She claimed she had to stop because the dog was stressing and I would not have to pay for some of the services rendered(Fumagator). She called me before I got home, less than an hour to come and get my dog and he looked the same way that I brought him in there, dirty. His ears smelled and I know the person who alledgly took care of my dog did something because she didn't have the nerves to hand my dog over to me. Edit: against my better judgement, again, I scheduled another grooming appt. I spoke to someone on the phone to schedule an express groom appointment on 11/22/25 at 1230p. I get a phone call at 1045a saying they can't take him and need to reschedule because he's a senior dog and he gets stressed (my dog has never been stressed during an appointment) also because its a holiday weekend and too many dogs in the back. A complete inconvenience. Spoke with store manager Rodney and he gave all the excuses as to why my dog couldn't get serviced. A bunch of bull and excuses. Offered 50% off for the service being reschedule. Complete miscommunication at that groomers because I spoke with someone directly at that that location to get scheduled then I get a get a call saying he can't come. It's really ridiculous. I will be calling corporate and attempting to contact the manager Jason Luciano about all the horrible experiences I have had at this location. I don't make no sense. Don't get your dog groomed here. One, the customer service is terrible and two the cuts are worse than that. Got my yorkie groomed out of desperation and against my better judgement and as expected, it was terrible. Botchy cut. I have been taking my dog to PetSmart for grooming for a few months and was satisfied. The regular groomer has left, and the groomer that did my dog did a full consultation with me and then did the exact opposite of what I wanted. I selected the coat length I wanted, which was the second from the longest coat cut, and then she proceeded to almost shave her down. We had a conversation at length about my not wanting her coat too short because of it being cold outside. The only thing I was satisfied with was the tail cut, which was left long as I requested. The cut was uneven and scraggly in places where longer hair was missed. She looked very displeasing for our holiday pictures and I am looking for a new groomer right now. I also do not like the process for paying. I could not use the link they sent for payment on my phone (It never works), and I had to wait in line to get the payment paper from the grooming area, go wait in line at the cash register to pay, and then go back and wait in line in the grooming section again to pick up my dog. Went to petsmart in Waldorf Md today 5/16/23 for a brush out for my Australian Shepherd girl. I paid for 30 minutes and the groomer tried to give her bac to me after perishing her for 7 minutes I reached down and pulled a big patch of hair out of her and told the groomer yo take her back and brush her more. I watched and a ton of more hair came out. After 1/2 hour the gave her back to me upon which time I brushed her with my butter comb and got a large amount of hair out of her still. Their grooming dept charged me $140 for my poodles grooming and AMBER DID NOT BRISH HER HAIR through. She grazed the top of her hair and DID NOT go to the scalp , leaving KNOTS ALL OVER my girls ear, pins and tail. Then amber copped an attitude with me and I fired them. The manager of the grooming department was nice, AND CONDESCENDING, to make herself appear as if she were helpful. THEY HAVE NO PRIDE IN THEIR WORK. And yes, I've written a letter to corporate. GO AND WATCH how they blow dry and brush your pet. They told me they put a floor blow dryer on my girl, and I have photos to prove her hair wasn't brushed out. If a poodles hair is brushed properly it is fluffy, straight, with NO CURLS. MY GIRL WAS ALL MATTED AND HER CURLS WERE MATTED. AND I SHAVED MY GIRLS body BEFORE I went, so all that had to be done was blow dry her head, ears, and poms on her ankles and tail. She looked WORSE AFTER I PICKED HER UP at the grooming salon. DI NOT GO THERE. THEY STICK YOUR ANIMAL IN A UNWATCHED CAGE TO BLOW DRY! And that has been PROVEN to kill animals. FACT. I have always asked them to personally hand dry and brush out my poodles. This review is for the grooming department. This was my first and last time bringing my dog to this location. They have very little to no experience in grooming. I usually take my dog to the Petsmart in Alexandria but they were booked and since I live close to the Waldorf store, I thought to give them a chance. I wish I would have read all the nagative reviews first. I have a golden doodle and they shaved him way too close and uneven. They called me to ask if they could shave him because his hair was matted. I strictly informed them not to shave him because he was definitely not matted. We brushed him the night before. To my surprise when my daughter picked the dog up they had shaved him anyway. No bath, no blow dry. They cut his hair before shampooing and blowing drying him first. Hello a golden doodle has curly hair and it's difficult to get a decent cut without a wash and blowout first. I am very displeased and will never take my dog here again. I called to see if they had any last min cancellations, and they didn't. Ms Asia got my number, and call right back, saying she could help me. The final straw was walking in and hearing one of the employees yelling at a dog b/c she wouldn't sit still for a haircut. My precious baby was so ready to go, he was choking himself trying to escape. I asked for his glands to be expressed, but the same night we came home he was scooting on the carpet. They also keep your dog for 4 hours or more. STAY AWAY. I wish I would have read the reviews prior to his visit. I will NEVER return. Also, I had my son with me and like a normal 1 year old, he was a little fussy. The groomer rushed through the paperwork so "I could hurry up and get him outta here". Terribly train staff on customer service. Understaffed. Learn how to handle the customer when your in the wrong. We moved our services to PETCO Short story real short. Dog needs a bath and groom. That's what you do. So, why is it so hard to provide the info necessary to make that as easy as possible for the customer. And once you provide that info and I return, do not tell me you meant something else. Wasted an hour of my Sunday and gas. We no longer need your bad customer service. There are way too many better and cheaper options. FYI, not being connected to the Vet located at the front of the store is a business FAIL! I am sure the grooming business is not your bread and butter, so, I guess that explains why you do not train the few you employ. Just a horrific experience. I visited this petsmart today to try and find something for my puppy that I just got and I went to the register where there was two cashiers and I asked if someone could assist me. I already felt some type of way because I see people coming in all the time and they get greeted with a hello, but I never do. Anyhow, the cashier Stephanie told me I had to wait for her to get the line down, which there was only two people standing in line. I told her I would stand in line so that she can assist me when it was my turn, even though I shouldn't have to stand in line because I just walked in the store and didn't have a product to pay for yet. I got in the line it took about 2 mins and walked up to her register. Stephanie proceeded to tell me I had to wait again until she got the line down which was weird because it was my turn and there was only one person behind me. I told her that was unacceptable and she said "I'm going to go help this lady" very rudely to her coworker. She then walked with me saying what do you need is it these and pointed to some collars trying to rush me. I told her I would prefer she get someone that can take there time to help me and not rush me or talk to me rude. She then mumbled under her breath and took me to a office where a manager Rodney came and assisted me after apologizing for Stephanie's behavior. I am a black female and Stephanie is a Caucasian woman I don't know if I was racially profiled but it made me feel bad because I didn't deserve that type of customer service. I only come here for grooming! Nearly 8 years ago when my first dog was a puppy I came here to Tammy to have her groom my dog snowball and it's been a wonderful experience ever since! She's so caring and patient with snowball! 3 years after snowball was born we got another dog named Alex and started being him to her as well! Literally the worst customer service. I called to make a grooming appointment last Saturday via the phone. I requested the time of 12:30 pm but was told because it's a puppy bath and trim, she had to do it at 2:30. I show up at 2:27 to check in, I was told my appointment was at 1:30pm. The girl who checks you in, along with the groomer kept asking me who booked the appointment instead of offering a solution to me now having a puppy that I expected to get bathed that was clearly not gonna have it done today. The groomer kept telling me I can't do it today, I leave at 3. That was her only solution. She transferred me to a manger and he said the same thing. I understand miscommunication but to not offer a solution and only tell a customer that you can't do it today is terrible customer service. Don't go here. read more

I will never take my dog back here to be groomed. When I came to pick up my dog from the grooming salon, I had to pay before seeing the haircut. After I paid, they brought my dog out and it looked like the groomer had cut about a quarter of an inch of hair off of him when I asked him to shave my dog. Upon inspecting him further, I saw that his nails were not cut and I had specifically requested that to be done as well. When I complained, one of the other groomers told me that I could come back the next day to speak with the person who had cut my dog's hair. To make things worse, my dog seemed so scared when I went to pick him up that he darted out of the grooming area. I went across the street to the Petco the same day to see if I could get a last minute haircut for my dog (we were going out of town the next day). The wonderful groomers in there offered to shave my dog for FREE after I told them what happened over at Petsmart. They told me that others in the past had brought their dogs over to Petco after experiencing much worse at Petsmart. If you do choose to take your dog to Petsmart to be groomed, be sure to stay and watch them and make sure they've done the job correctly before you pay. This will ensure that you and your dog have a good experience with these groomers. read more

This Petsmart needs work, a lot. Grooming salon is horrible. I brought my pup here about a year ago for a clean up cut, meaning just the hygienic areas and face trim. Low and behold, my pup came out almost bare with an awful mullet. We are not talking about fashion mullet folks, a regular full fledged mullet. She looked pitiful and not herself. Her hair grew back quite funny after that. The Banfield is really slow. I can't remember exactly what the reason was for bringing my pup here, but it had something to do with a tick. They made us wait about an hour, even though the waiting room was empty and the vet came out with no dogs. He checked it real quick, and let us know we were safe to go home. Thanks doc, for making us wait an hour to..... do.... what? And we also paid for this useless appointment. The store itself isn't bad. They have a decent selection, however one downfall is that there is always dog fecal on the ground. Always stale or smeared, never fresh. I don't think the employees walk around to check the cleanliness of the store. The employees at the cash point are always super nice. But overall, not worth coming here. The groomers here are terrible. I normally go to Petco to get my dogs groomed but I wanted to give PetSmart a try. Let's just say I left Unsatisfied. I took my dog to get his hair cut low. He has a lot of hair. The woman who cut his hair cut him poorly. He has patches all down his legs, She didn't cut his tail at all so he looked ridiculous. She cut so much from off his face where it looked like he was bald, his ears were cut poorly and uneven. His ears were not cleaned! She said she cleaned his ears but there is still wax in there. I had paid extra for the upgraded grooming and my dog was supposed to get a bandana but he never got one. I had gotten my other dog trimmed, washed, and she had the top dog plus package. The groomer CAROLIN did a terrible job. My dog was supposed to get her nails grounded. She got her nails trimmed instead and what's even worse is that the woman didn't trim all of her nails. I will post pics. On top of that my dog was supposed to get washed. The groomer didn't even get the eye crust from my dogs eyes. Doesn't even look like she touched her face at all. There is flea dirt still on the belly of my dog. My dog smells like she just had perfume sprayed on her. Very poor grooming. Her trim is sloppy and her coat still looks oily. I feel like I was duped. I will never get my dogs groomed here again! read more

We dropped our dog off at noon, dog has a a full line up of grooming lined up which should have taken anywhere from 1 - 1 1/2 hours to complete. They were done in 30 minutes and called us every 15 minutes to tell us that he was done and ready to be picked up. When we picked him up they had only completed half of the requested services and he was still wet from his bath... While we were there the employee that was helping us was on his phone about 40% of the time while we were there. I do not recommend this place for others who care about their dogs, and we will no be returning for their grooming services. read more

My dog was still was wet, hadn't been properly brushed, and she didn't even trim around the private area. Another groomer had to brush my dog, cause she saw that my dog looked a MESS. 6 week program and all we learned was sit and stay. We've had the dog since she was weened, give her constant love and attention. We take her out every little bit and yet she's still peeing in the house every chance she gets. She also thinks playing is using us as human chew toys. Picked up.my dogs and they still had crust in their eyes and they were barely trimmed. The lack of trimming was especially annoying since we have Corgis and specifically asked for the behinds to be trimmed low. When we asked why it looked like they were not even touch in that area, the employee replied "well if you had paid for the full grooming service..." I was livid. There are 3 things to consider: the groomer, store and Banfield. I would give Banfield 3-4 stars. I did not have the same vet the two times I went and that is unusual. It is an issue for me because my dog has kidney failure and I valued the expertise of the initial vet. I would give the store another 3-4 stars. I buy the prescription diet and the canned food is not always in stock. Overall the store is clean and I haven't had any major issues. The Groomers got the two stars because again I had the same groomer for a while but she moved. The gentleman who did my dog did not follow my instructions (cut way too much off, shaved my poodle incorrectly and did not grind his nails). Grooming is not cheap and I truly expect to get what I pay for. That being said, if you get the right groomer it could be a pleasing experience. read more

Worst grooming salon do not take your pets there, I have had two bad experiences here! The first one being they cut his nails too low which made my dog bleed. When I called to see what happened they claimed it happened when I left the salon (a lie I carried him out of the salon and into the house). So eventually the "manager" of the salon promised to give me 20% off his next visit and said that it would be in the computer for next time. When I arrived the next time it was no where to be found and they shaved his paw pads for free (whoohoo thanks it was only three dollars). The second incident they left a cut on my dogs right eye (today) leaving me with a hospital bill of $300 and him a corneal ulcer. They were supposed to see my dog at Banfield (free of charge) but they had no available appointments until the next day and as an owner I DID NOT want to wait that long. They informed me that they were crowded at the time and it would be up to the DR to see him if she "felt like it" so I went up there and she didn't "feel like" taking five minutes out of her time to see him! instead she sent the nurse who had an attitude since we showed up (I wish I remembered her name)! PetSmart promises to reimburse me but we will see when I give them the bill bright and early tomorrow morning . *Update Rodney the manager was nice and I will be getting my money back for the Dr visit but I'm still upset that this even happened in the first place!! I would feel much better if 1. The groomer would've called me and said he's being difficult I don't want to do the job or 2. even telling us something happened instead of hoping it goes under the radar. Went in to this PetSmart today wanting to adopt a cat. I found the one I'd love to add to the family went to an associate to ask about adoption paperwork and was told I couldn't adopt her because they don't have the keys to unlock the cage. Instead of telling me when I can come back or any other information on how to adopt her the associate proceeded to walk away. Then I went to look at the small animals and their cages were filthy not to mention wheels were knocked over houses filled with bedding it was not a suitable environment for any small animal coming from a owner of 3 small animals myself. Location, supply and staff of the store get 5 stars - reviewed at the bottom. Banfield vet portion gets 1 star - that's what the majority of the review is about. My fiance and I have been regularly taking our pets (originally four, now down to three) to Banfield since their wellness plans save you a lot of cashola. The Banfield services at this location, though, are ATROCIOUS. Why appointments are necessary, I don't know because you will never ever ever ever (ever ever!) be seen at your appointment time. They take walk in's and emergencies before appointments. My cat had an emergency visit yesterday because he was lethargic, not moving, and crying in pain and felt very hot to the touch - I brought him in immediately at their request since they said he would be seen right away. We get there, and the dippy receptionist girl kept writing down symptoms that he didn't have and saying that he was there for a routine visit. The one nurse finally had to tell her no, Professor Bradley is an emergency visit. Sensing the nurse had significantly more brain cells than the receptionist, I asked how long I could expect to wait for him to be seen and be done - she said it would be about an hour and a half total and I could drop him off and come back. So, I took that option, got some lunch, and ran a few errands. I called two hours later since I hadn't heard anything and got dippy receptionist again - she said that he hadn't been seen yet, and that I should try calling back between 4:30 and 5:30 PM. I get ready to leave my house at 5:15 because I hadn't heard from them yet and I wanted to make sure the cat was not dead. Right as I was leaving the nurse called and said that Professor Bradley had a bacterial infection of unknown origin, that they would give him a shot of antibiotics that would last two weeks (negating the need for every day meds) and also give him IV fluids since he was dehydrated. Ok - I can roll with that, especially for the cost of $73 total for all of that (including the visit fees, labwork, meds, and fluids - this is where the Banfield plan comes in handy). A different nurse came to talk to me when I got there and she's a very good tech (long blonde hair and I think maybe hearing impaired?). This tech ran over the symptoms to watch for with me and said that if we didn't see much of a change in 24 - 48 hours to bring him back. Flash foward to 15 minutes ago: My fiance comes home from work calling me in a panic saying the cat's not really moving, crying in pain, and is just lying there. He wanted to know if that's something that I was told was normal and I said absolutely not and to call Banfield back because we needed to get him seen STAT (I'm all the way over in Fairfax at work and won't be home for a while). He calls me back and says that the receptionist said she had no idea what to do with the cat and that she would give the message to a nurse to call me back at some point during the day. WTF?! At that point, he decided to call the other Banfield location in Bowie which we've progressively been using more and more - the nurse who answered there knew exactly what was going on and made an appointment for the next day. She ran down the list of things and said that the Professor's shot won't be fully in effect for another 24 hours or so but if we didn't feel comfortable with it that we could bring him in sooner than tomorrow afternoon's appointment. My fiance told her about the frustration he had with the Waldorf location about this and she mentioned that she used to work at the Waldorf location and said she couldn't get out of there fast enough. She also said that she would give us the number if we wanted to call and file a complaint about that location. I'm going to read between the lines and say that she's encouraging us to do that because she knows something. Needless to say, we will never go back to that Banfield for services ever again and we'll take the Professor, Duke, and Neo to Bowie from now on. However, I don't discourage people from shopping there for their pet food needs, since they always have a good stock of the healthy, grain-free, additive free stuff in stock (which I've had problems getting elsewhere) and if you have their discount card, you can score some really good prices on it. read more

When I picked them up the two female had been buzzed to almost skin rather than finding the matted areas and cutting them out and doing an all over trim the Idiot named Victoria decided to buzz them both. My other yorkie (less than six months old) was cut on his stomach when the idiot tried to shave his sanitary area. then wrote on the checkout sheet that he was brought in that way! I see the manager to complain this morning about the cut because we did not see it until after we got home and she checked the checkin paperwork and nothing on there said anything about a cut to the stomach area. The manager goes back to speak with Victoria and the story changes to my six month old yorkie was matted when I brought him in and that's how he was cut. So the manager at the store take the groomers side. atrocious management (except for Rodney, he was awesome) The Groomer should be fired! I took my 7 month old Amstaff puppy to the groomers here. He has never been to the groomer before and I was nervous about it. He was his normal happy go lucky self when to took him in. Attempted to have my pet groomed at this location twice. Either attempt was successful. Groomer scheduled time incorrectly & upon arrival my pet was not able to be serviced. I was willing to change services to accommodate the groomers to work my baby in but they weren't willing to. I decided to not reschedule and follow up with store manager and corporate regarding my concerns and customer service dissatisfaction. read more
