups first, and I am so appreciative. Paperwork was very thorough from medical to behavioral profile. The staff seemed very friendly and gave a cheerful individual greeting to each dog that came in while I was there. When I picked my dog up, he fell asleep as soon as he got into the car. The videos and pictures they upload were very telling as to why he was so tired. Lots of playing and running around! My dog loves the Barking Lot! He sprints in every morning he attends the day care program and is greeted by team members who are happy to see him, know him by name, and take such good care of him! He plays in groups appropriate to his size and energy level. I get feedback if he's ever sick or injured in play. The staff is friendly and polite to me. Now this review is NOT from a first time visitor; we had 2 dogs who frequented the Barking Lot for day care AND boarding. After an 8 day trip in November to St. Thomas, we picked up our two dogs and noticed the puppy had a considerable cough. We phoned The Barking Lot right away and they said he was "fine" and no one noticed him coughing. 24 hours after picking him up, he was in ICU at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists. Our current bill is over $2,000; the Critical Care Vet said that it was not infectious pneumonia, but that the puppy aspirated something at The Barking Lot which caused his pneumonia. The Barking Lot will not take responsibility for the puppy getting sick in their care and stated that all employees said the puppy was fine and in the daily Facebook photos that are posted online, the puppy does not look like he is in distress.
